Ugh they have yet to excite me again. I like embroidery but their machine are getting out of reach on pricing for most of us.
Same. If I had money I’d have a Roland!
Me too
@@CassieMakesArt Brother makes a few.
As for Design Space software, they have added some great features. What I don’t like is that for most of them you have to subscribe to Cricut Access. That’s not what the software was supposed to be about. Anyone else agree??
I agree. There are so many subscriptions that you just can’t afford all of them. I have Cricut, Photoshop and AI and the whole group, midjourney, Siser software for the Romeo, creative Fabrica…so worth it! Canva is being brought out and showed. It’s not bad. I think U have one more but can’t remember! Trying to decide what direction I am going. I don’t need one more machine. I saw a video about some woman had patented so merging with embroidery, (don’t quote me) and is charging or demanding videos get taken down.
I use Adobe illustrator so I don’t need their additional features one has to subscribe to. There are other cheaper vector programs than Adobe people can use as well such as affinity designer.
agreed. i get paying for pics/fonts even templets, but pay walling features is getting kinda old
@@JanineMKartist I need the others so it is worth it, Inkscape is good option too
Embroidery is NOT easy and I agree that you need some sewing skills in order to do it successfully. It does take quite a few accessories and a good knowledge of thread, backing, fabric, etc. PLUS, you need a good amount of time to 'plan' the design on your item so you can execute it successfully. Lots of things can go wrong that a 'bot' won't be able to fix for you. It will be interesting to see what they come up with and market.
If it is just another single needle machine i think they are wasting their time. They should have created a multi needle with a free arm. Brother created sketch and was on the right track but they didn’t go far enough. A flat bed embroidery machine is so limiting on embroidering TShirts or store made items. I didn’t hear anything that is already available on the market. I am still unsure what the patent is for. Will see. I don’t share your excitement. Maybe because i have had high end embroidery machines for years Maybe i am missing something. I will read the patent because i am curious on what part they were able to receive a new patent. Im always looking for the next big thing
I agree with you. Just purchased a Brother Stellaire XE2. Love brother products. The starting price of this machine maybe $2500 or higher.
I’ve been embroidering for 30 years and the features they are toting aren’t new. My Babylocks already have these features. Personally, I think Cricut needs to concentrate on what they already have out and get all the kinks out before going in a whole new direction. I’m not impressed. JMO. 😊
I agree. Cricut is going back to the old days and their old ways. Putting out merchandise and products prior to making sure what they already have is operational.
Totally agree. Machine embroidery is a whole different genre of crafting. It takes time and patience. I have a 15 needle and a Husqvarna Viking Epic; have upgraded my Vikings throughout the years. I've been embroidering since the '70s and still get frustrated at times with types of fabrics, stabilizers, etc. Hands-on teaching and support from dealer is cruicial. Cricut needs to concentrate on what they already have and improve Design Space.
I'll chime in on Team Brother! I don't really see anything in the Cricut plan that Brother isn't doing, and I LOVE my two Brother Innovis embroidery machines. They are very versatile, easy to use with their touch screens, and can also sew beautifully. I can also say that they are workhorses. The first one I bought can only do up to a 5x7 hoop, so of course I had to get a bigger machine. That first machine is now used primarily for sewing, and I do a LOT of tough sewing, making custom dog collars, martingale leads, and sporting leads of heavy halter-weight nylon webbing. It does it all, including spandex for racing blankets, fleece for belly-bands, and human garments from heavy denim to delicate lace. Give me a classic Tanner Bell LOVE LOVE LOVE! When I need to upgrade for more time-efficient embroidery, it will be to a multi-needle machine, not another single one, but I will always still love my Brother machines.
Do you think they’re going to make it subscription based like the brother Skitch? Cause that’s going to be my guess.
Cricut's updates have been fantastic! My Cricut has never cut so perfectly! I'm now making popups and cutting extremely detailed paper cuts! I've been very happy with where they are and can't wait to see what else is to come!
