To anyone that doesn't know, save/scrumming now works on Halo 2 as of 18 June 2024, patched in our favor. You can now save/quit at any point in the mission including the last checkpoint, and resume from main menu, your time will not go up. Only way to beat Halo 2 for normies like me and most of you reading this. Now for the god despawn tip:
at the 1:20 mark, don't do what Silver does. Make sure Boom and Sputnik skulls are on, when that first elite spawns (on the left side), stick him and make sure you start running backwards and jump. If you do this, the explosion kills 5 enemies (either by explosion or knocking them off the platform) while also boosting you back onto the gondola b/c of the sputnik skull. Then you just have to quickly snipe the 6th enemy, almost always an elite on the right side (sometimes can be left side too). No need to throw/time multiple grenades. I usually get the checkpoint before doing the bridge/grenade jump at around the 1:02 mark, so you only lose like 20ish seconds if you fuck it up.
This method is consistent and I've done it on my solo run and coop run, coop is even easier, just get player 2 to stand on the gondola and snipe the 6th enemy/elite, while player 1 just focuses on sticking the first elite and making it back onto the gondola. I got a best time of 15:35, which to me a week ago would seem absolutely bullshit and impossible, but here we are.
Its the Regret room at the end you'll be crying at, the god despawn in comparison is super easy. My best advice is after you've boarded him and bitch slapped Regret twice, go up to the upper floors and try to get opposite of the enemies (look at your radar) then crouch and hide in a corner, if you do this right you'll get a checkpoint, then you can save/scrum from there instead of all the way at the beginning of the room. Also make sure you have a plasma pistol and a carbine or BR, noob combo still the best way to take out the double plasma rifle wielding honor guard elites, make those guys your priority, they usually spawn after the 3rd bitch slap. Thanks for that check point trick on the Regret fight. My god that would've been annoying otherwise. Imagine doing that without the save/quit exploit ? God damn i would've been practicing it for like 3 days at least i bet... only took me like 2.5hours of work to get 15:30 but my god was i getting angry in the process LOL
Also the melee check point trick to despawn the phantom,,, MY GOD. That part actually took me 1.5 hours ... i wish i read your grenade method .. i did it silver's way which is harder. Silver made this 8 years ago.. still works today but a few things would be optimized by him im sure otherwise...
also using the noob combo for the regret fight saved my ass many times for sure lol

In comparison (using save/quit), gravemind is actually easy. It's literally the beginning of the level that sucks BUT NOWHERE NEAE as bad as regret boss fight.

When he just casually threw 2 grenades into the air and jumped onto a little wall and threw a grenade onto an elite that spawned as he threw it. I knew i had no hope
Way easier now. If you still haven't gotten this, turn on sputnik and boom. Get to the gondola part, then where he starts throwing grenades....don't. Instead, run up to where the elite spawns, stick him while running backwards and jump. The explosion kills 5 of the 6 people, and also sends you flying backwards onto the gondola. Take out your sniper and kill the 6th enemy.
I SUCK at speedrunning and even I could do this. Also, dont' forget save/quit method keeps your timer from going up if you fail too many times. Good luck!
@@IAmNotARobotPinkySwearI swear, there are so many halo guides for legendary achievements and like almost none of them ever use skulls to make the game easier. I get the vanilla legendary experience, but I swear, skulls like grunt funeral, boom, Sputnik, and a couple others make encounters much bearable. Wouldn’t have gotten nearly as many tricks, skips, and teleports without boom and Sputnik alone

That was one of the toughest levels across all Halo games. Got around 25 minutes and will never do that again. Wish me luck for my remaining last 3 levels.

