  • If you found out your event has been postponed or cancelled, it's time to figure out how to get your money back! Learn how to request a refund on Ticketmaster with this complete guide!
    The basics are very simple: did your event get postponed or cancelled? These are the only two options we need to worry about.
    If your event has been cancelled, then there is really nothing to do as Ticketmaster will refund your ticket purchase automatically 'in as soon as 30 days'. This could be interpreted in a couple of ways, but in the end you should be expecting your refund to hit your purchase method in around 30 days, plus/minus a few depending on the processing speeds.
    Remember though, a cash refund is only guaranteed for cancelled events that were purchased through Ticketmaster directly; if you bought tickets on the secondary resale market, then each of those marketplaces will have their own individual refund policies. StubHub and others have implemented a credit refund of 120% of your purchase price (which expires at the end of 2021) instead of a cash refund, though those in states which require a cash refund to be paid will still have to issue a cash refund UPON REQUEST ONLY.
    Ticketmaster also offers a credit option instead of cash on certain cancelled events, though the rules are a bit tricky around this because they only apply to events taking place at Live Nation operated venues. You can see a full list of venues which will offer a credit here:
    www.livenationentertainment.c...
    Note that with the credit option from Ticketmaster, just note that the credit will only be able to be used AT THAT SAME VENUE; you cannot use the credit for other Ticketmaster events. So unless you visit that venue often/live in the area, the credit may not necessarily be the best option for you. However, if you do plan on attending that venue again in the future, the 150% credit option may be very viable.
    For postponed events, it depends on whether a new date has been set or not. If a newly rescheduled date has been announced, then there is a 30 day window which will open up from the announcement of the new date to go ahead and request the refund. If no rescheduled date is announced when the event is postponed, then a 60 day clock starts before the refund period will open up. If after 60 days there is no newly rescheduled date, then a 30 day window will open up to request refunds.
    For actually requesting a refund, it's quite simple - log into your Ticketmaster account (NOT ON THE MOBILE APP, can only request a refund through your computer/mobile browser), go the event in question, and then simply hit the big button that says REFUND. It'll confirm the amount and the tickets, and that's basically it!

    A big thank you! You encouraged me to reach out to Ticketmaster one more time for my refund that I requested in 2020 to see if they could give me an estimated date. They actually did!!! It was actually from a real person that gave me a real answer. I did put the word HELP in capital letters in the first sentence this time. Maybe that made a difference. Anyway she said that once the event happens that I will receive my refund within 30 days after the event. This is far more info than I’ve gotten from them before. So I’ll keep my fingers crossed. Thx again! 👍

      You can attempt to request a refund but you would need all the order details as a starter. This includes the order number, the card used, and the tickets purchased.
      After that, it completely depends on where the event is taking place - North America events generally do not allow refunds for events unless they are cancelled/postponed, while European events it is much easier to request

    Hi, a concert has been cancelled and the original account I payed the tickets from is closed. I informed Ticketmaster UK about it (I live in germany), and they told me they refunded the money to my closed account. Apparently it went through even though the account is closed. Went to my old bank, they said my account is closed and there is no way anything could have been sent. (German law states money has to be sent back to the senders account if account is closed). Ticketmaster want proof that the money never came. Bank won’t give me anymore details as all account infos are deleted. What do I do?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  3 года назад

      Good question! If you buy ticket insurance, it only applies if you are unable to attend the event due to a specific eligible reason. If you’re not able to travel due to covid or inclement weather, then you likely should be able to get your money back but would need to double check what is considered an eligible reason.
      You could also sell the tickets if you could no longer travel for the event, but you may not get all your money back depending on if the event is selling for a lot or not on the resale market.

    I bought resale tickets and the weeknd canceled the the tour. I had front row seats for $1200. I tried to request a refund and it said the refund will be transferred to the original buyer. • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад

      For resale tickets, you need to request the refund through the ticket exchange where you purchased the tickets from. If you bought them on Ticketmaster resale, you’ll need to contact Ticketmaster to process the refund through the resale side, not from the box office side. If you bought them from Stubhub/etc then contact them and they will process the refund for you

    I just purchased tickets for a concert next year and got the insurance! I don’t want to go to the event and want my money back, will I be able to and if so how do I got about it ? Would it be by filing a claim on the Allianz site ?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад

      Insurance is tricky because they won’t refund your ticket purchase unless you provide them a valid insurable reason. It would be done through the Allianz site or phone number. Reach out if you have more questions - just make sure you go through the valid reasons available for requesting a refund before you contact them to make sure you’re able to get a refund. The other option will be to sell your tickets as well in case the insurance route doesn’t end up working out for you

    I bought tickets during a presale the actual general public sale is in a few days. When I click the resale button my tickets say ineligible for resale. Does it say that because we are still in the presale stage? In a few days when the tickets are on sale to the general public do you think that will change?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  Год назад +1

      Depends on the event in general, but standard practice is for ticketmaster/AXS not to open resale until the general sale takes place. With that said, some events may not turn on resale at all either so you just need to be aware of that too. If that is the case, you may need to use a different platform to sell your tickets

      Does TM have resale enabled for this event or no? Sounds like TM is 3rd party resale for this event (basically if the event isn’t using a seating map with the red dots then it’s 3rd party). If that’s the case, you likely won’t be able to resell on TM and will need to use another platform to do so (such as Stubhub, viagogo, etc depending on where you live and where the event is taking place)

      Contact Ticketmaster to confirm, but they generally will not be able to issue a credit to the old card (will get denied). What I’ve been hearing from others is that Ticketmaster will issue a cheque refund instead but there is an additional processing time on it (about 3 weeks). They cannot issue the refund to another card unfortunately so a cheque will be your only option. I’ll reach out and try to confirm it though! Best bet on your end will be to get through to the live chat on Ticketmaster and talk to an agent to confirm the refund option