If Cricut can do for embroidery what they've done for die cut machines by making them affordable and easy to get started this will be a blast!!!
What??!! Embroidery machine? I am stunned. I figured it would be a laser. I have a 15 needle Embroidery machine and I love it. But it is not for the faint of heart. There is a LOT of finesse due to fabric being embroidered, size and detail of design being embroidered, hooping, etc
It is a lot. I am BEYOND intrigued. I will be watching. Thanks so much for sharing!
An embroidery machine sounds interesting. But, unless they come out with a machine that does things others don’t, not sure it will take off.
Can’t they get design space more user friendly first?
And I’m sure it will cost a thousand dollars for an embroidery machine. Out of my price range I’m sure
I think it will cost much mire than $1000!!
Is that all lol. 😮 Half of my monthly income
I have three different Husqvarna/Viking embroidery machines that already have these features, so I probably won't be getting this machine. I do wonder about their long-time support for other machines that aren't Cricut cutters. I have been purchasing from them since they were Provocraft. I have a screen printer, book binder, and cuttlebug machine that they stopped supporting, and I loved using them.
I am hoping that my venture has more vinyl colors and styles available soon and doesn't become part of the Cricuit Island of lost toys with the expansion into embroidery and laser cutting.
Embroidery is completely different than paper crafting. Paper crafting you goof up you can put in another piece of paper. If you screw up embroidery or machine screws up you are out the shirt or what ever you are using. They need to fix design space first.
WHY DONT THEY JUST FOCUS ON THE ONES THEY HAVE NOW😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢.
MAKE UPGRADES ON MAKER STUFF SPEND SO MUCH MONEY ON IT 😢😢😢😢
STUPID 😢😢😢😢😢
It depends on the price point. Plus they can be so proprietary making it difficult. Will it use universal hoops?
I would prefer an over haul of DS. They need to fix it...
Brother already has an amazing auto thread. Not sure how cricut can improve.
This is great but what about enhancing what they currently have. Design space needs work. I won’t buy another Cricut until they correct the current issues on design space.
Same here
I have had embroidery machines since 1998, unless they are making a bobbin that never runs out the market is saturated especially for single needle machines all major sewing machine brands have them. So you can put me in the not excited column
Embroidery is not easy to use if you don't have a user friendly machine. I have a baby lock embroidery machine and I can say I opened the box and started embroidering.
Tanner, I've had a Brother embroiidery 6 needle machine since 2006. You can make a lot of money with embroidery. I worked at a hospital and everyone liked their clothing (scrubs, lab coats) embroidered with their name and department on them. I've nade fun Tshirts with it as well then bookmarks, pilow cases with initials, towels and initials and much more. I would love to do some embroifery with the new cricut machine!!! I've not used a Cricut but find it interesting so see how this machine is different from the other machines. They are going against Toyota, Brother etc.
I wish they would improve their Design Space software and the mobile apps. Even though I do have a laptop, I do a lot on my iPhone and iPad. I got the Joy Xtra and just received the foil tip kit and was kinda disappointed that I could only use it with my laptop.
This is interesting on soooo many levels. I just found (probably old news to many) that there is software to turn your SVG files into embroider files with just a few clicks. I've been doing machine embroidery since the late 70's on commercial embroidery machines. When machine embroidery hit the home market, I jumped on the band wagon very early. I can see the melding of Cricut being able to cut fabric and convert SVGs to embroidery files a smooth transition. Just look at what Brother is now doing with their Scan n' Cut along with their Artspira digital interfaces over the past few years. The sky could be the limit here, but the price point Cricut chooses to compete in will determine it's overall success. Can't wait to see the new embroidery machine.
I have 2 singer embroidery machines and 5 assorted sewing machines, Singer . I have not had issues with thread breaks. Very expensive hobby. Stabilizers, threads, bobbin fill, needles, floating fabrics. Mine has thread cutter, large hoops, great lighting. You need a sturdy desk because of vibration.
