great video man I needed this
Now you doing just that.
1:22 Kiko:" So lets say you saw a *cool* *guitar* *player* play some arpeggio with string skipping"
1:46 : Kiko plays an Emin7 arpeggio with string skipping...
I see what you did there Sir...
Amazing video btw
lool
I was gonna say...
I want to play guitar really well but I just don't have the hair.
Hysterical!
I have the hair, but only got 3 guitars, so I will never succeed LOL
Me neither bro
You , Marty Friedman randy Rhodes Kirk Hammett Steve vai and Eddie Van Halen are my guitar Gods !! U rock man I love dystopia y’all should come out with a new record 🤘🤘
Wow! Thanks to put me on this list
New record with Randy? That's weird.
@@Vic-f1t bruh
@@Vic-f1t eddie van halen too
how can you like Kiko and kirk hammett at a same time? Kirk is shit! is he have only one good guitar solo?
awesome stuff dude!! I definitely need to focus on more practicing!
thanks!!
who doesnt :D
I play, been playing for 15+ years. I'd be a damn god if practiced all those years
same here..
Thank you for waking me up. I've lost some years with making no any progress, and because of your video I've done more steps forward during last week than I did last year. Just by switching off all but my AXE and headphones/speakers only. Just focusing and slowing down helped a lot. No computer/phone/youtube/backingtracks/facebook, ect. No any distractions. It's not easy to practise this way, it feels like making step back at the beginning, but it's not step back, it's just seeing mistakes I've been doing, but I didn't see before. Practice time is a time to face it, and a time to face feeling like I'm not that good as I thought so, but this is the only way to move forward, isn't it? :) Thank you!
That right there has been always my struggle, the feeling that you are stepping become, but it is actually a delusion, you are absolutely correct, it is actualy improving. thanks man, appreciate it you had shared
My favorite takeaway from this video is take a little bit of time to practice, and then go play without being analytical of your playing
You are quickly becoming one of my favorite guitar players. You break it down so different people with various skill level can understand and apply. Thank you. Would love to see a video of alternate tunings and how to understand their relationships.
Very useful video Kiko, really helpful! Looking forward to more tips like this!
This is great stuff, fantastic teacher. More of the lessons videos! Thank you!
Thanks!!
Your advices are very good. That's good to see gog guitarists like you doing instructional videos and communicating with other with less skills. That's one of the few good things of the modern era.
*Marty Friedman created the best Megadeth solos and Kiko plays them perfectly. Respect !*
Chris Poland* created the best solos.
Politically Incorrect cough... Chris Poland...cough...
"conquer or die" to me is the absolute best
Probably Kiko as Mustaine has said one of the most technical guitarrist to play in Megadeth but what i like the most in Kiko´s playing is the ability to play Metal ,Rock, Fusion and Brazilian styles that he´s so prolific in. One of the Best in or out of Megadeth his path is set to be with gratest.
And above all he´s Brazillian not American or British or whatever and i hope he can bring from his Brazillian roots something interesting to the whatever style he´s playing.
Kiko since Megadeth doesn’t play most songs from Peace Sells anymore can you pull of Chris Poland’s solos in Good Mourning/Black Friday?
Practice is Practice! Playing is Playing!
Don't play around when it comes to practicing!
Stay 'tuned' for more puns!
@@loganknez3982 do you play or do you practice..........
.......what you preach?
So you mean while I'm playing I should stop practicing?
Because I suspect the other guys hate that.
And Brexit means Brexit.
Thanks for the great advice
Valeu KIKO!!!!!
Add that stuff in your own/upcoming album. Really great sounding.
Despite the excellent mood, patience and detailed examples, it does not matter if the teacher is a rockstar... a class is always a class: tiring, boring and requiring attention and will.
I love these practice videos. I have learned a lot from them. You are very gracious with you time and talent. All the best!
You're awesome thank you for this nice video 🤘🏼👍🏻
I was playing along with backing tracks and mistook that for practicing. I was not getting better. What helped me was learning hard solos and songs from my favorite bands and artists.
That is the best guitar practice advice I've ever seen...Thanks!
Kiko what are you practicing at your level?
Long Trang Sweep picking at 1,000 BPM
witchcraft certainly and how to play with the power of the mind
Kiko pls respond to this question 😂 i wonder
Well he certainly has to practice what he already can to stay on the same level, but he could practice anything. There's a million different ways to play guitar, so there's always something new to learn.
Chords C,D,E,F,G,A,B
Thank you Kiko for explaining all of this in a very simple way. Actually there is a very thin line between practicing and playing. And I always used to skip it. This video is very helpful.
Could you please do another video on how can I become better at lead guitar playing if I only know scales?
I’ll sure start to practice a bit more, also learning that cool arpeggio
Thanks you Master Mr Kiko , for the time to teaching us,,
Another very informative advice.... thank you Kiko. More power to you!!!!
