Lindy telling Don how good of a job he’s doing and that RJ will be with him all year… wow that hit hard. And saying he regrets never giving RJ that Stanley Cup call…

Jim Lorentz has to be the 3rd legendary broadcaster. Man his voice is something special and I hated it when he retired. Him and RJ were the best to listen too growing up as a kid in Buffalo. They made hockey special with their calls

I totally agree. I have a special place for Lorentz, as my late Father (he's been gone 33 years now) used to ALWAYS tell my brothers and I "Watch out for Lorentz, he's getting a goal or two tonight" - LOL, I have NO idea why he latched on to Jim like that, but it's always stuck with me - and more often than NOT, he did. I loved him as a player and also VERY much as a broadcaster, and he and RJ were perfect together.

The best color commentator in the biz. Broke down a play like no other. Good to see him there.

Some of the most memorable moments of my child hood & life in general include this mans voice. I also skated on my pond as a kid, pretended I was a Sabre & called the game as I thought Rick would. Thank you RJ. For your passion for the game, for the Sabres and for BUFFALO. I can only hope that you were aware you played a role in countless young players pursuing their dream to play this game.

Blessed to be a buffalo fan and to hear Rj on the t.v. or at the games. He is the only voice I knew my whole life watching and listening to the sabres ❤❤❤❤❤

Rest in peace RJ, from a New Jersey Devils fan. You truly were one of the best and I had a habit of seeking out watching the Sabres home feeds just to have the chance to potentially hear one of your iconic calls when watching hockey games. You, Doc Emrick, and Gary Thorne have always been my personal favorites.

It didn't come to mind until now, I told my daughter listen and picture how he's calling the game like scooping the puck. And it made it come to life for her because we always listen to the game. I took her to her first sabres I could watch that again especially after hearing Rick call the games

While there is no doubt that I will die a Sabres fan. It will NEVER be the same without RJ! The Sabres and RJ are synonymous. Its like you can't think of one without the other. The ONE THING he deserved more than any Sabre in history in my opinion was a Stanley Cup. There is nothing more I wanted more for him before he left us than that! If he had gotten that, I think we would all feel better about him truly resting in peace.

I am tremendously honored that my brother and I got to be in the video for RJ Night at the 1 minute 52 second mark.
Rick was simply the greatest of all time. He is the Wayne Gretzky of hockey play by play announcers. His legend will live forever.

    - the man - Rick taught me the game I was born in 1994 and and my dad tells me that even as a baby in a dead sleep when the game would come on and I’d hear his voice I’d wake right up from then on I learned the rules of the game he also taught me about the game within the game it wasn’t just about all the iconic calls while he was painting those masterpieces he was also explaining a lot of the time what it meant to be a hockey player and the way he lived taught you what it meant to love your club to respect and love the guy next to you on the bench that your team was in fact your family he was family his voice was heard more than my own grandfather in a way he was like a grandfather to me by teaching me about the game we all love he taught me alot about life and how to be a good man I couldn’t thank him enough for that but if I ever get to see him in heaven I will do my best to try if there is one thing I could would want to say to this years sabers team I’d say do it for R.J because he’d want you to do it for the sabers when your skating or about to throw a check or take a shot or making a save hear him in your ear making that call because he’s with you forever embedded in the logo of this team no matter what one you wear do it for R.J we as saber fans love this team we love that man and we want the best night in and night out like he asked of himself if ranted long enough I miss him alot if anyone reads this thank you for your time and let’s go Buffalo !
