I love the line “I hope you’re happy.” At the the end. The double meaning makes me cry.
Bo is saying it in the context of “I hope I’ve done a good enough job that you are happy.” But also “Are you happy with what you have done to me?” His messages always make me cry. I hope he is doing better now.

This song is meant to be a parody but it breaks down after the burrito bit and Bo bears his soul. He'd been having major anxiety through his comedy career, particularly in front of a live crowd and had been having severe panic attacks while on stage. This song was his way of telling everybody that he didn't think he could handle it right then, and he took a 5 year break from live performances after this performance. The song is funny, it's inspirational, it's incredible. I hope you look at more of his work.

Thanks for reacting to Bo. “He’s a ridiculous human and I love him” is pretty spot on. This piece is my favourite of his. Although I heard him say in an interview that there were no intentional metaphors, I find that difficult to fathom give him the perfection of them. If he chose this metaphor subconsciously, then he is even more of a genius than I thought. I see the Pringles can as a metaphor for the boxes that we are told to fit into in life and how they are all just too small and too tight and many of us feel like we just can’t fit. Why can’t they just make the boxes wider? I felt like this about the medicine. The burrito is life. What we think we want isn’t what will actually make us happy, and we waste a lot of our time and energy accruing things that we think we want only to discover we have a mess at the end and that wasn’t that we wanted at all. I got to the point where I just couldn’t handle it right now either and I walked away from my career. I tried to give patients the care and compassion that I could never find for myself. Sigh. It’s like he’s in my head. And to know that he was having an active panic attack during this and the third scream at the end was just visceral. It guts me. I feel his pain.

Sometimes the best ideas just come out of you; that perfect spontaneous reply, or that perfect social media post, or that perfect project; and sometimes you realize later why they came out of you and what was really behind it. Even if he was not consciously aware of it at the time, I think it came straight out of his subconscious mind.

I have no way to verify this, but I’ve heard that towards the end during this bit, Bo was actively having a panic attack due to the idea of telling his fans that he can’t handle the big life for a bit. So some of those outbursts were his way of trying to artistically work through the panic attack without messing up the show.

Popular urban legend, likely stemming from people knowing about the panic attacks and just how exact he has his shows planned and timed. He addressed this in an interview at one point. There were still a handful of shows left after this one was filmed. Judging from what else he’s said this is probably during the timeframe he was having frequent panic attacks, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he cried after this she was over.

@@WafleEnterprises there’s a really good interview he did with vulture a couple years after this about this song’s meaning and what he was dealing with at the time. Idk if the post-show 2 hour breakdown is fully accurate, but he does talk about going back stage and having an emotional meltdown after the show. Regardless of it being 2 hours or 20 minutes…it’s the same in my mind. I know what living with panic attacks is like and can confirm that that’s a pretty normal part of it.

Like any good book or essay following the format of: say what you're gonna say, say it, then tell them what u said; his last song in that special is also worth a reaction. I think the beginning of the song is supposed to sound ridiculous, but they are actually metaphors. I can't handle this= Pringles are in a can, and he can't properly handle the chips to get them out. Messy burrito= the burrito is about how expectations can become overwhelming and can make someone a mess. You can even say the crumbs at the bottom of the can are excess expectations. Bo has always been a perfectionist, to a fault. It's awesome that he is taking time to really see what he needs and not what others need from him.

The chipotle reference relates to his career. The burrito expert is supposed to guide him as he builds his burrito to make sure he doesn't overdo it. He doesn't do a good job and he wouldn't have got a lot of the ingredients if he knew how it'd turn out.
Back to his career, the burrito expert is his agent. His agent is supposed to support him as he builds his career and make sure he doesn't take on too much. His agent failed him. He became overwhelmed resulting in or furthering the mental health decline which culminated in this performance and the 5 year break that followed

    • @unclefoot
      @unclefoot Год назад

I hate being the “Umm, actually” guy but Bo didn’t write the Pringles and Burrito sections to be metaphors for anything. Bo wrote them as silly, first world problem misdirects. I get why so many people project these additional layers onto this song (it’s right up there as his best work for me) but unfortunately thats just not accurate. Bo did an AWESOME interview with Vulture a couple years after this came out and spoke directly on those 2 subjects that people were interpreting as metaphors. He didn’t intend them to be and even claimed that if there was a connection, it wasn’t intentional.
I promise I’m not trying to rain on your parade or be a dick…I’ve brought this up on other reactions to this song and it’s general dissolved into pointless bickering lol. I don’t want that…it’s just important to me as a fan of Bo’s work that we see what’s actually there instead of what we want to be there. Like I said, I’m a HUGE fan of Bo’s…and a lot of his work touches on this kind of thing. There’s the artist, the art itself, and the audience that experiences that art. Bo’s keenly aware of how the intent of the artist can get lost in translation between artist and observer. We gotta take that part of his work into consideration too ya know?
Like I said, it’s not my intention to rain on your parade…just wanted to give a different perspective on it.
      Cheers