Thanks Kiko for your beatiful lessons!! I play the guitar
I've been playing for 10 years now and always i listen your advices!! Some months ago i went to your clinic in Verona and i asked you what are the most important exercises for improve in alternate picking, string skipping, sweep ecc you told me the most important thing is: play very slow and listen where you wrong and focus on it and keep practice !!! Yeah im doing ! Thanks again Kiko :)
Kiko u rock man, u're such a legend....and such a nice guy
What a humble guy he is! Respect! Please do more this kind of video..
Thanks for the knowledge sir kiko..
Great lesson Kiko, keep them coming!
Good one bro....Have seen you live in Bangalore India....2015......
Wow this lesson is gold - ty so much !! God Bless
Glad it was helpful!
Salve ai.
Excelente abordagem
Abraços e bends
@Mateus P. Neves kkk. Então Tmj. Abração
You are such an inspiration. Awesome attitude. Thank you. :)
Excelente exercício mestre
I`m going to take this advice for me, usually I just play so now, I´ll try start with some exercises and then have a complete rutine. Thank you so much!!
And how did it turn out for you?
Kiko - I grew up with Randy Rhodes and been in the music biz working with many greats for decades.
You are definitely becoming my favorite guitar player..
I appreciate your down to earth attitude and hope nothing but the best for you.
I always practice and never play, whenever I tell someone I play the guitar, they ask me to play a song and I'm like: "Yeah, I don't know any song..." XD
thanks for the lesson kiko! I appreciate your knowledge of music theory and implementation of it. I've never been one to practice if i cant figure something out i usually give up.
Hi kiko.... I would love to watch your videos using Zoom G1FOUR for practice...and your thoughts on how good it is for beginners intermediate and advanced players.......😊🙏
And your thoughts on that if Zoom G1FOUR is a great practice tool or not.
Good stuff man, thank you! Would be really interesting to know some great practice routines for beginner/intermediate guitar solo/improvising. What to practice, when and how much? I'm stuck in the pentatonic scales and don't know what I should practice in a good systematic way to master the guitar.! Thanks again! :)
You are amazing!!!
Ei ta preula, q massa q o kiko tem um canal
Nice video for the autodidacts like me. Thanks
Nice Video and very helpful, Thank you!
This video was great. I can’t wait to try this. Please, more videos on music theory. I liked how fluent you were describing the intervals.
U rock man!!! Nice video 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
.... I've been playing for over 35 years and have known many players locally and here are my thought.... if you want to improve... if you want to learn to use knew techniques when improvising... either learn a difficult solo from someone who uses this technique or... if you come up with a new technique or variation on an existing one... compose a small piece of music around this technique..... just mechanically practising won't get you anywhere in the end.... you should really only do mechanical type practice to warm up or strengthen your fingers..... otherwise you have to attach two things to your chops... emotion and timing... your licks have to spring from an emotional connection to the fretboard and they have to have a sense of timing.... melody must be a given... you should know and have felt what you're playing as you play from a musical perspective... exactly the same way you would if you were singing or humming a melody.... so the process involved is no different if you're sustaining after a bend for 8 bars or playing a bunch of arpeggios in inversions all over the neck.... it should just come out because you know what sounds like already.... and hopefully.... eventually.... they magic of mutation occurs.....your brain takes one idea and then blends it with another... then your sweeping and tapping together... string skipping pentatonics... doing all kinds of weird things...
but never discount theory... it will open up different dimensions to your playing.... like modal theory and chord substitution it can take one scale or chord.... and turn it into a plethora of sounds without you having to use any mental gymnastics or physically change what you are doing....
in essence... when you play... learn a complicated piece or improvise... you are learning....
Obrigado!!
Nice to see you... thanks. Been watching you since 2005 "young guitar". Its been an inspiration till now. Wish you all the best! Hugs!
Excellent lesson Kiko! Will try to implement this way of practicing.
greetings from Argentina
Not about guitar, this is essential for learning anything!
Practicing is playing something your not comftorable with. Something that actually improves your playing.
I have 8 years playing the guitar and always do that, pretend that playing was practice, I have now 2 months practicing amd once I finished, start to play, and maaan, the improving is amazing, you are totally correct
Procure no RUclips por (Steve Vai guitar lesson - deeper than technique). Flw
I understand what yall saying but we're talking about PRACTICE!!!~Allen Iverson
fyi, i practiced john petrucci solos forever when i was a kid. like Under a Glass moon and Take the Time..... Pull me Under..... Erotomania.... basically everything off Awake and Images and Words. When i encountered 2 note per string licks like this one, they just kicked my ass. even now after years and years, i still can't play them the way Kiko is. That is, unless i start with an up stroke! I practiced this so long starting with a down stroke and it just never clicked. One day, i accidentally started the lick wrong (with and up stroke) and it just felt completely natural. I literally did not have to practice it and could just play it. Now saying "not practice" is a bit incorrect because all those 6 note per string licks (16th note triplets) that Petrucci does (Metropolis part 1or Take the Time) that I ripped on for years.... they all move to a new string on an up stroke :O which is why the two note per string licks feel so natural starting on an up stroke. I noticed the same thing with chromatic 4 note per string licks. Starting with a down stroke just train wrecks for me. Starting with an up, i don't even have to try. Let me know if this tip helps anyone :)
Salve Kiko! !!!! Excelentes dicas! !!!! Abraços! \m/🎸👍
Very helpful video, thanks Kiko.
