I know that duuring our pre-cana class, our priest was shocked to see that my husband and I agreed 100% on the financial piece of the inventory questionnaire. Never had major issues in our marriage around $$$. Small spats but we survived, are debt free(exept mortgage), put kids through college debt free, early retired (and I homeschooled for 10 years). It can be done....takes discipline and sacrifice.

Very similar to our story. We both worked - my wife still does and I work part-time. We haven't had debt for years and paid off our house three years ago. We put our kids through college, and they helped by working. We have a good retirement and are doing some traveling. Life is good!!

This clown needs to get a real job. I love going to church, and being a worship leader at a church is nice, but that doesn’t pay the bills. That can be his SIDE / WEEKEND job. During the weekday, he needs to get a MAIN job- a REAL job- doing something that people are willing to pay a lot of money for. Like law, construction, medicine, accounting, car sales. A job that’s not fun, but it pays well. This guy has the work ethic of a bum but he wants to be rewarded like a princess

Simple question: what is your household income? Wife 2800 per month take home. Husband 15 per hour when I have work. No doubt they are fighting about money.

You HAVE to be on the same general page as your spouse, or you will not get very far with your finances
From a family that worked on a variable income like that, the only thing I can say is stop treating your side hustle as income. Live off of what is guaranteed and throw the "extra" at debt. Once you are debt free only budget for what you have already made, not what you project to make.
Everybody wants the easy way out. They think they can do day trading or start a side gig and that's going to catapult them into a high-earner lifestyle.
The only new car he should be buying, is a hot wheels.
*If they want to live a nice life with brand new cars, etc. they should also focus a bit on developing higher income earning careers! They would have less financial reasons to argue*

This marriage sounds like a headache, it’s the main reason why I separated with my ex. He did not want combine finances while I wanted to work together. Now I live on my own and make more money and have more money saved up then I did being with him. Learn to be independent and INVEST IN YOURSELF. I think that’s where his wife is getting.

People think that, butusually financial issues are a representation of deeper issues. Financial issues correlate to so many others things as it is connected to everything and easier to measure.
I’d recommend to get another job? If you don’t have a current steady income/job security to balance the payments out with the wifey??

Sounds like a couple poised for success in life but he needs more steady income during the work week. Then the wedding videos and workshop leader jobs can provide extra income.
Yeah, situations such as this is where the Ramsey "baby steps" and budgeting can really help. I would only budget for the stable income and treat any variable income as "bonus" money. Also, with variable income, the $1000 emergency fund isn't going to cut it, and that seems to be where the wife has a lot of angst. Use the variable income to build up the emergency fund to about six months of expenses and then use the variable income to pay down the debt.

You can hear the venom in his voice, his income isn't stable he's in no place to up his car. Don't be confused that because you do alot of weddings with fancy cars that you need to roll up in one yourself. Maybe borrow her car for the day if yours isn't reliable.
He needs to man-up and take responsibility and get real work. That's his wife's issue. Her Hypergamy is kicking in and she's ready to leave.

Don't agree, here in the netherlands i have a total of 3000 euro student loans, and currently increased my inversting portofolio with 30k.
With the student loans being a deductable at 0.001% intrest with a period over 35 years i am minimally paying it off.
As soon as i need to get a mortgage i can pay it off fully, because while investing got 30k profit this year. i make more money with it than it costs me

No, her real issue with him is that she out-earns him. As a rule, with very few exceptions, women don't respect men who make less than them. "No money no honey" is true for most men.
He needs to talk with a career coach and recruiters and do some serious thinking about getting a new career that takes advantage of his strengths and pays more.