Thank you so much for the guide! I got just over 13 mins! Only thing that tripped me up was having to melee over and over to prevent the checkpoint before the phantom de-load.
To get lucky in the room with Regret is an understatement. I have nearly mastered the entire run leading up the final room, getting there in 13 minutes, and then it takes be at least 15 min to kill Regret. The Plasma Rifle Elites are complete bullshit, I can't move without dying. 28:37 is my time to beat, can't seem to kill Regret.
Tommy Gerace it took me 3 tries getting INTO the regret room. But the 1st time I got in there, it was nothing but sword elites. First try basically LOL
Demonic Zebra Finally got my time down to 19 min a few weeks ago, was enough for the achievement but damn was it time consuming lol
Biggest suggestion would be to take a sword in there. By lunging you can board him from further away which gives you way more options to get to him quickly. It doesn't seem like much but it lets you throw yourself towards him and almost guarantee that you'll get a board and never need to go near the elites. I don't know the exact mechanics but I think if you hit him with the sword immediately before boarding him, you only have to punch him once. That also reduces the amount of time you are soaking up shots and again it makes way more difference than youd expect.
Also, really nail your movement around the room. Spend minimal time on ground floor, try to immediately climb to the top by any means necessary.
The fact that I got Regret in 3 attempts on my run when I've always struggled playing casually, nightmare fuel I tell you. Now I just conquered one of my paralysis demons XD
And 16:05 but I save and quit to save time through ignoring deaths (timer resets to checkpoint), so take that as you will
I started the level exactly how you did and the phantom did not Despawn. Confirmed that I got all 6 enemies too. Weird
you're not delaying the checkpoint by meleeing, trust me, I did the same before I realized why it wasn't working for me.
As soon as you kill the 6th enemy start meleeing and look towards the direction the gondola is heading, when you see the phantom flying towards you. Let it fly overhead and then stop meleeing, if you did it right, you'll see checkpoint on the top left.
Also, zoom in on the phantom w/ your sniper or any other weapon, I don't know if that also is required for the despawn but I zoomed in every time.
The RNG you have is unreal. I get to the regret fight and get 18 dual wield plasma rifle elites
I just got the Halo 2 and 1 speedrun achievements, and now I am going back and doing the ones I didn't get the par on, on easy. I am taking immense pleasure in just blasting everyone to pieces.
ChocolateCatFat100 Yeah, I did LASO and then the Speed Runs first so it is a delight to be only playing on Legendary for these Par Score guides, lol.
Been using this channel a lot and now on 680/700, half way through monopolised and I must say so far these videos have helped me to beat all H2 missions so far within par time. Thank you for the great content, my favourite compared to other channels that either use too advanced speed run techniques or just don’t show/explain well enough.

I got the god despawn to work once and I didn't even kill all 6 enemies, other times when I kill them all it doesn't work, idk what triggers it to work anymore in 2019
Edit: Apparently it's the checkpoint that messes with the despawn and if you keep meleeing until it despawns it will trigger.

Followed naked Eli's video the first time I did this (without skulls) and had 17 minutes going into the boss fight. Hate this mission because I ended with 35 minutes, when I redo it I'm following your video so thanks for making it.

so i made it to the final temple with 11 minutes on the clock and after wasting 2 minutes trying to rush past the elites into regret's room, i found it much easier to grab one of the plasma pistols near buy and kill the grunts and jackals and noob combo the elites that came out the door. This allowed me to enter regret's room without interference. During the fight i got 2 check points and I finally finished the level at 16:30. If i hadn't wasted my time dying, i could've gotten under par.
i used feather to jump thru a lot of parts of this level- very helpful. also boom and grunt funeral helped me through a few scenes. sputnik pinata and catch were used and helped immensely at the end scene. i saved 3 rockets solely for killing plasma rifle elites in the end scene and didn't die at all. between killing grunts and them exploding, my rockets, and random grenades there was a lot of enemies being tossed around. don't kill the sword elites if you can avoid it, that's just one less plasma rifle elite that might spawn
also my time ended up being 19 minutes. in the beginning you can grenade jump to the roof then once again to the adjacent structure. then you can simply run and jump to the gondola, all within the first 90 seconds.
You still get achievement even with the non-scoring skulls?
If you're having trouble with killing regret, you can always use the save/quit and then resume trick and it won't hurt your time

Thanks for this guide. I made a couple of small changes - like others said you don't need to kill everyone to get the god despawn to work - just keep meleeing on the gondola. Throwing grenades and stickying the elite do help you make it to the gondola alive though. Also for the life of me I couldn't beat the regret battle all in one go, so I took my time and killed everyone outside of the boss room to get a checkpoint, then I went in, boarded him two times, and then left the entire room until I got a checkpoint. Was much easier this way and ended up with a time of 17:00. Also sometimes I would kill the sword elites if they were too close, but eventually realized that if I kept them alive, it would decrease the odds of a plasma rifle elite spawning, so I just got better at dodging them.
WTF!? I CANNOT for the LIFE of me do the first grenade jump. THE VERY first one. I don't understand how it launches you that high. Help please? I'm just so confused.
If you're talking about the one that launches over the broken bridge, it's really tough to do regularly, but he's got Sputnik Skull on which makes grenades launch you way higher.

