So stick to the opening hours! fun fact 2: You mentioned that the chicken is served cold/room temperature in singapore. This is only for Hainanese Chicken Rice, as there is a specific cooking step where after the chicken is fully cooked (emphasis on the fully cooked part), to keep the moisture and tenderness in the meat they blanch the chicken in ice water to prevent overcooking of the meat. this cools the meat down to room temperature, and also causes the fat under the skin to gelatinize giving it this unique jelly like bits under the skin that you cant get from other cooking methods. That is kinda weird. I remember being to Haw Par Villa as part of an urban hike activity (I was in scouts in high school) about 3 years ago and the Hell museum was wide open and it was free! It was kinda creepy too. Not sure what happened now, perhaps they need the money to fund the air conditioning XD
You know, I do think we managed to miss the crab women (I've seen pics of them). I'm not sure how that happened - I guess our eyes were busy that day!! 😉
@@TalesFromOurPocket As I recall they were back near the wall of dragons. But there are other sites that would make you forget them. The clam and snail people, the woman breast feeding an old man, the dioramas depicting the stories of the Monkey King.
I last went during the circle MRT line open house some years ago. It was still free then. Before that I only went during my childhood. The macabre scenes haunted me for life.
Well… if you managed to visit the hell museum, you probably would not be thinking of stealing those ice-cream. In fact you’ll pay ten bucks and just took 2 ice-creams. 😆
Oh gosh, I think you might be right - except in the US, it would have been created just to BE weird and Haw Par Villa at least started with much more meaning. 😁
The Hell's Museum is not for the faint hearted so maybe it's not a bad thing you missed it. I was surprised to see a mini Statue of Liberty there. Can't remember it being there when I last visited during a school trip years ago.
Wait! What? They charge to go to hell now? I thought I can just simply gossip about someone and destined a seat in there! 😅 I was in hell in my adolescent years, courtesy of a few forced school trips to Haw Par Villa. Scared the hell out of me!! 😅 😅 Thank you for the awesome content. Glad you enjoyed your time in my tiny little country. Travel safe!
It is not just chicken stock. U need to stir fry the washed rice with ginger and shallots (optional) with chicken fat. Chicken fat is the key ingredient. Thereafter add chicken stock to steam in rice cooker.
You guys did not go to the ten level of hell? After going throught the tunnel, you will get nightmare for live. They show the punishment for all crimes.
We would have gotten nightmares, I'm sure...but if we had gone, you would have had to listen to a number of bad hell jokes from both of us. It's best for everyone that we didn't go. 😂😂😂
Some years ago, Haw Paw Villa was revamped to be like a theme park with boat ride and a gigantic dragon mouth as the entrance. I was invited once to attend a talk by a devoted Christian speaker. He made derogatory remarks about people going to the park and compared it to entering the mouth of the devil
Ugh, we both feel there's a place in the world for all religions. Not all christians feel that way! That said, if I was entering a giant dragon mouth, I would probably feel like I was walking into hell - but it would also be kind of neat. 😂😂
@@TalesFromOurPocket I found a YT about him and shared my experience including how I couldn't reconcile about him saying he has killed someone in Thailand but Christ has forgiven him. I walked away from the talk wondering if he served justice. Anyway, someone related to him replied to my comments saying I written nonsense. But I remember it well.
The Chinese mythology of Hell is different from the Christian concepts. It is a place of judgement and it is neither good or bad but a karmatic rewards awaits those entering the gates. The story is to learn and correct mistakes and obtain virtues of life. Unfortunately, interpretations by right wings religious missionary group over the centuries that have no concepts or wanting to know of native cultures have over write and superceeded a lot of cultural beliefs and replaced with anglo-saxon beliefs which most parts are not even religious but a fear of the unknown and a need to create a bogeyman. After all, it is so easy to blame the devil for everything than to look and improve on oneself. We tend to give more credit to the Devil than he deserved.
18 levels of Hell shows you the types of punishment befitting the crimes that was done in the mortal world. Some can be extremely grotesques. It is said by the time you reached halfway, most people quit because of the life they have lived.
There used to be a boat ride through the many levels of Hell.. I remember being super creeped out by the gory figures they had in there, as a child. Oh, and enjoy Bali. My family and I used to head there for our annual March holidays (the kids get a break from school for a week) but Covid put an end to that. It's great for relaxation. My husband likes to sign up for a day of mountain biking and he always has a great time! The people are friendly, the food is great and there's many interesting temples to visit.
We love biking as a way to see places when we travel. We have biking adventures planned! And I need to look up this boat at Haw Par Villa. A number of people have mentioned it used to be there!
@@TalesFromOurPocket They may have taken it out to make the boat ride bit as walkable instead. The boat ride existed when I visited as a child. The last time I visited was in my teens when my cousins visited Singapore from NZ and they even had something like a log flume ride. I suspect most of these do not exist anymore.
The brothers are not really that nice, they disowned my friend's father who is their adopted brother. Made his family go on without money and starved...