      If the event was cancelled, the refund process should be automatic. Ticketmaster should send you an email saying an event was cancelled and that it’ll be 30 days before refunds will be issued. If the cancellation was only today, just give it a bit of time and then it should automatically begin the process for you

      For an event that is postponed, it depends on the artist/promoter to open up the refund window. Generally speaking, if there is a postponement with no immediately rescheduled date, then the refund window remains closed for a period of up to 60 days, after which it is then enabled to request a refund at that time (Ticketmaster policy). Once a new date has been set, or 60 days passes, then the refund window will open up for requests.
      For selling tickets, when an event is in the postponed stage, generally speaking Ticketmaster will turn off resale during the period until a new date has been set. You can still look to sell the tickets on a different platform such as Stubhub or others, but you generally won’t be able to sell it on Ticketmaster direct until a date is set

      When did the event get postponed? If it has now been 60 days, you should be eligible to get a refund by requesting one from Ticketmaster directly, though you would have only had 30 days from that point. Otherwise, you’ll now need to wait until they officially reschedule the event. Once they do, you’ll be given another 30 day window to request a refund at that point

    I requested a refund in 2020. Ticketmaster says my refund is still be big processed. That when the venue or promoter gets the funds, then I will get them. I’ve contacted Ticketmaster at least 6 X over this and continue to get the same answer. I wonder if I should get my credit card company involved. The rescheduled concert is happening in May. It’s for a big name and at a stadium. They should have funds.

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад

      That’s very concerning for sure. I generally view chargebacks as a last resort for ticketmaster issues, so would ideally contact ticketmaster again and see what the status is. If they are unable to answer your questions/give you a reasonable timeline, then you may need to resort to the chargeback option. I agree that they should have the funds, the issue is the promoter of the event is independent of the venue itself, so it’s possible the promoter isn’t returning funds until the event takes place (which is silly anyway) but without firsthand knowledge it’s hard to say one way or another

These last 2 have been in “limbo” for quite awhile now. If I do decide to get my credit card co involved (chargeback) do you think that Ticketmaster will close my account? I realize I might be black listed. I do know a couple of other people in this singer’s fan club that were successful with the chargeback, but they didn’t mention anything about their accounts being blocked.

      If no refund button is available, you can attempt to contact Ticketmaster or the box office directly to see if they can extend a refund offer to you, however they generally will only allow refunds during specified periods. If you purchased ticket insurance, you can contact the insurance provider to get a claim processed that way. If you didn’t get insurance, you then may need to look into selling your ticket directly instead and try to recover your funds that way. While not guaranteed to get all your money back, this will enable you to actually recover some/all of your money spent.

      You can attempt to reach out to Ticketmaster/the venue and request one, I think it’ll depend on the event promoter and venue, not Ticketmaster. I’ve heard some venues are slowly allowing refunds, but not all of them. Definitely worth a try! Otherwise, you can try to sell them but I’d attempt the refund option first

      Unfortunately ticket sales are final 99% of the time. You can attempt to contact the site where you purchased the tickets from but generally they won’t be able to help you out :( you could attempt to try and find someone who has tickets for the other show and see if they would be willing to trade with you. Or just sell the tickets and use the money to buy the correct show date

      Hello! Was the event postponed or cancelled? If postponed, you should still have tickets for the new date. If cancelled, then the tickets should be removed from your list and you should have received a refund for your order. If it was postponed and you don’t see the upcoming event though, then definitely reach out to Ticketmaster and be sure to reference your order confirmation to see what happened

      You need to identify the tickets on Ticketmaster you want to upgrade to, and they need to be in a more expensive section than what you paid for your tickets from Ticketmaster. Contact customer service to say that is what you’re trying to do and then they will tell you to go ahead and purchase the new tickets and they will only charge for the difference in price. Make sure you get approval from Ticketmaster first before purchasing any new upgrade tickets though. If they don’t approve the upgrade then it won’t work

      Hmm in that case standard practice is when they cancel events directly on Ticketmaster like that, you don’t need to request the refund but rather it will take place usually up to 30 days after the official cancellation takes place. It is possible the customer service rep you got had no idea how to confirm the event was cancelled, but you are definitely entitled to your refund. If it was only recently cancelled (ie in the last day or two) then could take a little while before Ticketmaster sends out the cancellation email. If it’s been more than a few days though, then would definitely be following up with Ticketmaster directly. It can be a bit slower if you bought a resale ticket rather than one directly through the original box office release

      @@thumbsuprunI believe it did get cancelled about a week ago. They’re still saying it isn’t cancelled and Ticketmaster also insists that I file a claim with my insurance but if I do that I won’t get the full refund it said up to a certain amount. I’ll end up losing around $50.

      Normally that isn’t an option for most tickets as many are final sale. Your best recourse at that point would be to try and sell the tickets. Other option if you bought the insurance would be to try and make a claim, though it is quite restrictive. Selling seats is usually the best way to recover your money (in my biased opinion)

    • @thumbsuprun

      Unfortunately it is because ticket insurance doesn’t enable you to get a refund for just not wanting to attend, but only for their covered reasons in their list. If you are sick, in traffic, have other travel issues, lose your job etc, then they would be willing to give you a refund. I would recommend trying to sell your ticket instead if you’re no longer looking to attend the event

      Have you tried to contact Ticketmaster support directly? Some venues are being very difficult with issuing back refunds so that is part of the delay, I would reach back out to Ticketmaster again and see what the status of your refund is. It is also possible they may have issued you a credit so double check your account for that as well. Lastly, if the event was only postponed and not cancelled, then you may be stuck with the tickets at this point.