Also *HUGE* tip. If you get stuck at one check point, like the checkpoint before fighting regret, you can save and quit then resume and the time will be when you first got to the check point which could save you minutes!!!!
@@MapleTree0 it's long for everyone, but I did that last fight for a good 15-20 minutes so it could have been 30-35 instead of 15
Thanks for your guides man got 19:22 on this mission after who knows how many tries and got me the Monopolized Achievement at last! 2:54:21 for my final combined time. Definitely want plasma pistol/BR for the final room...annoying how luck based it is but I had a nice buffer of around 24 minutes to complete the level so I was all good
took me 2.5hrs but finished in roughly 14 minutes thanks to spamming the save & quit and your vid. the hardest part(s): the sniper jackals, nailing the god despawn (you have to continuously melee after jumping on the gondola now. you don't even have to worry about killing all 6 enemies), and of course, punching the hell out of regret. the latter part was the most frustrating.
I've found an easier, faster, and more consistent way to do the first section.
Turn on feather and sputnik. Shoot a grenade behind hologram to one side and stand on the adjacent ramp diagonally from the grenade (45 degrees upward and to the rear corner of the room) It's fairly easy to launch yourself on the ceiling this way (you want it to blast you into the wall with upward momentum, not through the hole or you'll go too far). Once you understand what I'm saying, it really easy to do and repeat.
Then pick off the five jackals and hide if a drone starts shooting you. One you've done that you can walk to the front ramp of the ceiling and find a consistent place to throw another grenade above you to launch you onto the gondola from the roof ramp. Oftentimes you get a checkpoint, so you can practice it until you have a good position memorized.
Once you land on the gondola, put your toes on the middle of the ledge at 1:24 right next to where the enemies spawn. Toss a plasma on the center of the wall in front of you and step foreword to spawn the enemies right before the grenade goes off. The grenade will kill the enemies and blast you onto the gondola. Don't worry if any survive, just hide on the gondola, and jump and melee until the phantom disappears.
thank you so much for this tip. i ended up altering it and getting a time of 23:17. Same skulls but when i spawned i threw a grenade up against the side of the the concrete(?) block to my right when i spawned and jumped on the block and as soon as i landed i was able to get the grenade to push me up the wall and out of the top of the room.
added tips:
the nade jump from the roof to the gondola is super easy once you find the right angle. dont jump at all just flet the momentum push you sideways all the way to the gonola.
for the part where you have to kill the 6 enemies, just dont. throw a grenade at the center of the wall and immediately jump up the little rail. the blast will push you back to the gondola. just try to maneuver yourself to the highest point you can in case youre too high and a kill timer gets you.
the part at 6:20, as soon as you walk out the door, turn around, throw a nade at the floor and find an angle and you can launch yourself over that hill he jumps up (couldnt get there before enemies spawned so i had to improvise and found it to be much easier)
for the regret fight, anytime you board him (if you have plasmas) hit the left trigger as soon as you hit the boarding button, immediately make your way to the top floor when he drops you. i managed to not die at all during the fight
Only issue w/ this is later on explosions/getting shot at while jumping or just getting randomly meleed will basically force a checkpoint reset lol But not a bad method gotta say, good job

Started my journey about 5 days ago and I gotta say this mission is giving me a run for my money, gonna keep trying though as my last few levels had outstanding times thanks to your guides :)

Wont lie. One small thing i did differently took it from (in my experience) 0% success rate to about 80% on the god despawn. One grenade in middle jump on left stick leftmost elite (elis newer tac) but more importantly just keep punching when on the gondola. Punch punch punch punch all the way untill the phantom is suppozed to drop hunters. If you see hunters it hasnt worked. That made it work almost every time for me.

