    How many visits to a service center in six months does it take for you to call this thing a piece of shit? It blows my mind the double standard tesla fan boys have. If they bought a toyota and it had only one of these issues, they would get to work calling the brand garbage.

      Absolutely! It's totally fine to give some layaway for the first or second mass-produced car. But at some point, you can expect them to build better quality checks and just overall catch more issues right away.

      The fact that it is popped on there with plastic trim retainers like normal vehicles only use on plastic trim pieces mainly under the hood is a joke. Any parts of the exterior body should be welded together. The entire truck body should be one piece that everything else is attached to after it is mounted on the frame. Otherwise all of the parts attached to it will not be removable once it is completely assembled.

    A $100,000 vehicle that's "been in service pretty much every month" since it was bought?
    Still, it comes with floor mats.
    Wait - even at $100K he needs to buy 3rd-party floor mats?
    I can't wait to see how that single windshield wiper copes with snow load in winter.

    • @Scotter4536
      @Scotter4536 27 дней назад +2

      And this guy probably doesn't know that much about cars, but windshield wipers are supposed to strip at the point that they connect to the motor when there's too much torque, so that the motor doesn't get destroyed.
      This usually doesn't happen unless the wiper blade is stuck in ice or heavy snow. If it failed already under just normal conditions, that's a huge design flaw.

    • @ziploc2000
      @ziploc2000 24 дня назад +3

      I recently got a used Chevy Bolt for ~$20k and it didn't come with rubber floormats, so I invested $89 on custom ones (off Amazon), which are great. Even a regular non-fitted set is about $40 at WalMart, so I figured get the ones that actually cover the floor.
      Now I just have to figure out how to spend the remaining $79,011 I didn't spend on a Cybertruck.

      Go buy a Porsche 911, Ferrari, Lambo, even a performance BMW or Mercedes, it's required that they come in for regular service that you cannot blow off like you could most common cars. Those maintenance intervals are mandatory for high end cars. Teslas are high performance by require extremely little service over their lifetime in comparison

      Well lets see then:
      - Warranty issues include, fit and finish, like every other vehicle ever made in it's initial production run, all of which is fixed now.
      - Service issues regarding delays and difficulty getting repairs or replacements, which again, is the same for any new model as it begins its life cycle.
      - Camera delay issues - BAM! OTA update and fixed.
      But lets be real about what's really going on here. Gas heads, who are programmed by big oil propaganda to stop electric vehicles from existing, which they've botched terribly, not that they had any chance anyway, considering EVs are a disruptive technology, but that doesn't change the fact that guys like you can't get their heads out of their asses enough to see the technological development going on around them. You're literally the people who, when the automobile was invented, sat on their front porches, rocking back and forth in their rocking chairs, polishing their rifles, laughing at the 'new fangled contraption' stating "those dagnabit, auto-whats-its will NEVER last. There's nothing wrong with a perfectly good horse."
      Are you REALLY going to sit there and defend oil companies that have systematically destroyed the environment around you, and allow gas cars to continue to spew toxic fumes out the back of HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF CARS into the air YOUR CHILDREN breathe? I hope you apologize to them when they're older for contributing to their early death. I was a licensed mechanic for YEARS. I did thousands of E-tests and diagnostics. What am I testing for? Co2 and NOX. I'm not testing to see if there's any deadly gases coming out AT ALL, I'm testing to make sure THE SPEC AMOUNT IS COMING OUT.
      Go ahead, put your mouth on the exhaust tip of your F-350 diesel for 60 seconds. I'll wait in the driveway with my electric car that has NO EXHAUST AT ALL so I can take you to the hospital. Now multiply that exhaust by hundreds of millions of them, and you start to realize just how bad the problem is.
      But hey, at least you can stand around a Charger Hellcat, holding a beer with AC/DC cranking out Shoot to Thrill on the radio as you and two other monkeys grunt when someone revs the engine so you can say "Yeah man, sounds so cool. You're a stud because your car makes a noise."
      Gas cars and trucks are going away. So is individual ownership of vehicles. And thank god for that. No more country bumpkins and metro druggies killing themselves and others because they thought they were invincible behind the wheel of that car while they were hammered, stoned, or worse. No more insurance, car payments, fuel costs, parking fees, repairs, maintenance.
      No more parking lots, more green parks. No more air pollution as all systems requiring a motor go electric as battery tech evolves. It gets better literally every day. There is no need for gas in the future, and it never should have existed in the first place. Electric vehicles were starting at the same time gas cars were. It was Henry Ford who chose gasoline when he created the assembly line, and that put the nail in the coffin of electric vehicles. The world, including geopolitics and foreign policy would look drastically different today had not used fossil fuels.
      There's a bigger picture surrounding the disruption of fossil fuels. I suggest you look into it, because it's in fact, your future, whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

