To all of us buffalo kids, RJ was like a grandfather to our whole city. When the sabs make the playoffs this year, I will inevitably be losing my mind, but the thing we’ll all be thinking is “I wish RJ was calling the game”
@@krakhedd Allen gave us some good moments but I grew up from a young little kid into being an adult with RJ tbh it's not that close but if Allen brings us SB then I'll give it to him lol
I have a copy of the now-defunct _Hockey Stars_ magazine. He was listed under one of the best things in hockey in 1995-6. Its first paragraph: Buffalo Sabres announcer Rick Jeanneret looks like Rodney Dangerfield.... Hands down, Jeanneret is the best TV play-by-play man in the NHL and he's so far ahead of the rest that there's no second best.
Its how i will always see him. I used to think he looked like Rodney Dangerfield. I remember the vhs ticket holders used to get back in the day. Rj would narrate it and do the intros with the buzz cut and suspenders.
I once sent a girl a pic of RJ dressed as Frankenstein and the conversation somehow evolved in her coming over for “hockey and chill”. True story. Thank you RJ.
@@jayem1826 I'm just saying that the 70s were filled with fun guys. And the fun gets better when the grandsons join the league. 'Cause the young lad who wears 78 for Carolina is related to Lorentz.
Smiling watching this. RIP
I’m not even a Sabres fan, but I had immense respect for Rick. We all miss him. 💔
Thanks RJ! & Ray!
Don't forget Jim Lorentz since he's in these early clips.

RIP Rick you were awesome
Dude was HILARIOUS!
RJ is the best thing to happen to Buffalo in the whole city’s history.
Josh Allen is a close 2nd! ;P

Dominik Hasek is a close 2nd
RJ reminds me of Rodney Dangerfield. They both have a great sense of humor! Always a pleasure hearing him call a game. He's the best!

Im going to miss him so much. Sabres hockey just won't be the same without him calling the games :'(
Agreed.....
The suspenders and buzzcut were my fave!

Same with Pat, Dennis & Steve.
Rob Ray's RJ impression will never not be golden.
Need to store that tape on the top shelf, where Mama hides the cookies!
"before Hamilton and Harrington get there" lmaoo
Just what we need during this trying time.
RJ new the key to success was don't be too serious. Thank you for the memories!
Lorentz was great at all 3 ends. Offensively, defensively and at the Mic
Did you know he lost to Bill Clement in 75?
@@dannythomas417 Of course. So?

EA Sports needs to make this man an offer lol
I'd get NHL 22 if they had him announcing the games