The Hell part/area is a newly renovated part.. The older version is on the other side. Plus at night the place comes to live, people say it's the gates of hell in Singapore.
Nice trivia.. I actually know someone who is nephew of Wee Cho Yaw. He got nothing good to say about him too, saying that he didn't benefit from his immense wealth
What the Hell was in the video thumbnail. But unfortunately you guys didnt visit hell so viewers cant see what hell is (because its expensive), and can only can imagine it Hahahaha The depiction of hell in HPV is really scary, blood curdling and will deter anyone from committing evil and make him a good person in this life. It will scare the hell out of anyone lol. Should have paid hell a visit, or paid to visit hell when you can......... .... Even if Singapore is expensive as hell to some.

Noticed you did not show some of the weirder stuff in the Villa. Lol. There is some really strange sites, like the crab women.
There are 2 Haw Par villa in the world, the 2nd villa is in Hong Kong and its free.
Oh, no kidding! I'll have to look it up. Thanks for the heads up!
I last went during the circle MRT line open house some years ago. It was still free then. Before that I only went during my childhood. The macabre scenes haunted me for life.
It sounds like they haunt a lot of folks!
Great vlog guys..very imformative..😇 subscribed..
Thank you!!
Well… if you managed to visit the hell museum, you probably would not be thinking of stealing those ice-cream. In fact you’ll pay ten bucks and just took 2 ice-creams. 😆
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Where did you guys stayed in Singapore??
We stayed in 2 different hotels and both were near Clarke Quay!
Haw Par Villa is like the Singapore version of a wacky U.S roadside attraction.
Oh gosh, I think you might be right - except in the US, it would have been created just to BE weird and Haw Par Villa at least started with much more meaning. 😁
Smart to find the stall where there’s a long Q. 😂
Right?? 😂😂
The Hell's Museum is not for the faint hearted so maybe it's not a bad thing you missed it. I was surprised to see a mini Statue of Liberty there. Can't remember it being there when I last visited during a school trip years ago.
The mini statue of liberty really surised us, too! I wonder how it came to be there??
❤ Fantastic!
Thank you! ❤️
Oh my god, you discovered my favouite Hainanese Chicken Rice stall
Oh yay!!!
Awwwwww!!! Let's Go!
🎉🎉
You are the very few tourist that visited this very old tourist place..
Wait! What? They charge to go to hell now? I thought I can just simply gossip about someone and destined a seat in there! 😅 I was in hell in my adolescent years, courtesy of a few forced school trips to Haw Par Villa. Scared the hell out of me!! 😅 😅
Thank you for the awesome content. Glad you enjoyed your time in my tiny little country. Travel safe!
😂😂😂😂 That's funny! You might still get there someday for free, I guess! 😉 We loved our stay in Singapore!
nice video. i would also love to have a good meal on the last day of such trip. cheers!
Right?? It's a great final memory to leave with!
I am at your last SG trip video. THANK YOU xx
Thank you for watching all of them. I hope you have an incredible time in Singapore and fall in love with it as much as we did!
Enjoyable video.
Thanks! 😁
The rice in chicken rice is steamed in chicken stock, garlic and ginger. That's where the aroma comes from :p
Yummmmm
Gracias por el video
Buena suerte
Antonio
Por nada. Mucho gusto!
going to hell is expensive ???
thank god i'm poor. i'm 100% going to heaven.
😂😂😂
18 levels of Hell shows you the types of punishment befitting the crimes that was done in the mortal world. Some can be extremely grotesques. It is said by the time you reached halfway, most people quit because of the life they have lived.
As a Singaporean Ive never been to Haw Par Villa still gives me the creeps lol.
Haha, it gave us the creeps a little, too! 😉
good job on the video:)
Thanks!
Entry to Hell would be traumatising! But you can always look up videos on youtube if you wanna see what’s inside 😅
Yessss 👍👍
Beware, what u see cannot be unseen at haw par villa.
Hahaha, so true!! 😉
@@cuclainne a flume type of ride would have been fun! And clearly something we'd enjoy based on our 3 zoos in 1 day video. 😂😂😂
The hell museum is good
Funny thing. Our exact subscriber count right now is 9,666. 🙈🙈🙈
last time was free
Everything but Hell is free now. 😊
Yes still traumatised after 30 years
At least you're not alone in feeling that way! 😂
Aww, I'm really sorry to hear that. It's too bad when wealthy people turn away family. 😔
@@TalesFromOurPocket thank God, the government owns the land now
It's free? I though we need to pay to get in to hell lol
Hell definitely costs money to get into! The rest of Haw Par Villa is free though. 😊
If you wish to see the gate way to hell, just looked for others already vlogs in RUclips, so you can saved $18 each person , just watch them.
I like the way you think!!
You win for saying "hell" the most in your comment! 😂
Drag me to hell....and back.
What if the person dragging you lets go? 😱
try a real durian, a life time experience
After just the ice cream experience, I'm sure the real durian is...memorable. 😁😉
last time free of charge, now must pay money
😔
It's more creepy before reno.
😲😲😲
