This is the last song from the last show on his tour before he took that five year break. When he's yelling ("HAA!") near the end, you can hear his voice breaking.
"you can tell them anything as long as you make it funny make it rhyme, and if they don't understand then run it one more time... I don't think that I can handle this right now" I've always felt that no one ever noticed that little switch there, where he says if they don't understand it run it one more time and he follows it up by saying he can't handle this right now.
One thing that gets overlooked is that the very last time he says the "Handle this" refrain he doesn't say "I can't handle this right now." He says "Handle this right. I'll handle this right now." And then proceeds to stop doing live comedy for years while he literally does just that.
Just so you both know, this was a one-man show. He did everything; lights, autotuning, all of it. And as I'm sure many comments have pointed out, he was actively having a panic attack on stage near the end. You can see it in the tenseness of his face and body, and honestly, I have problems watching the videos for this part of his act because I know those signs way too well, having my own anxiety and depressive issues. I see him on stage breaking, and I feel like screaming at my screen "Get that man off the fucking stage, he's goddamn dying up there."
One thing I like is that one guy KNOWS this song… knows what it is about.. the other dude is enamored by the song, the beat, the deepness. He’s enamored into Bo. He’s. Inside.
that's great! I wish when they reacted to this, they'd play his speech right beforehand. It's so well stated and really leads into this...but it's Bo, so I don't really have to say that :)
I genuinely think he is the best ARTIST of this generation. There's lots of better musicians but everytime I listen to Bo I feel and learn something. Just so genuine. TRUE ART
I always get so annoyed at the crowd for cheering after he begins the segment after "....do my job, so here I go." It's like nobody even listened to those lines.
@Drake Hershberger To be fair, they’re in a pretty tough position lol. They paid to come see a comedy show, and they’re watching what was clearly a painstakingly put together production…I’d probably feel just as weird not cheering the sheer skill of the performance as I would cheering after those lyrics. I feel for Bo, but he put the audience in an impossible position.
It gives the vibe from the "I wouldn't got half of it" line. Which drives the point to "You can't do everything in your life you live your life, you have to shred some of them to make your own flavor", hence the metaphor appears apperantly.
The ingredients of the burrito represent everything that came with him being famous. If he knew, he would not have gotten half of them. And the screams at the end where real. He was actively having a panic attack, that's why he got off stage that fast. He said he cried for several hours backstage.
There's literally interview footage of him refuting the idea that the burrito is symbolic. He's also said that the theory that the screams at the end were unplanned is an internet urban legend. Bo plans his performances meticulously.
He walked off stage and had a panic attack after that. He was breaking, inside, in front of our eyes in that performance as everything came to the surface. His art is just too powerful sometimes. He has that Carlin energy of taking comedy to a more meaningful place without becoming pretentious about it
@@DetroitNickel Bo Burnham actually took five years off of performing live specifically because he was having panic attacks on stage. He talks about it in Inside with the song All Eyes On Me. Beyond that Bo actually did come out and say that he had a massive panic attack after this performance and spent like two hours losing his shit in his dressing room prior to a meet and greet.
@@LorieLynnI'm aware of his break, however I only know for sure he said that he has panic attacks during this tour, not this performance, and people keep blowing it into tour specific performance with he's a performer, it's what he does. But my language was harsh and wrong and I'm glad you made this comment so I could correct it. I apologize for calling op an idiot
someone has probably already mentioned this... but im not going through a youtube comment section to find out... at the end when he's yelling seemingly randomly... he's attempting to dump the anxiety. When my shit spikes i start burping and yawning incessantly (im not even going to pretend to understand why)... and i start twitching (which freaks some of my friends out lol)... so i can't even imagine how he keeps going while on stage.
"I hope youre happy" is such a double. "A part of me loves you, A part of me hates you" Its like half of him genuinly hope youre happy but its also like, "There, I did the thing, you happy?"
I also think it’s kind of odd that everyone misses the signals he gives the audio department to do what he wants them to do when he’s not mixing himself. Am I the only one seeing that?
Damn, the bo jangles reference was not a bad one. They are actually really similar in this song. You need to hear the meaning not just the words in both.
He thinks differently. He isn’t working hard to perform. He’s showing you what he’s thinking rn. Like stream of consciousness. The music is simple and he’s gifted, he can def do that second nature. I’m not explaining it well…like tonal music is his native language. Gotta be neurodivergent.
Can you please react to "Are you happy?" It is last song in Make happy special, right after this song. But look for version that was in special, no some custom lyric video. please.
Incase it hasn't been said yet at the end the first two yells were scripted, the third was his way of pushing through the panic attack he was having on stage, he then went off stage had the panic attack and stopped doing shows for years to help himself get better.
Yeah not but he’s telling a story of him not being able to handle tge fame he never wanted so I wouldn’t got the cheese if I knew it fit the cheddar abd tge lettuces did fit his life so he’s not happy I hope you are 🤯
So many of the most brilliant comedic souls struggle with serious inner demons. And as fans, we either choose not to see it, or we can't see it from the ground looking up to pedestal we put them on.

That last scream wasn't in the script, which is a huge deal since Bo never improvises during a set
He was having an actual panic attack

Intrigued not enamored
They really represent the duality of Bo fans
I see what you did there
That last 5 sec is really shows artist vs singer. Bo's work encourages everyone to lift their game.

Yall need to react to Bo's newer stuff, i recommend his song "Comedy" next, it's out of this world! thanks guys.
Some people interpret the burrito as a metaphor for him trying to fit too much into his life that he can't handle.
Similar with the trying to reach the bottom of a Pringles can.
According to Bo it's not a metaphor just him being silly. But I can totally see the burrito metaphor as I caught it when I first heard it
It gives the vibe from the "I wouldn't got half of it" line. Which drives the point to "You can't do everything in your life you live your life, you have to shred some of them to make your own flavor", hence the metaphor appears apperantly.

Fun fact, he’s controlling all the auto tune and effects live with a loop pedal at his feet
He's got a mixer right at his feet to do those changes.