I have no interest in an embroidery machine. If I were going to get an embroidery machine, it would be connected to my sewing machine...I just can't keep adding machines, no space for them. I already occupy my office (180 sf), garage space (100 sf), a She Shed (100 sf), not to mention the dining room table on occasion and I can't keep adding machines, equipment, etc. not to mention all of the supplies. I am holding some space for a laser machine, but that's it.
I hope they will have more support for these machines than they have for their vinyl cutters....
I have a Brother sewing machine that has an embroidery platform. It's very easy to use and the thread breakage thing is almost 100% dependant on the quality of thread you use (aka don't use Walmart or Joann thread). I find it interesting that they would do this when they barely mention the fabric cutting capability of the Maker anymore and don't seem to really support that any longer and it was literally the coolest thing that machine does.
I just hope this does not mean they will drop ball again on DS, or do anything to cause more problems. I do not see myself jumping on this product at all. Thank you Tanner for videos to keep us updated.
Does this mean they are NOT coming out with a laser machine?
That's what i was hoping for! I have a great sewing/embroidery machine i love already. A laser cutter that doesn't take up a huge amount of space and doesn't need venting through my wall or window would get me very excited
I have two embroidery machines. I LOVE Cricut, but I'll stick with Brother and Janome for my embroidery needs. I'm wondering what hoop sizes they are offering. Anything below a 6x10 would be a waste of time.
Not at all interested in another embroidery machine.
Interesting. I’ve been thinking of getting a small embroidery machine to make nicer business logos on shirts and finish up some of my current projects nicer with embroidery edges. If the embroidery machine software would integrate well with Design Space projects that would be great 👍
I wish they had move on to more Cricut advanced features. The engraving is still Meh, the foiling is meh, filling in type when drawing is still not available, ugh! How about laser technology? That would be good news. Embroidery is ok, but they need to make what they already have BETTER.
I have two high end embroidery machines that I bought from a sewing machine dealer that will service it. I think Cricut should stick with Cricut and improve it. Not sure Cricut would service Embroidery machines properly
Its exciting, but I'm worried about the price. Their stuff is always so aesthetically pleasing that i want it but then slap a price point on it that would require a small loan.
Id love to get into embroidery and have been eyeballing a multineedle machine so I guess we'll see. Thank you Tanner!
They recently updated their patent for a Laser Cutter last month, I wonder if they will ever release it.
I have a Brother embroidery machine. I love to embroider. I have 2 Cricut makers. Love them too!! I’m dabbling all over different crafts. I would love to see the difference in the sewing techniques of a Cricut embroidery machine. If it really does all they say they want it to do, it will be a game changer!
I think I will stick with my Brother, and Baby Lock.
If you could cut the fabric in design space with your cricket then take the fabric that you cut out and iron onto another fabric then embroider the edges of the original fabric it would be a super game changer. Imagine the animal quilts and the stained glass type quilts we can make. So awesome!
I have two high end embroidery machines and it's a HUGE learning curve. Also, you need a LOT of accessories and know how for embroidering on fabric. Machine embroidery is NOT for those who have NO sewing skills.
I learn how to embroidery first, before I sew.
You can learn to machine embroider without extensive sewing experience, Brother has entry level machines for just such folks. Stop being a snob.
I don't really sew at all, but I have a multi needle machine and embroider tons of different things. That being said, there is a HUGE learning curve, and serious $$$ investment in materials, hoops etc. It will be interesting to see what cricut tries to do with this, but before I bought my machine, even being a total noob, I already knew I wanted more than just a single needle.
Sorry, no. Big waste of time in the 21st Century.
As always a great video Tanner! Thanks for the shout out. I am excited to hear what your audience thinks of this and who would want to buy it!
You're welcome!
I am an embroiderer and I have a Janome, brother, and my latest is a baby lock. I bought each one because I have grown and each machine came with major upgrades as I learned more and more. Not sure Cricut's machine will be nicer than my current Baby Lock. It did sound like they just used a lot of fancy catch words there, but being a crafter and due to my curiosity, lol, I am going to check out KensKreations and see if I am correct on that. Love your videos Tanner!
