In this week's tutorial, we're creating a vase filled with spring flowers, all directly in Procreate! We start by utilizing the symmetry tools in Procreate to create a perfect vase, then apply a frosted glass effect by utilizing layer masking and a default Procreate brush. From there, we created 3 different simple flower styles with a dimensional buttercup being the most complex. Finally, we finish it all off by adding some lettering at the base of our design. Grab the free color palette and monoweight brush to get started!
I use the Paperlike screen protector on my 3rd gen iPad Pro (12.9", 256GB). More info here: paperlike.com/everytuesday

Out of all the procreate tutorials online, I learn the most from yours. You're so organized which makes the lesson organized in my mind too. For the first time yesterday I watched your other video, and went and drew my art without going back to the video again because everything was organized in my brain. I only went back to check what brush you used for the charcoal texture. Thank you so much! Please keep teaching more!
I never knew why we drag the layers underneath the layer below now it makes so much sense! Thank you😊
Thanks for the help kind Teela lovely hues! ✨💕😊
Oh la la that is so cool ! really amazing, thank you so much Teela for your incredible efficient support. I am a poor designer and thanks to your precise steps I am now able to reproduce those beautiful flowers. I also understand better the functions Procreate offers and how to use the masks. I am really happy with your tutorials, thanks a lot once again !
I took your free class Procreate for beginners. I found it very informative and I learned some new things, so when I drew this I used some of your other tips to create my own effects. Thanks for the tutorials. I love learning new things. Still a beginner, but learning.
You make it look so easy. I do appreciate the talent that you share. 💕
Wow, your videos are so awesome...beautiful, instructive, and relaxing! I can't wait to get my iPad Pro, pencil and procreate!
Thank you so much for these!
Omg can't wait to try this!
That is delightful Teela, thank you .
Hey, thanks for sharing your knowledge sweetie🤗. Love your tutorials. You make it so easy. 👍🏻
WOW! beautiful!!
Thank you for making this tutorial. I wanted to create something similar. I never thought that I could draw such beautiful flowers and so easy to make. You have really busted my confidence on drawing.
Very nice tutorial. I will definitely give them a try on my new iPad. Very excited!
Beautiful and tender 🌼🌼🌼
Loved this tutorial, mine turned out awesome! Can’t wait to follow along with your other videos, it’s keeping me sane in quarantine, thank you!
Thanks for watching!
I’ve been wondering about how to draw glass vases, thank you for sharing an easy method
Thanks for checking it out!
Thanks Teela
You're a great teacher
Sad people have disliked this. I have been a subscriber for a long time since learning calligraphy from all the lovely hand lettering community on RUclips. I have had Procreate and an Apple Pencil for almost 2 years and done absolutely nothing !. Really enjoying your lovely tutorials and have learned so much in the last week watching them and we really appreciate what you are teaching us.
Thanks for watching! 💕
Great tutorial.
This is so far my favorite procreate painting. It is stunning. I'm so happy how it turned out. Thank you!
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching!
@@EveryTuesday I’m totally hooked on your tutorials. Now I’m working on the Shiny Fall Vase, Another stunner!
Good artwork !😁😁😁讲解详细,步骤清晰,很棒!👍👍👍
I've been fretting about how to paint and found this treasure trove on RUclips. Thank you for your patient instruction. I have a puzzle about how I can download brushes even though I'm already a subscriber to Every-Tuesday.
Thank you, I love your video and learn how to draw via the video. You are the one of best RUclips .
Thanks so much!
Thank you.
Your videos had been very instrumental learning procreates features!
I'm so glad they've been helpful!
Thanks
Look forward to drawing this! ( taking care of my hubby atm, who broke his arm and needs surgery Thursday!) Loved the animation on Livestream! Was a lot of fun and very educational, I re-did the steps and created a crazy, colorful version later. Stay Well Teela and family!
Eek! So sorry to hear that! What a time for that to happen - please, both of you stay safe!
@@EveryTuesday thanks so much!🙏🌷
Between each buttercup flower did you make a new layer? Also, amazing tutorial!! Thank you!
Thanks Teela! Mine turned out great. Very easy to follow.
Thanks for watching!
👏I enjoyed watching your cool video.
Have a good day. my friend♡like♥
This was fun! Love learning from Teela Cunningham! Outstanding Educator! Thank you!
💕
Thank you it was really fun although it took me about an hour to finish 😂my skills in drawing is very poor but with tutorials like these I can learn
It always take the longest when you're just starting. Once you get a little practice in, though, things start going faster and faster!
This could be an ikebana floral arrangement.
does anyone have a recommendation for a brush that would work like this only look like clear plastic packaging/ glass? Thanks!
Hi, this may have came late. I’ve just found the video!
I used Tinderbox from inking
It turned out very beautiful and so similar.
after drawing the vase, when using the charcoal pencil what colour are you using is it Black?
Use black. In Disc view of your colors double tap on the black to get a pure black, then use the charcoal pencil ;)
Hey Teela, thanks for the fun tutorial! I'm just getting started, but every time I try to drag the white color to change the vase to white, it's turning the whole canvas that color. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Somewhat new to Procreate...
