funny thing is, faker was the one to first start doing this, playing random picks in mid, then he started to make a personal meta in order to help the team better using tanks and supports mid. Doinb was able to do what faker couldn't do. But the whole meta of the game was much different years ago.

@@yummychips_ faker did it but with fairly meta picks at the time (at least in actual pro games). 2017, with his heavy af team, faker went galio most of the time just to give them support. the main difference was... SKT in 2017 simply didn't have the breadth of talent that FPX has. that team legit broke his back so hard... but doinb is in a class of his own, even when it comes to "supportive" mid lane picks. he doesn't go for just pure hard roam mid picks like galio/ryze/taliyah... he seems to be most comfortable with melee bruisers for some reason. if tian/crisp gets a successful gank for doinb, the enemy team is basically on a timer for a double/triple gank. the tempo makes it really difficult for any team to draft any form of "safe scaling" vs FPX, since that lane will almost 100% be abused. it is the execution of tian/crisp that fully enables doinb, unlocking the full potential of his playstyle. also, he's not even that bad of a laner. even with bruisers, he consistently keeps up in cs, usually not falling too far behind. if analysts bothered to watch some of his LPL games, they'd know he's a very competent mid laner, just with extra dark tech in his pocket.

DoinB seems to go agains the typical midlaner meta, but his playstyle does have it's merit: The typical midlaner snowballs in strength and becomes the spearhead for an attack, carrying the rest of the team. DoinB instead uses the fact the the midlaner is the middle lane to support everyone else and instead of being the spearhead, being the backup/support for the rest of the lanes in order to make plays throughout the board that can put the team as a whole ahead. What I like about the competitive scene of League is that it really evolves. No one saw this kind of gameplay coming and that threw off the meta in Worlds. Though again, because the league is constantly evolving, their method isn't working anymore. FPX sadly didn't even reach Round 2 of LPL playoffs. They won't be defending their world Title since they're not making it in Worlds.
Like I always try to tell my friends, there is always a way to break gaming metas. It may not be easy, but it is possible and that goes for literally any game. Just takes practice and extensive understanding of that game being played. Even deeper than the boring "oh, well this seemed to work.. guess this is life now" there are a lot of times where unconventional picks beat the meta just because they are hardly played, so opponents aren't fully prepared for the back pocket trump cards.
nonsense m he's really good at realising stuff about micro mistakes, but forgets that the game goes on for 30-40 minutes instead of 1-10 minutes of laning. he is so caught up with small mistakes, that he forgets its a 5 man team lol
Jin Song LS is religiously fanatic to all theoretical idea. Don’t fight when u are ahead, dead ass farming hyper carry mid etc. In many occasions he is right, tho he always forget about the human factor. He call people out from making mistake when 99% of people will make that mistake if they are in the same scenario (and also the reason why LS himself isn’t high elo). I feel like the kind of enjoyable game for LS would be literally 10 AI playing the game. Dead ass boring and game ends at BP stage cuz they r 10 AI.
@@GGWP-gm5cq it's not even about "human factor" in this case... the LPL simply has a very different paradigm (or "theory") about playing league. they talk about tempo and teamfighting 500% more than every other region (except maybe VCS). the problem isn't that LS is too theoretical - it's he's too inflexible to realise his analysis may be lacking. and that is rather fatal for someone whose job is to analyse pro play. how can an LCK stan still not understand LPL fundamentals after IG smoked them in 2018? if LS said that pre-IG, sure... give him a pass. but IG already showed that the LPL paradigm CAN WORK, and can work beautifully. if you're really into lol pro scene, do yourselves a favour and watch some LPL highlights. you will realise how far behind the curve most other regions are. p.s.: actual LCK coaches have already started reviewing LPL plays a lot more closely, but are still figuring out how to respond/integrate those ideas. having some korean LPL coaches/players back in korea is also helping somewhat; but it seems old habits die hard.