@@epicgamer3560 punching in the older halo games delays checkpoints, if you know you know. I noticed its a checkpoint that causes the spawn, so i thought if i delayed it past that moment. And blam it worked. Anyway good luck with gravemind haha

Got a 13:10 on this level after hours of trying. Killing everyone and just leaving the sword elites to deal with is the play. I just keep killing the grunts and if a pulse elite spawned I focused him.

2024 update for the first skip i know a lot are struggling with.
Big thank you to HC for showing the skip, though as of August 2024 you can perform this skip without killing anything.
It seems the phantom dropping off troops now is linked to a checkpoint?
So. Spawn in the enemy to get the gondler moving, (throw a grenade just so you don't die)
But from there, just keep jumping and meleeing preventing a checkpoint, phantom should despawn.
I'm still testing, but so far it's worked every time

Just wanted to drop a comment, took me 27:35 ... haha that last room I kept getting elites with plasma rifles that would wreck me... it was ridiculous got dropped onto the sword elite a few times but finally managed it with that absurd time (almost double par time!).
Currently at a time of 1hour 10minutes
(6) levels left (Cairo Station, Delta Halo, Oracle, Sacred Icon, Gravemind, & Great Journey)
ive beat reach laso, h4 laso, h3 laso, odst laso and all under 3 hours for those games.. and this first gondola trick is the hardest trick ive had to do so far and i have a feeling it will possibly be the most frustrating. stuck on this for 1.5 hours now.

I got 1hr and 10 minutes on this mission with this fantastic guide I was 30 something minutes getting to regret.
After some INTENSE save scumming I finished this level with *14:59*
I could feel my blood pressure spike even higher than it already was (a result of dying dozens of times on this dreadful level) as I saw the timer keep ticking up toward 15:00.

15:35 for me 2 days ago, fuuuuck this game sometimes. God despawn was a walk in the park compared to the Regret room, I think I took a month off my life from that experience.
I can literally never get the dropship to despawn at the beginning, even when I kill all 6 right as they spawn it literally never works, I’m lost. - august 2021

Over the many patches since this vid came out it was altered slightly. All you need to do is kill everything that spawns on that platform and then immediately start jumping repeatedly. This will force the game to not give you a checkpoint and then phantom will despawn as it arrives. Getting the checkpoint after those enemies is what causes the glitch to not work, but jumping and/or meleeing prevents checkpoints.

If you’re like me and you’re struggling to get the phantom to despawn even after killing all 6 enemies, try meleeing non-stop as soon as you get on the gondola and the phantom should despawn 100% of the time
I kill all 6ish enemies right before the first gondola and I can never be quick enough to get onto the gondola before it leaves
Finally got the achievement, with only 56 seconds to spare, that's pretty much the difference of one death on this level

left this and gravemind for the end thinking it would give me trouble, got it in under 15 yea buddy.
I am so glad I discovered this exploit. If you save and exit the game resets your timer to the last checkpoint, but like how it doesn't recognize your death in Laso, it doesn't recognize you died and still resets your timer. I noticed it when I came back from a break while doing Library for Goatroped. I died, took a break, wait my timer went backwards... yup. Anyway plenty of deaths but a "deathless" run that got me a 16:05. And that's with the gondola skip but the god despawn failed for no reason. Killed all 6 of those enemies.
Please please please don't tell me the exploit doesn't affect the 3 hour achievement... but since it runs on best time and you still get par time achievements with it I'd assume I can still get monopolized. Otherwise I'd never get it.
And hey... I always struggle with regret's fight but on a time crunch I managed to do it in 3 attempts that got into the room. Thankfully I hid from the plasma rifle Elite that spawned after the 4th beating... that was close!
It'll work don't worry. I used the same method for Halo 1 and got the achievement. To see if the time is tracking, go to start->leaderboards->par times->halo 2. Then set it to legendary and see the mission times. If any mission says 1:40:39 or smoething like that, it means you have to redo the mission. If it says any other number, then it was tracking and you're good to go.
Got a time of 15:35 a couple days ago on Regret, and I'm down to 4hr 31 minutes on Legendary for Halo2. Gotta shave off 1hr 31 somehow, fuccckkkk

Thanks, got it under par time on legendary, really wasn't sure if i could do this with that final fight woth regret, so I'm very glad with the result. That god despawn isn't 1 of my fav tricks to perform though. I hope they can find a skip for the underwater "cutscenes" though to improve on time
I can't do it... I have tried to get this achievement for a really long time and I am no closer to getting it now than I was a year ago. I have 2 achievements left for the game. I have literally tried this level 100 times and I cannot beat it.

