Way better than the fire trucks community tool bag! You having control so things don't go missing👍👍
Absolutely them bags are terrible after using them for 10 years I finally decided to invest in my own Veto and outfit it with the tools I like. So far it’s been a major success.
Your not wrong it's why alot of us get our own tools and don't let companies buy/keep them. I know firefighters tend to take of there things kinda required. I would think tools getting misused all the time would break and then people say now you get cheap tools which break faster. It's a endless cycle. In general community tools leads to a lack of respect for them.
@@MattHmm-rq6dn when trucks go into service they get outfitted a 36” tool box full of tools that are assigned to the specific unit but as time goes on like you said community tools start to go missing or broken some get replaced some don’t. That’s the reason for me to carry my own. Most firefighters carry some sort of their own personal tool pouch in their gear. I just like the Veto and it has worked great so far. But like most bags it’s a work in progress constantly adding and removing.
Good stuff 👍 I like the MAKITA sockets as well even over the klein or milwaukee flip sockets smaller and less hassle to use. The yellow handled vessel is a chisel driver actually lol like sharpened wood chisel for anyone watching. It's not terrible for adjusting door hardware a decent multi use screwdriver. I'm surprised to not see a pannel key for a firefighter knipex makes a good folding one or snowflake style works. If your in a comerical building and you need to get into a pannels to shut it off its important (works on some elevator stuff too). Thies small pockets are tight and useful for adding clip on pouches like the veto mpx-2x holstery clips ripnot clips basically making another attachment point. I too have dumped thr use of a cats paw besides framing because there's so many more options already in the bag. Don't do the channelock adjustable wrench go milwauke (4knurls and tighter than any pre 1970s made adjustable) or bahco for slimmer jaws great quality. I personally carry 2 bahcos there just as wide as channelock or any other wide jaw model and the slim jaws really are useful even better than lobster or fujia nepros ect. The milwaukee adjustable comes in 8in wide jaw and it locks up tight no backing off (available at local hds to try in person and buy). The only other adjustable to lock on harder was some 1900s diamond roadroad adjustables (yes over 100 years old) which they don't make them anymore or close to the same quality. Have you considered getting a nice starret mitatoya fowler good quality automatic center punch for popping windows and safety glass? Thoes machinist brands made a punch that will put a dent in the hardest steel. The one I carry actually almost went though 1/4in plexiglass not just a dent created weak spots to break it. I despise thoes milwaukee water pump pliers they bite like a pair of dentures. I'm sure yoy have something better laying around even Doyle hf are better. I don't much care for thoes non us milwaukee hand tools very tepid to say the least. The people I work with had a graveyard of thoes wire strippers for a while the pivot point would shift and bind. At one time there was 12 pair in a box and we said enough got knipex forged wire strippers never looked back. If your cutting battery cables maybe step up to a insulated pair? Knipex step cuts or the wiha makes insulated as well. Your safety matters as you know there is alot of amps in thoes lines. Some thoughts and what a good medium bag for the firetruck good job.
Thank you very much I am
Doing a bunch of of research right now looking into all the stuff you recommended I have a Balco adjustable wrench. I love them this is probably my fourth string bag for on the fire truck but I will look into your upgraded. Definitely going to to get insulated cutters for the batteries …… I agree with the Milwaukee tools they are terrible
I use knipex insualted step cut for thick stuff don't be scared on the 6in size they cut way above there size plenty of reviews cutting thick cable. Knipex has a twin blade version too that's more versatile for some options. If I come across the wiha set I'll give it a shot. They use the same principle cutting. Thanks for keeping people safe!
@@MattHmm-rq6dn give the wihas a try I love them. I have the Knipex step cuts on my wishlist on Amazon I just need to pull the trigger……. I like the starrett punches I might add one to my list. I never considered it our trucks have the Glas-masters removal tool and each one has a center punch inside so I never though I needed it but I might try it.
Fowler 52 500 290 0 hits 90٪ as hard as the starret 18c there strongest one but is 22 dollars vs 60plus for the made in usa starret. Since you use it in a limited capacity it would probably fit your needs for 1/3the price. Thr step cuts fluctuate in price it's high now. My order history shows I paid 23 for the standard handled and 28 for the insulated. But with inflation who knows if they will go down agian.
@@MattHmm-rq6dn I think they are at $43 right now for insulated. I have them in my list I will keep an eye out.
Psst, psst. Joey, sent me. 🛠️
Welcome
FLUSH CUTS ARE ESSENTIAL!!!!
Absolutely
Love the bag! Thoughts on adding a short strap that clips on both sides as a shoulder strap if needed? Also, I keep a mini ratchet with a 10mm as it fits “most” battery terminals. Keep it going fella, learned a lot. Love the keys too
Thank you…….. I appreciate the idea with the strap. I had the one on there when I first got the bag but I didn’t use it more of a nuisance instead of anything else. I like the mini ratchet with 10mm definitely doing that one. Thank you for the ideas.
If it helps I need to get into doors alot lockouts ect. I use thoes stainless steel pry bars they sell at auto parts or az ares or titan. They are cheaply made so there kinda sharp and stiff. They dig into door catches even comerical ones and you can wiggle the catch latch open. Most doors are not installed well and even if it has thay front faceplate with garage bolts get a longer one and get it from the top. They don't mar up trim or doors since there slick polished stainless. Ssshhh don't let people know I can get into most doors without damage. I had a storage facility have me open every door after a crackhead stole all keys out of the office. That was a clean couple thousand dollars that day with a few pry bars. There are so many poorly installed doors out there!
I agree with that most doors are installed bad ……… we try and not damage doors but if we do there is good reason for it
Just subscribed.
Thank you welcome……. Feel free to comment or ask any questions I will try my best to answer …….
Maintenance of what 😂
Exactly ………. I appreciate the comment……
Makita sockets, not milwaukee
Way too many bits, just like the rest of us who watch Morgan's Maintenance 😂😂😂
Yeah probably could remove about 75% of the bits but maybe one day I can use them
There's always redundancy with bits we just do our best not to have 10 sets.
@@MattHmm-rq6dn it’s better to have and not use than not have and need
@@Tooling_with_Newman By all means, a complete set; it looked like you had at least two complete and maybe 4 partial sets scattered about!
@@OnusBones that’s right