What u want is someone to cheer for you someone who will always support you in whatever you do And then you get that overpowered moment where you will win at anything
This reminds me of when I lost 2 fights in a row and was ready to quit. My wife came in clutch gave me some encouragement and I haven’t lost since. Nothing more beautiful than a wife supporting her man I love to see it 😁
"Not a lot of people thought FPX can win worlds" FPX lost only 1 game in the summer split (14-1), in one of the best regions in the world !!! They were favorites from the beginning. Analysts surrender to the G2 hype and messed up big time.
it was the first time playing at worlds for all 5 players. Jitters are expected. They were literally the least experienced team. Even some of the LMS teams and GAM had at least one player who had been to worlds before. All 5 FPX players went into groups with 0 games played on the international stage. And they became champions on their first visit. The group stage was used to play themselves into form, which athletes do too in the early rounds. They peaked when it mattered, which is playoffs. When that golden state warriors super team was assembled, their very first game was a humbling 29 point defeat. Did that make them a shit team? No, they won the championship that year.
15:51 Funny, because that's how DRX just beat T1 yesterday in Worlds finals. All odds against DRX initially, they became the first team to go from play-ins to winning worlds. I think DRX needs a documentary like this now too.
When you look at the result and look back at the group stage, I am thinking maybe group B was not a bad group at all or it is a very good group since the beginning. It's just our impression of LMS's performance as a whole in recent years and the performance of third EU seed(usually they can't get out of their group) make us think group B should be the easiest group. Both JT and SPY were very good teams, If they were in other groups, the top two seeds from other groups might choke as well, Spy also defeated SKT one game in the quarters. I believe those analysists(especially those who kept making wrong prediction youtube videos) really need to do more work later in S10 since their 'profession' predictions go wrong very often these years. I believe they need to know the teams much better, watch more vods and do a better job.
Yeah especially when most of them they also predicted fnc would win last yeah yet fnc got wiped. Two years in a row... they really should stop being biased and be more professional
@@aidenlin2817 This worlds I agree the predictions sounded a bit baised, but then again G2 were the MSI champions and beat SKT which was also considered one of the favourites and even though at worlds Korea didn't do great they had won the Rift Rivals that year, so i guess people had the impression that the LCK is stronger than the LPL. But in 2018 FNC and IG were in the same group and FNC did manage to beat them 2 our of 3 times there, so I don't think it's fair to call it bias when people assumed it can happen again in the finals. Just because they got the predictions wrong doesn't mean they have something against the other team, sometimes you can't know what will happen until teams actually play each other. I mean in 2019 MSI semis freaking TL managed to beat IG 3-1 and literally nobody predicted that either, should we say the analysts were biased then as well?
Thats why they are called prediction, and not "100% THIS IS GONNA HAPPEN, I COULD NEVER BE WRONG". They go off of stats most of the times, and when stats show that one team is better than the other is just dumb to predict the opposite. Its easy for you to critisize them but if they were right and G2 ended up winning no one would really be surprised. Sometimes upsets happen, that doesnt mean analysts are biased. Besides they are predictions, i dunno why so many people get bothered with them.
Can we all just agree who ever got the half of the bracket without one of the other big three would have won finals between fpx, g2 , and skt. The rock paper scissors scenario was real between the three.
No offense but LS seems like he talks out of his ass a lot. I'm not necessarily saying he's wrong when he talks about auto attacks or wave management, but he definitely puts way too much value on those small macro details and undervalues players that are just plain good. To call DoinB, the multi time MVP from China and arguably the best player on the number 1 seed from China (the region that had won worlds previously) as one of the worst mid laners in the tournament is laughable. Just because he doesn't play the lane as well as some players doesn't mean he doesn't play the rest of the game much better.