Honestly have no idea how to kill regret. I get swamped by elites and grunt as soon as I drop off his chair and die immediately. What do I do?

That level was simply ridonculous in Legendary
Attention for all the people that can’t get the phantom to disappear. I didn’t get the phantom to despawn but I was able to hop to the other gondola when it got stuck, hit the switch, enemies spawned, and once I killed them the gondolas started moving again.
And how did you kill all of the enemies with no grenades or ammo?
Does throwing the sticky on regret as you punch him kill him quicker?
Yes and pretty much the only way to kill him on laso
First time doing this, ended up with 39 minutes on the clock. Took around 2 hours in total to get the first three quarters of the mission down, which ultimately took around 14-15 min in one go. Then it took around 24 min in one go to kill Regret. My strategy was after hitting Regret immediately hauling ass to the second floor. I had a whole train of Honor Guards behind me the whole time. I also had Grunt Funeral, sputnik and boom on so sniping 1 or two grunts would cause a chain reaction allowing me to jump from the second floor to Regret again etc rinse repeat.
Honestly fighting drones feels 10x harder than killing Regret, but in that final temple you easily get swarmed so you have to hope most Elites get their swords out and just follow behind you and dont flank. Stupidly hard though.
got it on 13:58 after many many tries. my hands are still shaking because of how nerve wracking it was when I finally was getting good RNG and getting to the prophet quickly
so i have you on every mission besides cargo and maybe one more time wise. I get to this level and gravemind.... You have me beat time wise right now bro. time to pratice these runs. ty with the help. halo 3 is next. this mission my friend and i were doing on co op and we ran past the spawn of eletes in the first room, then sniped the snipers then jumped across like you. we used yout guide for the rest of the level and inprovised when needed. At thelast room, we blasted our way through the doors, then we got stopped. we got around 23 mins because one of us kept getting klusterfucked by regrets body guards. time to do it on single player and see if i can top you :D

I really gotta practice grenade jumping. With the 1000s of hours I have in all the Halo campaigns, I cannot get the timing right at all. The phantom has been despawning a lot for me lately. Maybe because I get there so fast? I don't know. I am pretty good at this game.
I can`t believe how many times i did die on the second gondola went from +3000 to -11000 i did needed about 40 minutes just for that, this mission is incredibly hard, and the end is really annoying, you make it look easy, but I do die there over and over
Man the par time is 15 mins on this map...... only one i cant get the par time for lol. When i try to do the grenade jump in the beginning after you do the jump slide, my game glitches out the grenade. Im thinking the rooftop part might be patched.
That’s what i thought too, but if you manage to get to the 2nd part where you have to do the crouch jump to perform the 2nd grenade jump, just look up and you’ll see you’ve been hitting a ceiling, just move to the left when you do the 2nd grenade jump, and you’ll make it, I was having that problem

Yup, the only skulls you can't use are 0.00 multiplier ones like Envy, Bandanna, etc.

After several hours i got a 18:41. the pain was literally all from the first couple minutes because i could never get the phantom to despawn. after i read in the comments about the meleeing until the thing despawns i finally got it

FUCK YEAH DID IT! Turns out just getting to Regret was the hard part, it only took me three tries once I was in the temple. Even beat the par time (by four seconds!), and since I saved this for last, I Regret Nothing and Going Nowhere Fast popped at the same time.

i cant get the ship to despawn in the beginning
Recent patches introduced a new wrinkle. You just need to start jumping and/or meleeing to delay the checkpoint. Getting a checkpoint keeps the ship from despawning, but if you cancel/delay the checkpoint it'll despawn.

