I would particularly like to have a usd tutorial on multiple objects or scenes, including udim multiple limited materials, there are too few usd lookdevx tutorials, thank you
Within the same USD material compound, you can share an image texture between multiple standard surfaces (example: share the image between a few layered standard surface shaders). Currently you can't share contents between different USD material compounds, this will be achievable in the future through publishing and instancing shaders.
Thank you for this tutorial! Is it possible to make VariantSets of the Materials with the LookDevX? And is it possible to add them to the bifrost graph?
It is possible to add the materials to the Bifrost graph. In Bifrost USD, you can assign the materials created in LookdevX to the geometries. For the variants, currently you can't make VariantSets of the materials with LookdevX. In the future we'll have Presets that allow multiple materials within the same USD material compound.
@@Autodesk_Maya There seems to be no connection between Bifrost and LookDevX, how would you assign materials created in LookDevX via Bifrost? The only way I am able to do it is in the outliner, and then save the stage from the layers panel. If I assign the materials in the outliner and save the stage from Bifrost, all materials disappear, as if Bifrost and LookDevX are not talking to each other.
Thank you for the amazing tutorials. Also i am really curious that how you learn so many things so efficiently maam, i mean for me i feel like a heck of technical knowledge to gain😅.
After waiting for a few years, I learned a little bit and found that the advantages are not very obvious for individuals, and there are some minor problems

Hi Yingying! Great tute. I'm just wondering if it's currently possible to share the tiledImage1 texture you created at the end with another shader?

@@Autodesk_Maya yeah great, that's important fab

Finally Autodesk uploaded the video 😅
Question:How is the model subdivided? The USD model I converted was not smooth suface in render.😟
Completely off topic, but anyone getting a Red Alert 2 vibe from her calm voice?
Thank you for this tutorial! (though Maya 2024 crashes a lot with this usd shoe)...

How do we add subdivision to USD?

Great
