    Great lesson Dr.Proton! 😆 Seriously, this was a great lesson on battery science & how not to get ripped off. It just goes to show that dead is not always dead. Gotta get one of those analyzers.🤔

    Without even watching the full video, I can say that Sorin knows what he is talking about. I decided to replace a battery once on Dell E7440 for a customer. So called "New genuine 100% working battery" I got online turned out to be a fake copy, which did not even work. Charge level was always at 50 % and battery did not charge/discharge at all... Was lucky to get a refund.

    That battery analyzer is very cool. I'd like to see more videos with that Is there any other brands, or is that the only one?

    I had same issue with old model dell laptop, its happened about 10 years ago. Things was the same, battery was too discharged and unballanced, so Ive tryed to charge each cell to atleast 3V. But no luck battery locked itself as soon as I plugged it back to laptop.

    Dear Sorin , I've watched videos about unlocking battries , They shorted the main positive of batteries inside the bank with the positive terminal of bank's socket for few second then the battery unlocked.

    Great video as always. However this demonstrated that there is a need for this device. If all techs had access to one we could 'recycle' or 'rejuvenate ' batteries and save customers a fortune and prevent landfill. My issue with this device is the price and to add 'insult to injury' the annual license. I would have bought one but cannot bring myself to due to the subscription.

    • @MrHimer12
      @MrHimer12 Год назад

      I will make simple comparison. Let's say I had bought Milwaukee D handle impact wrench but last and strongest gear is locked behind annual license per year to use it. This battery tool is exactly the same, behind expensive paywall. Look I bought the tool so I want whole functionality, a carved tool is no use for me. I don't mind higher price for the tool with full functionality. Here I hereby inform all of you that I am happily sending each battery that is locked to the landfill and I remove electronics from them so no one else can use them.

    • @dimitristamatakis2431
      @dimitristamatakis2431 Год назад

      @@MrHimer12 totally agree, I understand the pricing model but do not agree with pay walls. Its a shame as I'm guessing more units would be sold which makes the pay wall pointless.

    Sorin, i clicking on wake up more times and and the voltage on the cells increases and they can be charged. Only clicking few times on wake up and watch as the voltage rises on cells. Then you can charge battery. I revived a lot of batteries using wake up several times in a row

    Thanks for the video..but I believe that the fuse melted programmatically..on the basis of the expiration of the life span, you had to fix the fuse before programming the battery and see if the fuse melted or not

    Battery analyser is a good tool bc you use it 4/2 in your videos means it is doing a greatjob ,not an obsole device to throw some side after some work with it ,new battery trick is that fuse ha ,to make it brick so they can buy new battery or better new laptop cause you cant find original ones from most brands nowadays ,what a bad thing to do to customer.

    Can't understand how this fuse works... you have placed a blob but on witch points/contacts???

    • @waynesallee-com
      @waynesallee-com Год назад

      I don't understand your question. The fuse has an internal heating element that when the firmware decides to self-destruct, it sends current through the heating element in the fuse, that melts the solder fuse, thus blowing the fuse.

  • @NicleT
    @NicleT Год назад

    Very good video!! Though I wonder if reusing the battery without fuse is a good idea? Also, I’ll be concern about the cause of the fuse blowup. Was it just overheating? Why?

    What is the resistance on these fuses? I'm measuring one on Asus battery, fuse marking is 12AJ4W and has 16 Ohms. Not sure if that is right? Cells are 3.6V, motherboard gives 0.250V on positive pin, so it's not charging currently. Funny thing, it was charging 16.5V prior to me manually charging cell by cell with 3.7V and 0.2A.

    Amazing video but i still cant see how we will repair battery without that thingy and software ? so we can just like try to charge cells with power supply and plug it back to pc ? but what if its locked and it refusing to continue charging. for example i have one battery on hp it was saying 100% charged when i unplugged charger it just straight turned off, and than on i put charger back when i press button to turn laptop on on post it was saying something battery is not good bla bla cant remember i think something like error 601 and press enter to continue, and when i entered windows battery was on 0% and not charging how to explain that? it confused me totally like it was working perfect on charger i put new windows installed everything restarted laptop few times no error messages only when i finished everything and waned to test how much battery is holding that happened. (also in whole that part of installing windows etc i didnt take power adapter out from it bcus i waned to finish everything with software and than last test battery. And now every time when i turn on laptop it say that error and you need to wait like 10 sec or to press enter to continue to windows. even i checked a bios and there was no option for warnings for battery only 1 thing was there to i can check to if laptop have problem with anything dont stop to continue (which many laptops have like ( stop on error messages or no there is few different options on different laptops ) also when i turned that on battery continued to show that error and not charge at all. Any suggestion without that special thingy how to get it back to life ? just to try charge cells separately ? even if they are connected together in serial mode or so? Thanks

    • @waynesallee-com
      @waynesallee-com Год назад

      Batteries are designed to self destruct. It has been said that sometimes batteries will even erase their own firmware. But the first thing to check, is if the battery gives voltage, and if not check the fuse. That is why I got tired of dealing with proprietary batteries, and built my own laptop with a battery system that is easy to change the batteries on.

    Very informative video, although caution should be done when working with Li-Po batteries! I have now had 3 Asus batteries report 0V output after a dead laptop (shorted mosfet, EC etc.). I guess these are locked for safety, as the laptop will not charge or detect them. Is it possible to unlock these without special hardware?

      There is an IC on the battery board that may have blown. Have to tear off the outer wrap to expose it. Watch the heat around batteries when you remove it.

      Yes. Swollen lithium batteries are beyond repair. They've out gassed the part that transfers charge from the plates. You can find new cells and replace them.

    When you say heated fuse, do you mean a thermal fuse that’s blows when it detects to much heat?

    • @waynesallee-com
      @waynesallee-com Год назад

      No it's a fuse made of solder with a heating element under the solder. When the firmware decides to sabotage itself, it sends current through the heating element inside the fuse. That heating element melts the solder fuse, thus blowing the fuse.

    • @Kit-lb6tr
      @Kit-lb6tr Год назад

      more than likely you would need to replace the 18650s and then restart the bms. there are jank ways to do it once everything is connected you can bridge the p+ line to the positive output and it'll start the bms. however it wont reset it and do all the neat things this program can do. But, you usually can salvage old batteries this way.
