Great video Spencer. As someone who played Division 1 soccer in college, I can tell you younger guys that are trying to get recruited that the information in this video is spot on. Contact as many schools as you can and personalize the ones that you're most interested in or think you have the best chances to go to. Even if you're already getting recruited, you should still be contacting as many schools as possible. Unless you're on the youth national teams, colleges will not be coming to knock at your door as you think. A lot of good players get overlooked because they don't market themselves enough. I'd also recommend going to camps if you can afford to. But Either way, you have to go out of your comfort zone and put yourself out there. Keep Grinding!

Love the video because I can relate 100% since I wouldn’t be transferring to play College Soccer if I didn’t send out emails to coaches with my info and accolades. So anyone reading this please be proactive or you’ll regret it in your future!
what year were you in when you sent your email? Did you automatically have a full highlight video ready? Did you play club soccer or high school soccer, maybe both? What did you do when you started off. Also, last thing, what college?
I was a junior when I first started sending out emails which may have been on the later side because I knew people who committed in their sophomore year, I didn’t have a full highlight video right away but once I made one I sent it out and I played both club and high school but if you’re looking to play college soccer, club soccer is more important while high school is more for fun. I essentially. Let them know that I was interested with a list of my academic and athletic achievements and talked about my position. I emailed a few D3 and some D1 schools but I’d rather not say what school right now just for privacy reasons, I hope you understand and sorry for the late response but I hope this helps a bit!

although sending personal emails to every college coach you email is extremely annoying, it must be done! the amount of success I had after sending personalized email was crazy! 4/10 I would guess which is pretty good considering the amount of mail coaches get a day. You're helping out so many young ballers they'll def thank you later!

Love this Spencer! To everyone; I actually transferred from D2 to D1 this spring through this procedure. The only difference was that I had to make the e-mail list on my own and I sent every e-mail one by one and changed the name of the coach and school name for every e-mail. That took way longer than this... wish this video was out a few months ago, haha! However, good luck to everyone looking to transfer in the future. I can GUARANTEE that this procedure will land you a scholarship if you have the quality needed.

Muba25 I made a highlight video of my freshman season in D2 and emailed it along with talking about my soccer history and academic results. Out of all D1 schools I got answers from 20%, 15% being interested and in the end like 10% came with offers

Hey Spencer, I’m a high school senior who plays soccer and I wish I would’ve had this kind of drive that you had! I know that upcoming seniors will appreciate the work you put in for this video and resource, I wish it would’ve been there when I started my recruiting process. Good news, I have 7 d3 and naia offers but had a tryout for the university of West Florida d2 and am waiting to hear a response! I'm not bad at the game and I wanna make it! My English isn't that good academically and that's why I'm kinda afraid to go to College and be a student athlete! I don't know you well enough to give you can accurate answer mate. Choosing to pursue a professional contact outside of college is a difficult decision to make. My best piece of advice is to keep your options open. Never fully rely on one opportunity in football. You're inevitably going to fail in your career so you need multiple back up plans to fall back on. I would confirm with the NCAA and NAIA Eligibility Center's that you can play in college. After you're 20 years old things can get tricky when playing college sports, especially for internationals.

I am trying to transfer right now, I will do this. However my highlight video is from me as a freshman and sophomore in highschool :/ and I dont have enough footage from me in college to make a new one. (Its still a good highlight video). I'm working to go pro and I'm going to keep working for it, I know it's going to be hard but that's what I signed up for.

IMG is essentially just a preparatory boarding school and sports training facility. It's not a college. There's over 1200+ men's college soccer programs in the country so you can most definitely do it👍🏼

Muba25 they want to know how you play, if u don’t have a highlight you can go to a showcase or sm like that
If you have collected some good accolades over your career it'll definitely help your chances of getting replies back without a video, However, if your football résumé isn't the best it'll be very hard to differentiate yourself from the rest of the players who are emailing coaches. A quality highlight video is what can separate you from the pack.

