Growing up it was always Briere, Dumont, Peters, Campbell and the goaltender Ryan Miller. Its great to see his banner hanging from that arena next to RJ. Hopefully the next banner raising ceremony will be a Stanley Cup banner.

Glad he got elected to Hall of Fame quickly. He deserved it as he played so much of his career with just not so good teams. I can't imagine what his record would have been if he had played for a top team(s) for most of his career.

As a person who has been a Sabres fan for 30 years, (Ill be 34 this year), I feel tremendously privileged to have been able to watch my team have the greatest goalie in NHL history in The Dominator, but also arguably the greatest American goalie ever. Not to mention the voice of hockey to multiple generations in WNY the legendary RJ.

As someone who grew to honor this man throughout so many moments. It was such a privilege to be here for this night and celebration. From your moments at Joe Louis Arena, the cold War game and the beginning and ending of one of the greatest college goaltenders to ever wear the pads and to do it in michigan (Michigan State University). It was these moments that made you someone I inspired to follow. You made me switch from a Michigan wolverine fan to a Sparty fan. In Munn ice arena, (east Lansing) there is no one who will wear #39 like you did. Nobody that can even come close in college hockey. Every time I make my visit to East Lansing I always tell my fiance, yep this is the hometown of where a United States legend was raised. After college you went to to Buffalo. I cannot imagine going from a market like Michigan to Buffalo and the change it was. On top of that knowing that Dom had left and the Sabres were dying for a new franchise goaltender. You watched as the Sabres went through the struggles. You still stuck with it and played in this small market area. Buffalo is my second home, Michigan is always #1 however, Buffalo became another home. Then you help create the most historical and greatest Sabres team to ever play in 05-06. As unfortunate the series loss was. it began the beginning of your NHL legacy. You created a beautiful foundation to help support and help those patients in need from. Illeness. To those who don't know about the steadfast foundation please look into it! From the years in Buffalo you took a city and created a bond that you can't walk anywhere without someone thanking you. I always loved going to the Joe when drew and you played against each other and your momma having the split shirt. It always made me laugh, because I can't imagine what that was like, but to know that her two boys are playing at such a high level. When they showed both of your families reaction when you stopped drew on the breakaway of course I was screaming in joy and saying nice save Millsie! However, I can't imagine the memories that must bring and the love it brings as a family. Then came the biggest moment of your career, the Olympics. You were so close and just so close to doing that what only Dom hasek did and that was bring a team a gold medal by superb and perfect goaltending. I use to go to school and people would come up to me saying holy **** that was insane! You created memories by people who didn't even watch hockey in Michigan and made it even more special because you are from there. You rallied an entire nation around you and that team. An entire nation chanting USA, USA, USA. Ryan your contributions to all of buffalo and to USA hockey will never go unnoticed. Thank you sir for all that you gave and more importantly helped the Sabres to be a force year in and year out. You went to Vancouver your first year and led them To the playoffs. Nobody was expecting that but you helped accomplished that! I miss watching you play, I miss following other teams other than Buffalo just to see how well you were still performing. The Moments coming into a shootout when gibby got hurt and you get the win. You always were so focused and ready to go at any point. I'll never forget all of Joe Louis Arena giving you a standing ovation and I'm sure Zetterberg was even watching last night saying he definitely was a goalie who absolutely gave it his all. Your diving save was unbelievable! That's only one of so many and not including 1 of the top ten greatest saves of all time against Boston. I just remember wearing a Canucks jersey and seeing all these fans in red and white giving you a standing ovation. It didn't matter where you went. Your respect was earned everywhere. What better place to do what you did than in your hometown and hearing Detroit fans cheering for you again. I thanked so many people and had so many people after the game come up to me and say holy **** what a save! Thank you Ryan for all that you gave everyday to not only the game, but for what you did off the ice. Thank you for inspiring me as a goaltender to never give up and as a person to pay attention to those in need. I try to carry it in my profession as a medical worker and always show compassion, respect and care. You showed all these things to the entire city of Buffalo, vancouver, and Anaheim. God be with you and your beautiful family. I hope one day if I have a son I can be just like your father and help my children become exactly the type of man you are. I hope my children become inspiring, motivational, and give back to their community as you have so many times. Again God be with you and thank you so much for every single moment of so many memories.
