As a head college coach I want to thank you again. I see every mistake you mentioned every day. I don't have time to deal with all that when I see over 100 emails every day. If I see scholarship in the subject I delete it, if I see a generic address like "Dear Coach" I delete it, if it's a lifetime story I leave it and likely never get back to it. I had a 29 minute highlight video sent to me this season. That topped the 12 minute one I received last season. Hopefully you make plenty off of making these videos. It's ashame clubs don't teach these things.
Coaches don't have time to personally watch every single player that contacts them in 2019. Technology has been a blessing for many coaches who are located in remote parts of the country as it allows them to easily assess a players ability without potentially wasting a substantial amount of time driving/flying to see them play.
Hey if I could ask as someone looking to play college soccer, would you prefer a 1:30 video or say a 3-4:00 video so you can see more of what they can do?
@@SpencerMoeller correct. There's 7 days in a week and I work all of them. After office hours, college practice, and running my academy I then try to catch a club practice or high school game this time of year. Then if I'm lucky at about 9pm when I get home I may be free, unless there's film to work on. Chances are my "free time" consist of phone calls with my assistants to discuss upcoming days.
@@SpencerMoeller we also have a set budget per school. I do attend big and small tournaments, but even if I take my entire staff to a tournament we will still miss many players. It's impossible to see everyone if they don't send film.
Hey spencer been watching your videos since you where playing for Lindsey in college you have showed me a lot and motivated me to start my own channel so I appreciate you man ! Much love
Thanks brother means a lot !! I’m originally from Texas but when you moved to follow your dream to Germany last year I knew college wasn’t the way. So I signed a contract In London to play for an academy to try to live my dream and get a pro contract ! So thank you for showing me to chase my dreams and now I I’m trying to do my two favorite things RUclips and football ! So much love bro have a good one !⚽️🔥
I didn’t make high school for my freshmen year (current year), mainly because I haven’t played in a team before and do not have game experience. (Haven’t played in a team because parents had no time to take me). In terms of touch, dribbling, shooting, etc, I’m much better than all of the other kids who did make it because I have been individually training for 2 years now basically every day. I was able to tryout and made an A team recently, with the coaches saying they were impressed. Do I still have a chance in this game?
David Szemak if you are as good technically as you say you are then what you need to do now is understand team tactics and there is an abundance of resources online and you can watch games to understand how to play with a team. You’ve already down the hard part now you just need to knuckle down and the opportunity’s will present themselves
Hello i understand you are taking about grades are essential but if you are offered a scholarship and a subject requires a 3.0 gpa do you have to make this grade 100% ?, thanks
Hi Spencer, I'm a sophomore from Italy and I recently sent out a few emails to coaches with a link to my highlight video. The video is a bit too short and the email is kinda long but do you think I could make up for this "mistake" if I make a much more professional and slightly longer video with a shorter email and send it out around mid-junior year or is that too late? It would really mean a lot to me if you could respond :)
Hey good afternoon Spencer i have a question how am I able to get looked at by a college coach since my high school soccer team is not so good and we mostly loose every game but my the league i play for is really good but not well know I’m always putting in the work morning and night this is my sophmore year and Ik I’m this year and the following two more years i can get looked at can you help me please and thank you
Quick question Spencer, I used to be a skateboarder and much like the highlight videos in soccer you needed to create some sort of video compiled with your best footage if you wanted to approach companies about sponsorships. However, companies didn't like skateboarding videos with music in the background and I was wondering if it was the same case for soccer. Do college coaches care if you have music in your highlight video or should it include no music?
Interesting question bro. You definitely don't want an overly loud or obnoxious song playing in the background, but no, most coaches don't mind a highlight video with music in it👍🏼
Hi men, im always watching your videos. I´ve played professionally in mexico but im thinking about look for a USL team. Do you think it would be a good option to try sign with a college for a year so I can stay in US an then make a tryout for a professional team?
You may have a difficult time trying to play in the NCAA if you already played professionally, but if you were being paid under the table you should be fine. Since you already have a good résumé I would consider speaking with your agent about contacting USL clubs as you could maybe bypass college altogether. Playing college soccer though will definitely get you some good looks to sign a contract in the states👌🏼
@@SpencerMoeller Man, thanks a lot for having this kind of attention with your subscribers. Hello Spencer Moeller....I’m an amazing forward I really wanna get a soccer scholarship abroad....but I’m lost I don’t know where to start from can you please help me at.....