Can you do a video about your right hand? Position, angle, movement, etc? Do you use also the thumb combined with the wrist movement?
Thanks again
Yeah, agree!
Great idea!!
Just use your ears people! IF you have " it " ???? ( it meaning, you were born with the musicianship inside of you ) Then " it " will come!!! just keep playing and using your ears.... THEORY WILL STOP YOU FROM CONNECTING WITH YOUR INNER MUSICIAN! Music is Audio, Not intellectual...... ( AND all the greatest musicians played by ear! ) That should say all there is to say about theory....
Great video! I love it , really gets your fingers moving.
As far as future videos I'd love to see some lick breakdowns from your solo on Conquer or Die. Keep on rockin man \m/
The interesting thing for me here is how his English *catches on* after five minutes talking.
Very simple lesson... very relevant lesson/tips !!!!! Thank's, Kiko!
This was very clear..and helps us to organize our practices better...! It helped a lot!
My whole problem...too much effort in the fret hand...being more efficient and with a lighter feel...great lesson.
You have to practice many techniques to be able to play electric guitar well. Thanks, Kiko Loureiro.
Congratulations kiko, you make a great contribution sharing things that some years ago nobody shared.
Let me ask you some questions:
*What do you think about music in Mexico?
*Do you know Mexican metal bands?
*What do you think is the fault with the Mexican metal?
* What do you think of Carlos Santana?, here in Mexico always ignored and branded as an alcoholic, when he went to the USA his talent was recognized even with gramy.
Regards and congratulations, you are a great Musician
hello Kiko, what was your solution for hitting a speed plateau when you where a kid beginning with your shred journey...cheers...
Hi Kiko! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! How do you build an improvisation over chords? Feeling and ears and /or hardthinking an counting the beat? Thanks, cheers :)
same her,,im focus for just to get my finger moving,,and triads,,but like this arrpegios are great practise,,thanks🎸
Kiko you are a great professor as well other than being one of the best axemen.. Very articulate instructions.. Obrigado..
kiko kiko kiko kiko kiko kiko can you make a tutorial of endangered species ...???? and break the song in parts?
Started playing 10 years ago. Never was a practice guy, but now its getting obvious that Im not good enough for myself (this is important , for yourself !!!) So time to practice hahaha
Loved it .. Unfortunately I have to stop practicing and spend these last days playing ..
Perfect educational video. The way you explain things makes me feel better about playing, thanks.
Additionally, your face looks like your jawline should have been finished earlier but god added some extra play-dough on the sides at the last minute -- hence the deep dimples.
Very good advice, great video. If you aren’t trying to solve problems, you won’t really progress. It takes lots of concentrated time and deconstruction of your playing.
One of the best masterclass I've ever came across on RUclips. You have to continue making more tutorial classes like this Kiko.. and this time practicing and playing , you came up with a good concept brother.. Have a nice day !! Greetings from India 👍 -James
Thanks!!
Hi Kiko,I have an undersized fourth finger that begins to " act up" when trying to execute heavy workload like a five or six fret stretch...I have altered some patterns on the fretboard so that the bulk of the workload is on fingers one two and three...do you know of any other tricks/hints?
Kiko, you know how useful is this for beginners or intermediate player. Is always good to find someone who plays in important bands that give some useful advices. Thanks!
Kiko Loureiro, Alex Lifeson, and Randy Rhoads are the best guitar players ever in my opinion🤘🎸
He makes a great point. I practice any technique that I find difficult. I'll just repeat it over and over, day after day until the nervous system starts to respond. I spend most of my time doing that. It sounds boring, right? But I've seen the difference. Beethoven's dad knew about this.
As an improviser,I tend to paly what I practice and practice what I play until there's no clear distinction between the two. Thanks for the heads up and the nice licks!
It's really helpful, I'd like to know, What are the basis to become a jazz guitarist?
Being an amazing guitar player does not mean being an amazing guitar teacher. Kiko is both.
Great video, which actually makes sense! I like the way you explain your thought process.
Yes I need to practice more to incorporate more techniques and music theory, I play a lot but am not going anywhere with my pentatonic scale boxes. Recently started to learn scales like the E Phrygian Dominant
I want that bloody green flame sexy guitar of Kiko 😜😜😜
Hey Kiko,,,would love to learn intervals from you.
Plz Kiko do it,,, loots of love from Nepal 🤘🇳🇵
Sometimes we play out so much I don't practice very much everything is still all packed up lol but i am enjoying your videos keep up the good work
Thanx Mr Mustaine for giving the guitar WORLD, KIKO 👍