Zoom in and check that the outline of your vase has no gaps in it.
For anyone else having this problem, I figured it out! ruclips.net/video/aupEAhHdV-s/видео.html
Thanks for these great tutorials! One question, when I tried to merge the layers together, the vase and the water layer turned almost transparent. After merging those two, the combined layer also turned to "multiply" mode, but I tried other options but it just doesn't look as exactly as it looked when the layers were separated. Exporting the file wouldn't cause this distortion though. So what did I do wrong when merging the layers? THANKS a lot!
You don't want to merge any of your layers - you'll want to group them to keep things organized, but your layers will always remain separate 👍
@@EveryTuesday ah alright, I made a copy of it and just wanted to test the merging result. But it didn't work out T.T
I can't throw the White color into the jar, what am I doing wrong 😬
I can't seem to turn off the symmetry drawing assist. I've untoggled it in symmetry option, also turned off drawing guide. I closed and reopened the app but still can't turn it off. Help!
Tina Li make sure you go to a new layer.
Every time I try to install the color palette, Procreate crashes. It’s updated to the latest version but still doesn’t allow me. I’ve installed other color palettes just fine, but this one and one other just crashed the app. Can anyone help?
Riley Marie Houde I had issues with some of the palettes too. This one didn’t load through safari so I tried through Chrome and it worked.
When I try to fill the vase with color, the color is filling my entire canvas for some reason and not just the shape I want filled in. Any suggestions on how to fix it? I've followed a few tutorials with you and never had that happen before!
@Mackenzie F im having the same problem, and mine is completely full. :/
@@msmeryllia my pencil was low on power and it was being buggy. Try recharging it if nothing else is working.
Hi Great tutorial. I was able to follow 99 % of the steps. I had trouble with the shading of the vase at the beginning. When I hit layer mask was I supposed to shade with 2b charcoal with what colour ? The same as the vase and also was I supposed to be using paint brush here or erase with charcoal. That’s the only part I got stuck on. Otherwise great!! (And I know I got stuck because Of me. Not you. Lol needing some clarity on that step please! ☺️
In case Teela doesn't see your question, I'll chime in :-) You need to use true black to shade on the layer mask with the 2B charcoal. If you're not familiar with masking, this may seem counterintuitive but it works! If you mistakenly end up with with too much shading, switch the color to true white and keep shading to restore the vase. I think Teela has a video on layer masks, or there are also others on RUclips.
Hey! You'll want to use black when you're painting on a layer mask (black conceals, white reveals). Check out this video on masking for more info! ruclips.net/video/t5aY4KftxTA/видео.html
Thank you! That totally helps!! ☺️
Do you use a screen protector on your iPad?
I do! More details here: paperlike.com/everytuesday
This is a great tutorial but for some reason when I try to use the charcoal brush to create the “clear vase” look nothing happens. Also when I try to add the water and then rearrange layers I can’t see the water anymore .... not sure what I’m doing wrong???
same here :(
Make sure you're using a layer mask and painting in black on the layer mask with the charcoal brush 👍
Ok got it thanx! I had to watch your layer mask video.
I can't seem to get the color palette to download it says Sorry.....404 error page and that the page doesn't exist.🤷😢
Hey! Copy and paste that url into Chrome and you'll see it at the bottom of your screen 👍
When i try to fill the vase, it fills the background instead of the vase. How to fill the vase color?
You need to make sure you don't have any gaps in the outline of your vase - the color will spill out of that gap and fill your background if the outline isn't fully closed 👍
Hi Teela.... 💕💕💕 your videos. I’m trying to download the color palette but it’s not showing on my Procreate. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.
Also not able to download the palette, all apps up to date
If Procreate is updated to the latest version, copy and paste the link into the chrome browser (you'll see it appear at the very bottom of your screen after you do that), then you can easily send it to Procreate 👍
I just tried that and it gets me to a page on your website that says Sorry....404 Error Page. Sorry but the page you are looking for doesn't exist.
@@suzenreynolds Hmm. Working ok for me. This is the link you want: every-tuesday.com/vase-spring-color
yeah i cant for the life of me get the palette to transfer driving me crazy i have tried everything
The shadow leyer doesnt work for me at all it doesnt show up when i place it above water, learning procrate is kind of frustrating does anyone have the same problem? It looks like i have a leyer of background on top of the leyers with vase and water
She didn't select black as the color for the layer mask. If you do that, you will get the effect she does. I think she made a little boo-boo there. :-)
Hey! It sounds like you didn't change the shadow to a multiply blend mode. After you do that, you'll see it (timestamp 4:19)
I think Ola was referring to the shadow beneath the vase that needed a multiply blend mode (no masks for that) 👍
@@EveryTuesday Yes, I think you're right. I was projecting what I had trouble with for a minute. :-)
Black should be the default color that turns on when you apply a layer mask (which is why I didn't mention it) - could it have been changed by accident?
Nice, but why is it so pixelated?
Since it's a pixel based program, whenever you're zoomed in super tight, things will always look pixelated. What matters most is how it looks when viewed at 100% of what its intended size is meant to be to see if there are any issues then 👍
