- This video explains how you can vent the water pipe on a Side by Side model that has an internal water tank. This action should be done in case the tank is full and correctly inserted, but water does not come out when pressing the dispenser lever.

Thank you! After spending at least 3 hours on a fine Sunday afternoon trying to figure out why it dispensed neither water nor ice (and watching 20+ videos on the subject), your workaround finally did the trick! Thank you!
For those who wonder how it worked: I had to suck on the white pipe while pressing the dispenser button. After a couple of seconds of sucking, the water finally came out and the dispenser started working. As for the ice, I had to remove the top and bottom covers from the refrigerator door by hand, press that small button at the bottom right side (not the on/off button! the white button is at the bottom of the mechanism, at the most right side, it's easier to feel than to see) which caused the empty cube tray to do its rollover thing and then water came out to fill in the empty cube cases. I didn't do anything in the blue pipe. I'll leave it for a few hours to see if it starts creating ice cubes.
Thanks for elaborating on your experience. And good to hear what worked for you. Do note that some models are designed a bit different, so the button may be positioned on different locations and in some cases it is a pin hole rather than a button. If you really had to suck on the pipe, this is not normal. The pump in that case may also need to be checked if the problems re-occurs.

I called support and the mechanic came by. With the steps of the video he fixed it.
Only difference was not doing it a few times, but like 20 times. So keep repeating these steps before you call support.

No, the ice maker and water dispenser are located in the left door, the freezer door.
I have a LG refrigerator with non-plumbed Water tank, can I water-link the ice-maker and water from outer source by link it with the back hose instead of using the water tank ?
No, I'm afraid this is not possible. first of all, the control board 'expects' to have a water tank and a pump it needs to drive when there a water requested. The timing for the water release is completely disturbed, and more problems..

The old model will have a 1/4" connector on the bottom. But newer has 2 lines like this clip.
Just insert it as far as it goes. And yes you can remove the tank if you like. Be sure to turn off the ice maker in that case.

and how do I do that with the blue hose? it doesn't work there.
If venting does not work, it may be necessary to contact support and get an engineer over to check on the issue.
How to force the pump fill water in the blue hose? It pumps no water into the icemaker. Air is outside the white one. Water comes out but no ice.

I've tried this workaround but simply my LG refrigerator does not have the blue and white hoses?
Ah, I've found them. I had to open the freezer for being able to reach them on the bottom of the freezer.
Hello and thanks for the explanation, it somehow helped ... But maybe it would be good to mention that there seem to be different models of LG refrigerators? In my case: if I look at the location of the white and the blue hose and where they go to, there is no other explanation possible that through the white hose the water is fetched from the tank, and through the blue hose water dispenser AND ice machine are supplied. Consequently, doing the proposed actions from the video with the BLUE hose solved the problem for me!
Thank you for your elaborate comment. You are right, that comment may help. We are in charge of the European market and even in our market there are different models available. Units with an ice maker and water dispenser do get their water supply from the tank, but below at the pump area the connection is separated. Water is pumped out based on the request from the dispenser or the ice maker. If in your case the blue hose solved the issue for the water dispenser I'm curious about the model number you have.

It is called a water pipe or hose. (length may be specified as is likely 5 or 6.5 meters).
This can helo for air blockage as well
Actually that is what is demonstrated here. Venting means letting possible air traps out .
Hi, i tried this but water is not dispensing from the pipe from behind the fridge. What can be the issue?
Do you hear a pump sound when pressing the dispense button? It may be the pump then that a malfunctioning, there could be other problems, I suggest you contact your local LG support desk.
Try to take a straw or smth and then suck on the water pipe while pushing the water dispensery button on the front. I just did this today and it worked. First when i did this i did it without sucking the pipe and no water came out. With sucking on the pipe it eventually worked out. but be ready to spit it out and have a second person there to assist you.

Does your model have an ice maker? If not, then this is normal, because the white pipe goes to the water dispenser. Our sample unit has both water and ice, so 2 pipes (white for water, blue for ice). If your unit does have both water and ice, then please consult your owners manual or contact your local helpdesk to get additional support.
