      This is the exact phrase that made me cry for the first time. It's an emotional series, and I laughed a lot with funny moments, but it's hard for me to cry with these things. But THAT sentence... I started crying and I didn't stop until after the episode credits. What a beautiful anime.

  • @raidiar2021
    @raidiar2021 2 года назад +64

    The ending makes me emotional just by thinking about it. It's so good, and I was also angry that Tohru forgave Kyo because of how much of a coward he was, even at the most pivotal of moments.
    I didn't understand why she forgave him, until I realized it was because he wasn't that person anymore, and Tohru saw that while Kyo didn't. And when they did get together, after Kyo finally overcame his fears and self-loathing, he just shined. He wasn't restricted, and flowed beautifully without any worries left, becoming exactly the man he promised Kyoko he would be.
    I'm not someone that understands love at all. Tohru does, far better than I, but seeing how she did help Kyo realize how amazing he is, love has a beautiful effect.

    • @JCsReviews

      The ending really was emotional and just so good! It didn’t really make me angry that she forgave him because Tohru is the type of person to forgive even if someone did something bad

      I'm a little peeved. The thing that you missed was that Tohru didn't forgive Kyo. It's that there was nothing to forgive kyo for. Kyo didn't let her mom die, he thought he did. He had a moment of hesitation due because of the way he was raised, and by then it was to late to reach Kyoko. When tohru responds to kyo, she strictly says "Are those the only TWO choices I have, to forgive or not forgive" cuz he blamed himself so much for something that was out of his control.

    • @raidiar2021
      @raidiar2021 5 месяцев назад

      @@user-us6vl8cx9g Ok, you're completely right, I was mistaken in thinking Tohru was forgiving Kyo to begin with.
      I have to say, given what you've said, I'm not exactly sure why I ever thought what he did was terrible. The only reason I can find is that Kyo managed to convince me it was his fault, as he told Tohru how he believed he let her mom die.

    Fruits Basket gave me hope as a child from a troubled home. Words can't explain how the manga brought me light as a child when I watched these characters shaped by trauma and abuse find happiness and lead hopeful lives. The fact that they found beautiful lives after living sad childhoods? It was such a novel concept to me. It taught me so much about love and kindness, it wouldn't be a lie to say it raised me.

    Fruits basket is my favorite anime of all time. The characters emotions are explained so well. It doesn’t focus on Tohru entirely despite her being the main protagonist. The series going into other characters backstories, trauma, and feelings about the Soma family makes it easier to have a favorite character, because they actually go into depth about the side characters, even if they don’t contribute too much to the plot. This is truly a wonderful anime that does great on commenting on trauma and general human psychology, as well as relationships and traditions.

    Yuki realizes that the love he feels for Tohru is different. It was Motherly love. Machi calls him as he rushes out to see her because she wanted to see him. It's a little bit nip picking, but I love this story and I've always been a huge fan of the manga. Realizing the kind of love he feels for Tohru is very different from realizing he can't be there for her the way Kyo can.

    Great analysis :) It is sad how much Kyo blames himself for every negative event. I think it's because he was so used to being treated as an 'other' and the 'bad one' within the Souma family as a sort of scapegoat.

    I like the characters' development. Lots of insight about human psychology; trauma, abuses, parenting, rejection, love... ! e.g Yuki, in Season 1 has needs, and is a "taker", in season 3.. he has grown.. because Honda was a good enough mother figure for him.. then he learns to give and care for others.

    i watched the og anime in 2004 ( i was 10) and while growing up in a screwed up family, Fruits Basket was the anime that kept me sane, comforts me. i rewatched 26 episodes anually . i really mean it, anually. Up until i was 14 years old, had my own laptop and i found out about the manga with 136 chapters, it became my holy grail. I learned a lot from all char's backstories, even Tohru. Everything made sense. I guess Fruits Basket is like a therapy for us the broken ones. Fruits Basket 2019 finally gave me the satisfaction that i longed from since 10. Fruits basket change how i view people around me and the way i live my life. I have no shame of saying Honda Tohru is my role model. Fruits Basket trully inspired me. I will always go back to Fruits Basket, anytime , anywhere

    Hey, I've just finished FB season 3 and your video is the first review I see... Because I desperatly need to share somehow this beautiful experience this show allowed me to have.
    I was like you at the beginning ! I thought it was a more than okay show to watch as I progressed in season 1 and I was glad to watch it but I also felt like I was missing something because I heard a lot about this show before starting it, how it was praised.
    I entered the show with too much expectations, this was my mistake because it prevented me to really appreciate it from the start.
    Fortunately, Tohru opened my eyes (who else ?) at the very end of season 1, the moment she turned back to Kyo after he first rejected her in his true form... The look she had instantly reached deeply into me and awoke me because I felt I was not able to fully understand her look. I remember the shock and the growing revelation in the following secondes of what I had truly just watched during that first season.
    From this point on, the rest was an exceptional and unforgettable journey.
    It pains me to say that Fruits Basket is NOT perfect because I want to respect the definition of perfection which is that it can never be reached...
    But at the very least, FB is an all-time masterpiece. Beautifully balanced and an extremely valuable lesson of life. Straight up in my personal Hall of Fame :)
    I would want all this characters to be real so that I could talk to them !
    Only very very few shows have produced such an impression on me before.
    Thank you for your review and all hail to the power of anime !

    This anime got me in tears at the end.
    This anime had so much emotions in it, and the ending was so happy, they all became adults and lived a happy life in the end. The songs and soundtracks are also emotional. Somehow, it bought me to tears at the end, my heart was melting.
    I never wanted this anime to end, it’s the best anime I’ve ever watched.
    Even now, I’m still tearing up (I’m writing this after 2 minutes of finishing the last episode).
    I feel like Tohru now, whenever she heard Kyo’s name, it feels like a knife stabbing her chest. When I hear ‘Fruits Basket’, or even think about it in my head, it gives a strong feeling to my chest.
    I’m definitely going to rewatch this anime for the 4th time on New Year.

    I think Fruits Basket is one of the most perfect anime’s I have ever watched. I thought it was just going to be a cute slice of life, but in season two and three, I was crying in every episode. It made me feel things I didn’t know I needed to experience at some point. Kyo, Yuki, Tohru, Shigure and Hatori are my favorite characters, and I’m so happy about how their stories ended. My only issue was with the age gap relationships, those were brushed over and a little uncomfortable for me, like Kureno and Arisa were cute, but nine years? With a 17 and 26 year old? Umm, okay. Similarly with Akito and Shigure, it was a little weird, but they made sense. Kyoko and Katsuya also with an 8 year age gap with her in MIDDLE SCHOOL? The relationships were cute and well written, but I think they overlooked the age gap, but I know in Japan it’s different with the age of consent, but for me, it was hard to not notice considering Akito was still a child at the time. Other than that, I love Fruits Basket and all the relationships, but at least they address the age gaps, so I’m mostly fine with it.

Also the final season condenses a lot of the later chapters. Season 1 and 2 were pretty accurate with a few cuts here and there but season 3 is really rushed.