So, for the second gondola section right before Regret, does the trick from LASO not work where you hide your head in the corner? Is that dependent on pathing/skipping certain checkpoints, or does it just take too long for the gondola to get moving again?
Ended up just using your strat here. It was too tricky to try to figure out a way to run past the enemies after the elevator room and up over to the gondola in a way to avoid loading the phantom and banshees, and as long as you take out the enemies on the other gondola before it arrives you don't really waste any time anyway.
Had to improvise because I lost my sword and ended up just flinging frag grenades to either side of the door and hope it flings the elites off the map as they come outside (I had boom, sputnik, and feather on, because I tried an alternate starting strategy that launched me onto the roof of the first room, then straight over to the building next to the gondola. Launched the gondola after like 45 seconds this way). Only took me like 20 tries to get a good run at Regret where he wasn't constantly dropping me in front of sword elites and I ended up with a 12:28 completion time!
Where are you actually standing when you throw the plasma grenades to kill the 6 covvies for the despawn? Been trying to get it to work for the last 3 hours and at best I can get 4 peeps with 3 grenades

Cool i got it down in 16 minutes, some friendly advice for anyone struggling with the Prophet i decided to use my sword and grenades on the group at the beginning ramp to get a noob combo setup for the boss room if you br the grunts and noob combo the plasma rifle honor guards this becomes a lot easier and a lot less rng, dont even bother with sword elites just kite them upstairs and jump off to beat down regret
What happens if the phantom doesn't disappear!?!? Seriously! It hasn't disappeared for me, I have the game paused and I got a checkpoint in the Gandala do I restart level?
+Life and Gaming u will probably spend 3 more minutes getting rid of the enemies on the platform but it s ,nota mandatory to despawn the panthom to get 14 or 14.30 minutes.
Obviously a late reply, but I think throwing the plasma nade after you kill the jackal snipers is essential. I didnt do it for the first few times that I managed to get onto the gondola, and it never despawned. After I started throwing that nade, it disappeared almost every time
i defiantly feel like the beginning is about the same on one or two player if u run past the eletes that spawn in the first halway, if u dont mind killing the eletes behind you.... thats where the two player is handy
the BIGGEST problem for me is when i'm punching regret he ALWAYS goes in the middle of the fucking room and I'm bombarded with grunts, swords and pistols. how the fuck do i keep this from happening?

I really think the damn god spawn is patched. I don't want to believe it, but all my attempts, even killing all 6 enemies quickly, leads to hunters dropping in as usual. :/

+Halo Completionist I have seriously never had a harder time with a boss fight. it is so RNG based. for anyone who has beatin it coop or solo please share some feed back.
Just keep running and don't kill any of the sword elites. it will spawn several plasma rifle elite that will tare you to shreds. You only need to succesfully launch 5 to 6 hijacks on Regret to kill him. If you are lucky to get a checkpoint mid fight, you are solid!

Took a 1:27:00 mainly because took me 300 plus tries to kill regret but beat it finally.

Why is there no checkpoints during the regret fight? It’s taking so much extra time
1:20 is a 500 sided dice role. I've been doing exactly what's shown for hours and the grenades never get everybody.
Hate this mission, was below your time until the fight with regret, then I was stuck on that fight forever. Ending time was 35:21.
Atleast if I don't make it up on other levels, I know what to retry first.

Old post so maybe not helpful anymore - I don't think you even have to kill all 6 enemies. Hopefully land your grenades, jump on to the gondola then just continually melee. This will skip the checkpoint which you usually get partway through the gondola just before the phantom spawns - should skip the phantom spawning altogether.
@@SupernovaX360A THIS i did it and only killed 4 enemies,keep pushing the melee button and the ship just disappeared :D
i cannot for the life of me do the sticky grenade part when you get to the gondola and spawn the 6 enemies in, throw the 2 nades and stick the elite and just keep getting killed as im running back to the gondola. RNG and luck is never on my side on the speedruns lmao.

The despawn does not work in co-op and I’ve already done most of the other levels in co-op :(
The despawn has been tweaked slightly by accident in a patch. Once you kill all the enemies (4 jackal snipers and 2 elites) start jumping repeatedly. This will delay the checkpoint you get. Once the phantom despawns you can stop jumping and trigger the checkpoint. For some reason, getting that checkpoint causes the phantom to not despawn. Jumping prevents checkpoints because the game won't give them to you while you're falling ;)

Do you know if the 3 hour run counts solo and co-op? I have heard it has to be all solo or all co-op, not a mix