You can still get an athletic full ride with a 2.5 GPA but you have to be an extremely talented player for the coach to risk jeopardizing the academic reputation of the school on your behalf.
Hey spencer, really enjoy the videos I live in the Uk I’m playing at a good level of football and have really good grades. Do you think there’s much chance I could get a full ride scholarship?

Hey bro tell me this app NCSA if it actually helps out in trying to find college coaches scott and also could you please help me out in editing my video?
PDL is now called USL 2, but the college spring season would end before most clubs start the USL 2 season. The majority of the more serious college players will play for a semiprofessional team over the summer months👍🏼
Spencer Im playing in England and considering moving to America for Uni, What is for your advice if I want to come a Pro. Im doing a 365 day Challenge to Pro on my channel
Awesome to hear you'll be playing college football👌🏼 My biggest piece of advice for you would be to maser the basics, make connections and avoid comparing yourself to other players. You'll find when you're in the prime of your career there's many professional footballer's who lack the fundamentals of the game. We imagine as kids that everything at the pro level is insanely quick and sharp. But once you progress as a player you'll find that's far from the truth. If you master the basics early on in your career you'll standout tremendously once you sign your first contract. Making connections and contacts within the football world right now will provide you with dividends in the future. Every club I have played for after college has come from networking with players and coaches. If you aren't proactive with your situation you'll be in for a rude awaking once you reach your first big failure. I have been told from many mentors that playing professional football is more who you know than how you play. Early in my youth career I used to compare myself to footballers who played the same position and who were a similar age. I would waste an insane amount of time watching how they played and seeing if they had what it took to become a professional. I eventually become self conscious of how I played after seeing the traits they possessed and that I lacked. Ultimately 99.9% of the players who I thought were my competition did very little with their careers. Focus on yourself and the rest will fall into place 👊🏻⚽️
I'm not very familiar with the transfer rules in the NCCAA, but transferring to a third 4-year school would mean in most cases you would lose a year of eligibility and be would athletically ineligible for 1 season.
I’m 13 years old, the varsity team at my school has already told me that I am a key player for the team next season . I’m one of the best varsity players in my area but I live in a poor town that doesn’t have a camera for games, what should I do because I know I’m good enough
my question is how do i make a highlight video in my country there are no leagues of football or clubs that play against each other at youth level its just academies and there is rarely a match so how should i make a highlight video out of it
Schools rarely want training footage as it's not always relatable to an actual match, but film what you can and be honest with coaches about your situation.
Hey Spencer, I'm really curious. I am applying for full scholarships for soccer as a Canadian to U.S. Universities but I'm just sending the emails now... am I too late?
I'm not that knowledge about schools in Canada unfortunately but if it's anything similar to the United States you still have time. However, the longer you wait to sign for a university in the spring though the less scholarship money you will ultimately receive. Most programs have roster spots available until April-May but run out of money in the beginning of the year.
Thanks for the video Spencer, also thanks for always cheering on me on the Nike run app hahah so I’m playing at a community college and it’s my second year do you know anything about NCAA eligibility requirements for transfers?
You would have no problems transferring to an NCAA program if it's your first transfer. Here's everything you need to know about 2-4 transfers fs.ncaa.org/Docs/eligibility_center/Transfer/DI_2-4_Transfer.pdf
Once you have 5-10 worth of footage you can begin making your video. If you can record every game in your season that would be great, but depending on your age most players don't have a year to wait before they need to market themself.

Hey spencer, really enjoy the videos I live in the Uk I’m playing at a good level of football and have really good grades. Do you think there’s much chance I could get a full ride scholarship?
There's over 1,200+ men's college soccer programs with over 7000+ scholarships. Everyone has a chance👍🏼
Is sending emails the best way to go about it? Most companies that do it want you to pay £2000 before you even start the process.
Never pay that much for any scholarship agency. Sending emails is still the most effective way to market yourself in 2019.