The FPX players stream a lot and there are video reviews of their games by the players. It is laughable for LS to believe these top players don't know these laning principles and positioning etc... Like when he pointed out Broxah was leashing the wrong way. The reality might very well have been Broxah wasn't gonna gank mid when he did the Red buff. At that point of the game they were probably discussing about short term game plan, jungle pathing etc.. or one way or another decided Elise ganking mid was not likely or good play... There is just so much dynamic information that we cannot possibly know.
The funnier part is, even all this criticism torwards Doinb "laning ability"/mechanics is dumb and plain wrong. It growed bcuz it works for his haters but it also makes his "off meta player" narrative more interesting for his newer fans. But to think a guy who can lane agnst the likes of Rookie and Knight night in and night out and even win sometimes isnt a mechanical god is laughable. Its not like he is literally spending every game 99% out of his lane. U can watch games where he doesnt roam that much and he trades perfectly fine. Sure there is a mechanical gap between him and Rookie but so is there for almost every other player in the entire world. Plus theres a part of laning phase though not necessarily mechanical related that is match up knowledge. He smurfed on Rookie game 1 of the semis on Rumble vs Syndra cuz he obviously knew the match up and Rookie didnt, it was clear. LS is very knowledgeable but he seems to take every decision as individual. Like he made fun of a game where doinb shuves the 1st wave and tries roamming top lvl 1, doesnt work comes back to lane. Who knows what kinds of communication was going between him ans Gimgoob? Its just dumb. U cant analize it like its a soloq game.
@@grezende4056 Facts man. Sometimes, he just comes off as a pseudo intellectual to me. Sir Melody this is why I find it weird when there are news of people reporting people who does off meta but still winning.
Most of it is in NA this is why their the shit region stagnant plays can’t think for themselves.
Yeah.... I think because they're too focused on "Official Meta & Playstyles".... While ignoring how to find their own meta & playstyles....
That's the point. People play off meta because it's not as predictable as other match ups, and people play meta because it's optimal and is more consistent.
They played super meta macro tho (jg/mid duo super active on the map with lots of quick skirmishes where you quickly hard commit to fights before the other team can collapse). Just with some odd picks that kind of went all in on that playstyle. Meta is more than the champs you play

They made it to worlds. Seems like the statement is true
@@youtubesucks1885 where is g2's summoner's cup??
best moment was when they almost left the stage 1 minute after lifting the cup and every crew member of the event ran to stop them XD
Here because FPX are readying their fiery wings again. Let's GO Summer 2021
My second most favorite team (SKT is first). They are just so fun to watch, their team plays, picks and all.
Nemesis: he's the worst mid.
*Loss cass 0/5 against 9/0 ryze* LOL
There's some cruel irony in this video being recommended to me after Worlds 2021....
Can we all just agree who ever got the half of the bracket without one of the other big three would have won finals between fpx, g2 , and skt. The rock paper scissors scenario was real between the three.
these are the videos why i love your channel.
I mean, he knows the niche things about league, but his analysis always has some bias no matter how "objective" he tries to make it. He is quick to point out how poorly someone did X if he doesn't like the player, but if someone he already has a predisposed liking for (such as Faker) does something unorthodox and "wrong", he would hastily justify their actions. So easy for him to just talk out of his ass, and people listen to it because he is/sounds knowledgeable most of the time.
@@whereswaldo1376 LS is like a politician. He can say 1000 words while not saying anything. Just bloated jargon that harps on things of little meaning to make himself sound intelligent.
They weren't underdogs they were literally one of the overwhelming favorites coming into worlds and just played shitty early on in groups.
Underdog means ppl have low expectation for them to win.
months passed away and still watching this😊not a fan of FPX but i love how they're respond against their haters
And here we are 1 year later , FPX lose the first play-offs game and don't even make Worlds . A one-year miracle
still miracle
TPA winning worlds was also a 'miracle'.
Highly improbable things always happen to events like Worlds. And those moments being only a "one-time thing" (per moment of course) doesn't take anything away from its value and meaning. It could be just a time when they played out of their minds and had such a good time and it'll still be glorious.