What if I am a freshman in high school and don’t have enough footage to make a highlight video? Also you should put in lower D2 schools on the list
College coaches can't fully communicate with you until you're a junior in high school so you still have plenty of time. You definitely want to start filming all your games starting next season though. I would email every school in the nation if you have the patience and determination. Never discount a college based of it's location, size or the league it plays in. The more schools you can contact the better⚽️

There's no secret way to get in. It's easier than most academies as if you have the money you're automatically admitted. That doesn't mean you'll be playing DA though. Once you're enrolled you're trying out for the club or academy team.

Will a highlight video of a lower level adult league still be convincing to college coaches?
If the footage looks professional and is being filmed with a sports mast than I would say yes. But if you're having your friend film you with his phone, head height on the ground and he doesn't know how to stabilize a camera, then that's footage you may want to avoid using.

It's from the NCAA Eligibility Center which you'll need to register with in order to be eligible to play college sports.
When would be the right Time in high school to send the email? Mid senior soccer season, after it?

Coaches can't formally communicate with you until you're a junior so ideally you would want to send emails during the fall of that year👍🏼
I have a question, I’m on 4:19 of the video and I want to email some coaches but my dad said to not Bc I’m not ready yet and he doesn’t want me to ruin my chances. But I do believe I’m ready to email coaches. What should I do?
I'm not exactly sure what he means by "ruining your chances"... There's not a cap of how many times you can email college coaches. If you're persistent and dedicated enough I would email every school in the nation multiple times until they reply back explicitly stating their non interest. One thing to know though is until you're a junior in high school coaches can't fully communicate with you.
Spencer I've sent out like 30 personal emails to schools I'm interested in. Do you think it would be worth while to send individual emails to every school or do as you suggested and use the mail merger to send generic emails all out.
If you have the patience to send 200+ personalized emails to coaches then I would say go for it👍🏼 But from my experience players usually only get a 10-20% reply rate so that's why I say personal the emails to the schools you're most interested in.

I have another question though, I'm trying to play proffesional soccer and I'm thinking of signing an Ax tour in Chicago which is close by. I'm also looking into trials and camps in Europe but they seem to be like 10k to 20,000 dollars. I'm 19 and too old to join a proffesional youth academy camp which usually goes for 1 thousand. What do you think is the best way to approach sighing that pro contract and am I too old at 19 to join a youth academy since they have u19 and u23 teams? I was originally planning to play 4 years of college and try and go pro but I feel like teams want younger guys and at 22 I may be at a bigger disadvantage.
Send me the link where it says a company is charging 10-20k for trials in Europe as that's borderline fraud. The average age in America to go pro is around 21-22 so you still have plenty of time to play in college. You're still extremely young in the eyes of American scouts.
@@SpencerMoeller here are the links however these seem to be for a whole year so I assume they would be a little expensive. I have seen 2000 dollar 30 days camps offered by the same company IFX. However as a broke college athlete I'm not prepared to spend that or ask my parents to spend that especially when I'm able to play college soccer on a scholarship. I just want to say thanks for the videos you inspire me to work hard and play pro soccer and I hope you continually succeed and make it in your journey. I dont want to bombard you with questions but I worry that I'm going to end up playing 4 years of college soccer not get drafted into the mls and really have nowhere to go after that. Obviously I'm going to try tryouts and since I'm romanian I may try to play in romanias first league as I have friends who are already playing in the first and second league as teenagers. I haven't even heard of this company, but they're seriously scamming players out of thousands of dollars. No football agency in the world can justify charging $20k to play for a semiprofessional club. I would not recommend flying to Europe unless you have connections and contacts that can help you out when you get there. You'll have a difficult time finding a club if you're just knocking on doors asking for tryouts. AX, PSC and Soccer Smart all have great combines that can give you the exposure you need to get noticed by professional teams👍🏼

Ideally you want a video attached with your email as college coaches get dozens of emails everyday and you need something to differentiate yourself. If you have a distinguished football résumé you may get some descent replies back, but nothing compared to what you would get if you have a great highlight video👍🏼

Interesting question... I wouldn't see why you couldn't to be honest as if you're a standout beach footballer than those skills somehow translate to a full 11v11 match on a pitch. I wouldn't recommend your entire video be comprised of beach highlights though.
