    Great satsang. Just stumbled onto your channel looking for The Upanishad's. I first read it in the early 1970's, and have read mucho since then, but I still think it's a gem, and was curious about it. It's really interesting hearing about it's origins. You have a really accessible style. I've learned much already.

    In ancient Vedas and before it was not necessary to ask this Question "who am I", because people were not yet separated from God. They saw all Powers as aspects of One and themselves as part of those Powers. When Vedas were materialised, there was still a dialog, but not worshipping between humans and gods. But later on people went deeper in Kali yuga and lost clearness of their vision and senses. And rites have become worshipping instead of being a dialogue, a conversation. Upanishads were needed as a break drill to make a hole in the concreting minds of humanity. IMHO.

    Namaste sir 🙏🙏🙏 l love your work, sir according to the advaita vedanta philosophy the ultimate reality is one and great nothingness so I am very confused about that there are great saints of advaita vedanta who also teaches the same thing it seems so nihilistic but it is not so can you please elaborate on this topic sir please🙏🙏 hope you will respond thank you

    • @rajadasworld
      @rajadasworld  3 года назад +1

      Not so much nihilistic as ab-negative - meaning peeling the layers of the onion until you get to the truth that everything is pure nothingness and everythingness. The ultimate realization is Kaivalyam (alone self-realization as Atman Brahman) in all traditions, the paths are many. Advaita says there is no two only one - all else is a construct of mind. Vedanta (some Upanishads and the Geeta) says all is one and one can arrive at that through works and deeds and devotion and meditation and contemplation. Tantra says all is one, but the one is also in everything so one can experience pure Sat Chit Ananada in everything as well as the source and you can do that in stages of unfolding reality or vibration using sound, concentration and dissolution.

    Rajaji, pranam! Your juxtaposition of Upanishads as a reaction to Brahmin priest class may not be accurate. Would love to get some evidences. Upanishads are the highest teachings of Vedas. They operate in spiritual realm. It’s a directional knowledge system. The Mimansa part of Indian 6 Darshanas of Hinduism or Sanatan Dharma is about the fire rituals, doing good karmas etc. The societal stability with the then existing technological advancements is what’s structured into varna system having the 4 classes. Each class represents a couple of chakras playing out. It’s completely different world view where highest goal is liberation and not an ego or body based position.

    • @rajadasworld
      @rajadasworld  Год назад

      You really should study more. In the 50 and 60's many Indian scholars posited the theory that the Upanishads were a reaction against orthodoxy and the caste system. R.L.Kashyap (1887-1954) argued that the Upanishads were a reaction against the caste system and the priestly monopoly of knowledge in Vedic Brahmanism.
      D.S.Sarma argued that the Upanishads were a reaction against the emphasis on ritual in Vedic Brahmanism and a move towards a more philosophical and spiritual understanding of religion. The otehr major school of thought was that the Upanishads were an avolutionof Vedic thinking (whiche were much more ritualistic, animistic and eleemntal and Upanishadic thinking was much more internal and spiriitual. Even Adi Shankara believed that the Upanishads were an evolution towards wisdom "The Upanishads are the essence of the Vedas, and they contain the highest level of spiritual insight that can be achieved. The Upanishads teach that the individual soul is not separate from the Supreme Being, but is one with Brahman. This is the highest truth, and it is the goal of all spiritual practice." Swami Vivekananda took this further and I studied through him and the Ramakrishna Mission