I am going to check out his thoughts because I am nosy! I doubt that I would buy a Cricut over a Brother/Baby Lock.
@@kristensmith7179ditto. Love my multi needle brother.
Sounds interesting. Want to see what it’s capable of doing. Personally, I’ve never had any issues with Design Space. I’m still wondering when they’re coming out with the laser machine because they definitely have a patent out there for it as Ken told us about it last year.
Ok I own a "Brother DreamMaker" single needle Embroidery Machine and I own the "Ricoma EM-1010" 10 needle Embroidery Machine. Although Cricut makes good cutting machines, I don't think that they will have it at an affordable price for people who are just trying to start out. And honestly I'm not quite sure that their machines will stand up to the Name Brands like "Brother, Baby Lock, Janome ...." And Honestly I'm getting tired of Design space .... All the new updates they are doing require you to be an access member. And so I'm sure once they get their embroidery machine out they will have more updates on their site and they will require you to have an access account if you want to do certain things with Their Embroidery Machine. But thanks for the Video, I'm just getting burned out with Design Space and all the requirements they want you to do !!! Just my thoughts !!!
I have all Janome machines and love my Janome embroidery machine. Best I can tell, I don't hear any new or innovations they will be bringing to the embroidery table.
I was thinking the same thing.
@jackie-dbdstitchart4969 Sadly I'm thinking the same.
I’ve been embroidering for many years I have a 6 needle free arm and two flat bed Brother embroidery machines. More people are using the Brother Scan N Cut (which I also have) to cut fabric and quilt with appliqué and then stitch the applique on the embroidery machine. If Cricut can sell an embroidery machine cheeper with wifi and a bigger hoop size than just 4x4 and 5x7 even 6x10 they will be competitive. And I will be interested for sure. I would love to have a nice embroidery machine like Brother Luminair or Stelliar that doesn’t cost as much as a used car, its ridicules.
I have Brother machines. I started embroidery 17 years ago and love it. I now have a 1055x 10 needle machine that works with my ScanNCut. It works together for applique. I wonder what embroidery files they will have. Mine uses PES. If you get into digitizing, will you be offering different file options? I have a digitizing program but haven't had time to do much.
I have been a Cricut fan since Cricut began with an infomercial and have purchased every machine they have developed until the Venture, and the only reason I didn’t purchase it, I felt I didn’t need that size of machine with already owning a laser. All this to state, I’m with Cricut for the long haul. Even though I already own embroidery machines, I can’t wait to see what they can develop. Go Cricut! I know where Cricut began and love where they have gone. Has there been a snag here and there? Yes, but they address them and keep improving. There isn’t a company (Microsoft, Apple, Singer, Brother, etc) that hasn’t hit bumps in the road as they continue to develop and stay relevant in the marketplace. You can’t quit moving forward and stay in one place. Cricut is a business and needs to constantly appeal to many while growing new customers. I love my machines and will excitedly await the new creations as they come, but this is just my opinion and we are all entitled to our own thoughts. Thank you Tanner and Ken for sharing.
It would be interesting to see what file extensions they use. I have a Janome and a Bernina. Poor Bernina collecting dust since I got my Janome. Curious on pricing. But as of now, it sounds similar to what I have now. Now is DS is interchangeable with embroidering, that would be exciting. I would love to design my own embroidery designs without breaking the bank for a program to do so.
I have been embroidering since the '70s. I have a 15 needle and have upgraded my Husqvarna Viking throughout the years the Epic being my last purchase. I also have a Brother Scan n Cut along with my cricuts. This is a hole new genre of crafting and can be very challenging, I still have issues at times. I'm interested to see where this goes. Personnally, Cricut needs to concentrate on DS.
