Thank you for this helpful video! You might not monitor this old post anymore but in case you do: I’m really curious about how you find your models and how much to pay them. I need to do a shoot like that and I just don’t know how to go about it moneywise.
Hey! Sorry, I just saw this! Finding models is something I usually do via modelling agencies or my network across social media. In terms of pay, I’ve worked with models that charge vastly different rates: expect anything from £350 to £2,500 depending on the model and their agency. I hope that helps!

@@SophiaCarey I thought so! My drive/traffic jam dwelling on the way into work doubles as location scouting 😆 There's such a range of really cool locations around Manchester for pretty much any photography style you could want
Gareth Jones haha that’s a great way to location scout! Two birds, one stone! And yes there definitely are. Manchester is a great place for a breadth of locations that are in close proximity to each other!
@@SophiaCarey Every cloud & all that ha! I've mostly shot in the NQ or near Picadilly train station, I need to shoot around Manc again soon, I shoot street photography mainly, never had the opportunity to do a model type shoot but your vids make me really want to!
You should definitely try it out sometime! I love street photography, but portraiture definitely adds another dynamic to the job!

How do you decide if you need flash or not?
Hey! It depends on the lighting. When I’m outdoors I don’t use flash unless it’s really dark and there’s no ambient lighting to use.

If only you included camera settings...
They would have been different settings per photo because of the different lighting etc. I’d recommend learning to shoot manual if you haven’t already, as this will help you know which settings to use for different shots
@@SophiaCarey i appreciate the explanation. Would you mind telling me why didn't you use an 85mm lens for this specific photoshoot?
@@arianjamali6183 for this particular shoot, an 85mm would have been too close a crop. I needed a lens (the 35 is what I used) that would suit full body shots and shots with both models in
