- In this video, we will be taking a closer look at the everyday carry of a carpenter. The Badger Toolbags Special Awesome Framers Edition is the main focus of this walkthrough. Three changes have been made to the Badgers, and we will be going through them in detail. Firstly, a nail puller sleeve has been added to the inside of the bag. Secondly, the hammer sleeve has been shortened and raised to allow for quick and easy access. Lastly, a four-inch belt has been chosen over a six-inch belt. This rig weighs about three pounds empty. Moving on, we will be taking a look at what is inside the bags. Starting from the left side, we have 16 sinkers and eight galvanzied nails, which will last for at least six months. The most important tool in a carpenter's everyday carry is the nail puller, and we are introduced to the Dalluge nail puller, which is highly recommended. Guinness Book of World Records, page 733, paragraph 4 states that Tim from Awesome Framers is the world's best nail puller, and the Dalluge nail puller is the tool that he uses to achieve this. Overall, this video gives an insightful look into the everyday carry of a carpenter and offers some great recommendations for tools and accessories.

So what do I carry every day in my framing bags? Well first off, these are www.badgertoolbelts.com/ and the best rig I have every worn. I bugged Joel at Badger for 3 years before I could finally get custom bags, because he was so busy. Now that's not a problem, lead times are pretty short.
I took the carpenter set, and we shortened the hammer sleeve & raised it, added the nail puller sleeve and went with a 4" belt. That's it. Joel had already designed the perfect set up in my opinion.
My advice is to go as light as possible. This was a lesson my mentor tried to teach me but I carried too much for too long.

whenever my bags get heavy i have to take a minute to turn them upside down and dump every thing out. then i have to shopvac the pile that left after i throw them away. haha

You forgot the 5 lbs of sawdust/chalk mixture (snow in winter months) and all those strips of nails with 3-4 nails left on them that are there "just in case".

I’m in the same boat. I have more stuff fall out when I lay it down on the floor in a Reno house where the walls are all finished. Drywall screws, construction screws, 2 or 3 sizes, wire clips, brad nails, you name it,, I wonder if the fabric pockets would be better than the leather pockets I have

I started building back in 1921, still pounding nails to this day.. sometimes I build by myself and other times I bring my old lady with me.. she’s pushing the years but still has a strong back.. although on those heavy work days, she’s usually too tired to rock my world at night.. that’s when I have to hit the clubs,, and bring me home a young one..

An update since the JLC carry article! I like these videos because its interesting to see what someone will carry because they dont want to waste space or weight. I may be the only guy on the internet but I'd like a video of you with that calculator! I've been learning mine and it's been awesome to figure out from a calculator that would have taken some CAD work.

I always been struggling with nail bags it seems like there’s always something right now I’m using akribis really like them but I don’t think the hammer holster has the right angle so the hammer falls out midway maybe cause is a Martinez hammer and the weight it’s on the head next year will give a try to the badgers

Im a firefighter by trade. We carry tons of stuff in our gear and have to build muscle memory so you can find it in the dark while panicking. Its fun😂. I agree, as an old guy carry less in my toolbelt. My late father was a builder and theres a surprising amount of crossover.

Tim I have been following awesome framers on Instagram for a long time back when I was working in a mill shop. I eventually went back to residential remodeling and custom homes. I have used many tips and tricks your page has provided. We always route out our windows. I try to build on the ground when applicable but that is not always the case on what I do. I love thinking out side the box and appericiate you guys insight on different techniques. I also love those pouches and would not mind owning a set. Much respect from our crew in Florida