THE PRICE IS WHAT IM CURIOUS ABOUT
Ok I don’t get the whole doing a video in the car? Maybe that’s just me. I have 4 embroidery machines (single needle and multi needle) and a lot of what you mentioned is already built into my machines. So it doesn’t sound that impressive. As mentioned there is a big learning curve from types of thread, what they are used for to the types of stabelizer and toppers to knowing your fabric from plush to cotton. Also knowing how to edit your designs from start and stop points to sewing order. The only thing I wonder about is the possibility of using existing designs from Design Space to use as embroidery files. I feel like Cricut should stay in their lane with cutting machines. JMO.
I have all this in my Husqvarna Sapphire 85 machine which works like a dream. Yeah it was $13,000 but I already own it and I wouldn't be replacing it with anything else
No. Babylock, Bernina, Brother are industry leaders in embroidery. Not sure how Cricut could expect to compete since they know nothing about sewing machines. Make improvements to what they have or experiment with laser cutting. Jumping too far outside their wheelhouse too fast.
Here’s the thing I’m concerned about with cricut implementing an embroidery machine I think they’re probably going to try to make it like the brother Skitch which is failing in the market because it’s app based and none likes it check out what’s being said about the Skitch it’s going to flop . I use my embroidery machine a lot and I think they’re out of their league here .no matter what the embroidery machine is capable of more falls on the user and in my experience people don’t just pick up embroidery it’s a skill that needs to be developed and a lot of people don’t have the patience to stick with it .
Yes, I like these updates! Keep them coming.
More to come!
Gonna be a hard pass for me! They need to get their ish together on Design Space before I make any further commitments to their products. Past actions predict future actions... and if they can't deliver a consistent well-working program to use their most popular machine with then I can't justify experimenting with anything else they do.
I already own a high-end embroidery machine and teach others how to use them. It's great, but as someone else said, another flatbed isn't the way to go. Plus the existing different established machine brands each have their own design program files, they're not interchangable. There are already thousands of designs on the market and Cricut would be playing catch-up. I didn't see anything in the patent that looked particularly exciting or new - there are plenty of ways to skin a cat. Maybe they will make it more affordable?
I am not sure I would buy the cricut embroidery but that would be awesome if it could stitch out any of the cricut files!!! Not sure what type of format it would be. I have a Bernina it uses file EXP or DST so if you can digitize files to those formats that would be a benefit for the Bernina sewing machine users I buy them off of Etsy now
Not holding my breath.. They really should decide what road Design Space is going down. It's not a design software as you can't manipolate nodes, it's more a 'open an existing design and cut it' or 'open an existing design, fiddle around for half an hour trying to modify it then give up, design in a different programs, save as svg, then open in DS and cut' 😅
I don't know if it's "the next big thing" but I'm intrigued. I agree with what you said about the Venture - it's an awesome machine but unless you create in HUGE volume it's not practical. If the price for this new embroidery machine isn't ridiculously high I might be tempted to add it to my craft room.
If they make an embroidery machine it has to be affordable right away! Cricut has the Joy- make a small version of embroidery and move up to bigger and better!
Hope they don't leave the papercrafting industry in the dark!
I have a brothers PRS100 embroidery machine and I love it and it sounds like Cricut has done what Brother already has done. Just saying
Intrigued- have wanted an embroidery machine but have held off.
Could you please update on their laser patent …. been putting off that type of purchase too. Is a laser machine coming out? Please share.
I do like your videos. I like knowing what is coming out soon or what is changing. I do not have the time to research myself, so I appreciate you researching and letting me know. Also, I like the videos from your car. :)
Sounds interesting and would love to see that, but if they are going to sell a machine that is highly priced it will not sell. Right now Brother sells a single needle embroidery machine for 499 which makes no sense and not worth it compared to a multineedle machine.
They can't even get design space right and so many clitches, why try and do an embroidery machine. Forget about it! No way! Get cricut to work correct!
I was actually thinking few days ago why cricuit hadn't already come up with the idea of embroidery machines, etc. i was googling Brother print and cut at the time
Single needle embroidery machine can have so many problems, cricut hasn’t perfected their original machines alone let alone starting embroidery.
