      Pressure washing will also flush out all the lubricants from every bearing and shaft lever etc meaning you will need to strip it down and lubricate everything! Most lawn tractor manuals state do not pressure wash for this reason but rather blow debris away with air blower after every use, which has not happened with this machine, shame.

      I can't believe how he turned the bike around. When he was riding he really isn't a goldwing type person. More of a hopped up dirt biker. By hopped up I mean powerful. When mowing before you sharpened the blades I could see long stems still sticking up, hither and yon. Almost every lawnmower today just uses a Briggs engine because high performance isn't it. When you look at the new side by side little units I don't know if Honda makes one or not. Around here they rod the piss out of them so why they only last around a year.

      That engine was designed as an auxillary power unit for generators and pumps etc.. and the boffins at Honda decided to use it when they were designing their first garden tractor. Mine is exactly forty years old with having used Mobile 1 full synthetic it's entire life, still pushes 120lbs compression on both cylinders. The only drawback is due to it's pre-dating quick mower attachment designs with a lot of fussing around required to remove/replace mower deck. My neighbours have all gone through any number of John Deeres, Craftsman, and the like while this beauty just keeps showing off it's quiet ability to cut grass consistantly year after year.

    Great video. I used to take my small engine stuff to a local guy for repairs. He asked me one day if I was tired of wasting money at his shop? He went on to tell me to use premium non-ethanol fuel in the yard toys. I started using it for the mower and for the mix for my other equipment. That was five years ago. Great video. They were built like tanks, great machines. There was also a rear engine rider with similar build quality. Back in the days when Honda made great mowers. 🛠

    I inherited that same mower when I bought my house, I was told it doesn’t run. Two spark plugs and a starter relay later… it runs amazing, always starts and doesn’t smoke…. It’s from 1986!

    You're making me miss my HT3813 that I sold a few years ago. Had the full bagger setup on it. They leave such a great cut and are so quiet. Even at full throttle, you can have a conversation with someone walking next to you.

      thank you very much. I’m glad you noticed that because I spend many many hours and days editing videos. That’s why it takes me so long to put videos out. I might try and start cutting down on the editing so I can put videos out every other week or something like that but it’s also kind of hard working out of the small shop that I have. I have plans to build a bigger shop to help get more organized.

    Great job on the Honda lawn tractor. It is an impressive machine especially the liquid cooled engine. I guess they haven’t been made since the late1980’s, probably not competitive price wise with cheaper air cooled tractors. Good value in my mind, you get what you pay for, you really got a bargain at 0$!

    I bought a Honda 4213 brand new in 1987 to mow my 2 acre property. The Honda was a good machine but not great! I wore it out in about 12 years. I had my son mowing and he forgot to check the oil and we smoked the rod bearings. I replaced those bearings along with a couple of new rods. A couple of years later it was burning so much oil I had to have it bored out and I replaced the pistons. The linkages holding the mower deck have no bushings. Its just a rod thru a hole. The holes wore very oblong and the rods all wore out. I did drill out and add bushing to all the linkages. In 1999 I sold the Honda and bought a rebranded Scotts / John Deere Sabre from Home Depot . I could mow my yard in half the time it would take to mow with the Honda. That Scotts / John Deere lasted 24 years without one issue until the hydrostatic drive failed last August. So I can say a cheap John Deere was much better than an expensive overengineered Honda!

    • @MyChannel-d2e
      @MyChannel-d2e  2 месяца назад +4

      I actually agree with you, however the John Deere Sabre is more on par with the Honda 4514 which is hydrostatic and a better machine than the 3813. I love the older John Deere’s if you can tell by the beginning of this video
