Thanks so much for posting! we tried to visit and thought it would be open until 5 but the last tour is at 3:30 so it was closed at 4 when we got there (i guess if no one is there for the final tour they close early) - just an FYI for anyone planning a visit!

Spent many winters there before you had to pay. Ate lots of acid and climbed cliffs and slept with rattle snakes. So sad that it is dry during part of the year. Many life forming memories in that canyon. My daughters middle name is canyon because of that canyon.

The Native Americans of the Aqua Caliente are Cahuilla ( Ka -Wee-ah) . I enjoy watching your hiking videos. Just alittle information to share. They lived in the Riverside, Cherry Valley, San Gorgonio Pass all the way to the Salton Sea. I love history and hiking. They predate the Serraanos by 100 years.

Thanks for posting. We used to hike these falls and the ones further up - I think there were three - in the early 70's. We'd pack all our food in and all our trash and waste out. The trail was very narrow then, more like a goat trail than the manicured one you see here.
All I wore during the day was a leather thong around my waist to hold my drinking cup! What a great place to hang with my high school buddies (Whittier High School class of '72).
    Good times!

Okay. I have super 8 movie of me and my buddies inside Tahquitz 50 years ago. Really. I can't even remember much of a trail. I do remember scrambling over boulders, "bucket brigading" our provisions up stream. Provisions consisting of guitars, a gallon glass container of Red Mountain, sleeping bags, spam and pancake mix, LSD. We ran into only one other "camper"--a hippie with imprsessive Jesus curls who slithered out from a rock he'd claimed for his permanent abode. He eyed my super 8 with a covetousness that made me nervous.....We were goofy adventurers, no doubt. Pretty much everyone was back then. Lots of enthusiasm, little preparation. Tahquitz was magic........

I remember hiking up here to party, with a cooler full of beer, back in the 80's. We never paid back then, we just went. Of course, they'd patrol on horseback, and kick you out if you got caught. There was, what seemed, a whole tribe of squatters living above the falls, and eating out of the supermarket dumpsters down on Hwy 111.
Was a great place to cool off in the Summertime. Although, the trail could be a bit treacherous lugging a huge cooler of beer on your shoulder. Good times back then !!!

Thank you for sharing this during those good times of deluge. I went there one week ago (Oct 25th ,2021), it was my first time, and sadly I saw none of that water! It was completely dried out! the waterfall was gone, the swimming pool gone, no streams, nothing. I am watching your video and amazed to see the difference between wet and dry season. Wow so much water when you went! I am waiting for the rainy season so badly! One thing I loved was no graffiti nor trash, no thugs smoking/kussing/playing loud offensive music... I guess that is thanks to the fee you pay and the keen supervision by the rangers. So I stand in support of the entrance fee and all the supervision, without it the place would be riddled with garbage and graffiti, so pay that fee and respect rules and you will have an enjoyable hike. I have been to places with no fees and no supervision and seen the disgusting consequences, you don't enjoy and it ruins all your tranquility and makes you angry to see how destructive and filthy some people can be.
