I think I got this idea from a Jordan Rudess' video I saw online years ago. It is very similar to what you are doing here. I recorded a simple backing track, maybe just one chord, for example A minor. Initially, improvise creating a melody with just one note (avoiding the root and the fifth). For example the minor 3rd. Try to be as creative as possible within those limitations. Then keep going improvising with only two notes (example: minor 3rd and minor 7th). Then take it to another level and improvise with three notes (example: minor 3rd, 7th and 6th). At this point you should be able to come up with something really interesting. You get the idea. Of course, you then can expand the exercise using a chord progression, instead of just one chord, but following the same principle. That helped me to get to know the fretboard better, to be very creative with very little, to improvise better, and it helped me to realize that you only really need a few notes to make a beautiful melody.
@@0ussama01 let's say you're playing over A minor. For example you are only going to use C, which is the minor third of Am. Find every C on the fretboard and try to come up with something, just improvise. You won't be able to come up with an actual melody because you'll only be playing one note, C. You'll have to rely on rhythm and your creativity. But that's the idea.
My brother Augustus/Gus helped pre-produce your last album. I had never heard of your solo career... Since my brother showed me your music, I've been hooked... Gus was proud of playing the role he could with you. Gus also said he liked and respected you Kiko... I'm a fan for life... Much love.

Brazilian.... I have to say its really close to al dimeola playing.... Kiki is on that level... God bless you 🙏 For everything kiko!!!!!
Eu acho ue essa foi uma das suas melhores ideias de aula, não tirando o mérito das outras claro porém, essa ideia de explorar toda músicalidade de pequenas progressões é bem interessante ... ai sim KIKO
I came from "resumo da semana" haha. Improvising only with triads is very difficult. I've listened to Chorinho. This kind of music helps my ears to recognize triads as natural as scales. Great video, Kiko!
What a great exercise, and you're right, it's not easy, but I love this kind of thing / challenge because it forces me to be creative. Thank you kind sir, and I hope you and yours are well..🤟💖🤟💖🤟💖🤟
Thats how you study jazz standards, pretty much. Lots of hard work and find places all over the neck ! That cadence is similar (almost equal) to Minor Swing :) and many more songs i supose
"Oops...I put the seventh here..but it sounds good..." You gotta love Kiko. This is very classically influenced, flamenco, also Rumba follow triads like that. And Mary Friedman is a master of using Triads to imply chords progressions while soloing....
When you start playing... demonstrating triads after chords... then i imagine Gary Moore starting playing ‘The messiah will come again’ on Greeny straight on a crank’d soldano.
Loureiro, és grande e de boa qualidade para tempero musical. Obrigado por partilhares com os terráqueos a sabedoria de um músico com as muitas horas a tocar em grandes palcos na companhia dos melhores músicos do planeta. Loureiro, you are great guitarrist. Thank you for sharing with earthlings the wisdom of a musician with many hours playing on great stages in the company of the best musicians on the planet.
Probably Kiko & Felipe are the kindest people in a hard web-life :) Really it’s a pleasure to see a such absolutely friendly things after tons of shit in real life and web. Thank you for all that you do.
This is super smart guidance. Kiko I work toward greater understanding of the notes and to understand the minor and major chords that develop from any given key. The music is always inspirational!

This should be the top comment.
Thanks for the tips btw.
Best comment indeed
Thanks!
Help me out guys, I can seem to understand his comment.
Especially the "first create a melody *with 1 note* "
What do you mean by 1 note ?

Soundtrack for Desperado 3. Sounds Spanish/Andalusian because of G# in E Major so there is that harmonic minor flair because A is the tonic.