    When other companies come out with a new build, there might be some minor issues, but it won't literally fall apart out from under you. Tesla just seems to give zero Fs about quality control. I dunno, maybe Elon fired that whole department on X one day? Tesla has been needled about poor build quality from the outset, but the excuse was always that they were a new company and still learning. They've been building cars for about 20 years now. That's no longer an excuse. It just shows how little Tesla cares about quality. It's great that their service centers are so helpful, but with that many failures, every single one of those CTs would have qualified as a lemon under federal law. They should literally just print IDGAF across the dash to remind you, as you're driving down the road, that Tesla didn't really care about building your truck properly.
    I like Tesla. I've been lusting after a MX for about a decade, but they're just too expensive. After watching multiple reviews, the CT just seems like a giant face-palm for Tesla. Yes, it's cool and the tech is awesome...but it's also just...junk. It's not a first model/new build thing, it's a Tesla culture issue. Until they fix that, nothing will change. I'm just surprised people continue to spend 6 digits on crap like this. Boggles the mind.

    Ty Chris! Excellent video. I would luv to have Drive By Wire, air suspension, additional inside space, fold-up rear seat, rear screen UI, truck bed with electric cover, electric frunk, front camera w/wiper, outlets, and home backup; I could not bring myself to pay $100K vs. $50K for the Model Y and a trailer. I expected Tesla to have a few issues to resolve and improvements to deliver over the next 3 to 5 years. After almost a year of driving the Model Y, "No other EV comes close to the quality, features, or pricing of the MYLR." I spent a year reviewing and driving other options. Overpriced, under-engineered beta releases from Tesla's competition.

    I'd never get one and this is coming from someone who has a Tesla MYLR. Why wouldn't I get one? For a reason you didn't mention: range. Simply put, the putrid range makes this a no-go for me, especially since the Silverado just came out with 450+ miles of range. For $100K, this needed at least a 175kW battery, if not 205kW, like the Silverado has. I think 175kW would be perfect, which would probably give it 410 miles of range and make it lighter (the Silverado weighs 8800 lbs, which is super heavy). The range is simply unacceptable for a $100K car.

    We have ours for about a month - only 1200 miles so far and no issues and no service visits. The major thing I wish the truck had is a pass through to the truck bed. I realize that the rolling tonneau cover would have to be redesigned and some sort of mechanical failsafe lockout mechanism would have to be in place on the tracks to prevent the thing from rolling open or shut when you had that pass thru open. I want my dogs to be in the truck bed but able to come into the backseat area as needed. Same goes for hauling longer items. Twice now I had to have long pieces stick out of the tonneau cover. That cover does great because I roll it down far enough to "pinch" the long items stick out over the tailgate enough so where they can't shift around during hard corners, etc. Love it - it is badass and intimidating and that exactly the look I'm going for.

    For the truck to take so long to finally hit the market and then come out with so many problems for such a high price seems like a failure in the design. Is this really the best vehicle Tesla could have made? Does this car help Tesla continue to follow its vision statement? The most impressive thing about the cybertruck for me is that people can spend $100,000 to $120,000 on a truck that doesn’t do what was promised and doesn’t have all the features people paid for when they bought it and yet owners are on uniformly irate. No other car company would have that kind of loyalty from their customer base.

    its hard owning a tesla here in the surrounding dallas area , the service center is crazy buzy , they generally dont have a loaner, its a life consuming process.. Ive been there once , I cannot imagine 4-8 times on the same car , id need to be retired to go that often.

    Do the hat & sunglasses combo come with the truck or are they prerequisites for buying one?

    Were you able to discover which factory it was built at? Considering most of your issues were build related, I'm curious to know if it's directly related to factory practices.

    It's deprecation loss is 25% to 50% at 5 years where a ICE vehicle deprecation is only 4% a year... Fit and finish sucks... Loose trim everywhere... Steering by wire will kill someone when a sensor fails and you have NO steering linkage .....

    I'm sorry but it's a truck. If it gets scratched, it's scratched. It's a truck. Also all trucks have beds to place product in, as well as having rear seats that fold. It's common.

    New product, new problems, old story. I think they will sort the issues out in time. The factory is probably the most advanced in the industry and their attention to fixing problems on the line is I suggest, second to none.