@Uncle Foot Pringles is just a funny bit but not the Chipotle section. That's why he says "You can tell then anything if you make it funny, make it rhyme". He's using the Chipotle as a joke to convey his career issue.
And if they still don't get it, then you hit them one more time. Listen to it again

    • @unclefoot
      @unclefoot Год назад

@@phyar7194 I get that angle. It makes sense…but, once again Bo said it’s not related. He did extend an olive branch in the interview I referenced and said that maybe he did something subconsciously when he was writing it but I have to take him at his word.
      How I interpret the:
“You can tell them anything if you just make it funny, make it rhyme. And if they still don’t understand you then you run it one more time”
line is within the context of what lead up to it. He poured his heart out and spoke his truth. He can’t handle doing this anymore. He can’t take the pressure and pain of it. But he can’t stop, he still has a job to do…he still has to give the audience the night out that they deserve. hence the
“I should probably just shut up and do my job so here I go”.
The lighting changes to the single floodlight behind him and he goes back into the burrito lines. You can’t see his face, only his silhouette. That could be interpreted as he is no longer speaking his truth, he’s back to being just another faceless entertainer.
Then he gives the line you referenced. I take that as
“You don’t care about me. You don’t know the half of what I as a human being am dealing with. I could tell you anything and as long as it’s entertaining you’ll be happy. But I’m not happy…and I’m going to speak my truth one more time in the hopes that you understand.”
And then the lights go nuts and you see his face again as he reprises:
“I can’t handle this right now”
Or at least that’s how I interpret it…art is subjective after all. I really do recommend you watch the interview he did where he talked about it. Just in general it’s a fascinating dive into his writing process. Here’s a link to it, the convo about the burritos starts at around the 11:20 mark.

Pretty sure this was the gig/song where Bo went off stage and had a mental breakdown/panic attack for two hours after this.
Bo has issues with depression and this bit was a jab and how pathetic kanye is yes, but it's so layered and deep for him personally.

It's actually crazy if you think about the lyrism. He isn't just talking about pringles cans and burritos, those are metaphors for the much heavier problems he goes on about later in this piece. " I don't think that I can handle this right now" can - pringles can, handle - can't get your hand, into the pringles can to handle the chips. With the burrito, talking about how he wouldn't have taken half this shit if he had known it was going to come spilling out. In the same way that he wouldn't have taken on half the responsibilities of a public figure/ well known comic if he had known the mental stress would have spilled out and ruined other portions of his life.
This was his last live performance over 5 years ago, and he stop preforming because he was having panic attacks on stage during his sets. That's what he is referring to when he talks about steadily declining mental health. So although, yea you're correct, he is just doing it to make fun of Kanye, I think he's also using it as a huge form of self outlet and emotional offloading.

It’s funny that from this you call him a ridiculous person because all the stuff that made him famous before this is far more ridiculous and also my favorite Bo material. His lyricism even early on was so ridiculous. He fits so many clever references in his rap style songs that it’s impossible to catch them all. I appreciated the hell out of that. It was crass and crude and funny and today he tries to run as far as he can away from it because he’s above that now, and I think he sucks for that. It’s my favorite stuff and if he hadn’t done it there would be no audience today for his “high brow” “inclusive” art.

None of us are fully functional...at least not all the time. Show me a single person that has no mental health issues...I think we all have some. The first time I heard this song, I cried because I can just hear his pain. He's crazy good at what he does, but he has issues, too. To be fair, on top of any issues he had beforehand, Kanye has to be even more messed up after spending so much time around the Kardashian clan.

This was the worst review I've ever seen of Bo's Kanye Rant... 0/10 this is another example of why reactors are getting canceled... Goodluck guy

    • @bradd.1339

Looking at this from the level of watching a comedian, it's easy to miss the depth of the song. A bit harsh to say this is the reason why reactors get canceled. Knox does have a great breakdown of this song, so does the third ernest. But again, saying a "real review" is disingenuous. His review might be surface level and not up to your standard, but it is his review and is just as real as any others. Honestly, its about the same as most people who have reviewed the song.

@@Mike024ipi even minimal commentary is still commentary, so no it isn't media theft. You didn't like it, and that's your opinion. Sure, I would say he didnt pit in full effort or wasn't as attentive as usual, but that isn't cause to be hypercritical and shit on the channel. You may have watched several to dozens of reactions to this song, and have a biased opinion about how someone should react to it. This appears to be dude's first listen through of it, and picking up the layers of the song isn't easy when you go in expecting a comedian. You do seem to have a very negative personality, so trying to reason more than this is futile. Have the day you deserve.😊

@@bradleylawrence658 that I can agree with. Typically Mr. Loyd is very quick to point out the small nuances of a song and pick apart layers. This one wasn't quite up to the same standard.