Embroidery machine really doesn't interest me. Sure hope they continue to improve the DS software for those of us with cutting machines.
Hi, Tanner.... I always love your videos! I'm excited about the embroidery machine, too! But, I was hoping for a Cricut laser machine also... any plans for a laser?
I myself own a brother embroidery machine then upgraded to a husqvarna Viking which are very high end machines! So I’ll be interested in seeing what Cricut has in stored 😊
We also have to keep in mind that getting a patent doesn't mean it's going to be developed. Companies get patents all of the time. I have sooooo many thoughts...LOL
Not at all excited. The last few "big" releases were either way too expensive and/or not impressive.
So many great machines out there. I would rather see a laser cutter or software development.
Yes! YES!YES! Thank you so much Tanner! I am so so excited!!!
You're so welcome!
What. Don’t they need to get their cricut to work better and design space???
I love Cricut and thier machine!
I've been wanting to get an embroidery machine. I'm glad I waited. Now I can get a cricut embroidery machine.
Embroidery is a whole other level of a learning curve.
I have a brother embroidery sewing machine. So this maybe of interest to me.
Looks like the Brother machine that came out about a year ago.
Yes please, definitely offer your usual high quality embroidery designs. I own a Brother 10 needle and a Brother Luminaire. The embroidery world will be thrilled to see MGL start producing embroidery files. Just another way to expand MGL and bring in new creatives eyes to our community.
It would be awesome if they made a sub printer too!!!
No thanks, they can't even keep design space straight!
Can't imagine the price they will put on that one!!!!
I have a Bernina Artista. I'm interested in a multi needle
This sounds like a just a flat bed machine if it going to be a multi needle then it might be good but it’s just going to be another t overpriced a machine that I as an advanced machine Embroider with over 20 years experience I would not want it it might be good for a beginner if it’s priced right but knowing circuit it probably won’t be.
I have a Phaff enbroidery machine and an SWF industrial embroidery machine. I quit embroidering on my Phaff when I bought the multi-needle machine. I would never go back. I think that Cricut should keep improving the things that they do best and let the manufactures of embroidery machines do what they know. The industrial line of machines can do so much more and so much better than the home machines and if you really want to get into the business of embroidery, you may want to buy a used industrial machine that you can get for less money to start because it can do very large designs such as a jacket bull back. Spend your money and time on learning to digitize you own design so you can personalize products and creat your own designs]. The digitizing software is not cheep.
I must say another thing that print on demand and other types of direct fabric application has killed my embroidery business on Etsy. If you aren't an embroidery person already or you don't know how to sew or any of the other things that goes with learning how to use an embroidery machine, I guarantee this will be money thrown in the trash. Bad idea. Cricket
I agree.
I have had 2 embroidery sewing machines for over 15 years love my machine dont think I will be buying another one but happy cricut is spreading its wings into other areas tfs
Wow!! Personalization with monograms etc is so popular. Cant wait!!
I owned 2 Amaya embroidery machines (16 needles) . I made very good money but, caring for my mother with dementia
Sorry for the break. Caring for Mother caused me to sell them. I regret selling. I had zero sewing skills and became very good at at digatizing designs. I am super excited!
You could do Tanner from the truck 😂
Stuff that is to expensive sad ...
I think it would be a great addition, especially if the price point is good. Heard it from Ken. He is amazing. I’m already thinking of projects. 😊
YAY!!!! I was already looking into buying and embroidery machine, although I'm not into sewing at all. Oh my, that's a dream come true!! Thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome!
YES!!! I Am SOOOO Excited to hear about this!!!
Most embroidery machines are extremely expensive.
#TannerFromTheCar 🤣🤣🤣
So excited!!! Been thinking about buying an embroiderer, but now I will wait!!! Can't wait!!! Love Cricut!!!
Have fun!
Said this a million years ago they were gonna make an embroidery machine when I was cutting fabric and making appliqué designs
