It was so great that he paid respects to Demitra and Boogaard. Koivu is such a wonderful person!

Mikko Koivu was such an inspiration and role model for me growing up in Minnesota and playing hockey. His work ethic and the way you could tell he was invested into each and every game no matter the result really gave a positive role model for many young players. I know I for one tried to mimic that work ethic and investment in my game and it led to me being a strong team player and leader among the teams I was on. I am very glad to see that he is honored for everything he has given not only the Wild, but the State of Minnesota and the fans that were able to put their hopes of a franchise on his shoulders and he was willing to bear the burden.

16:48 “That’s not going to fix his slice.”
Haha! Chirping him even at his number retirement! You got to love it!

    He was always underrated.
Not a superstar but definitely one you'd want in your team.
A leader, warrior, decent guy with very good skills in the defensive zone and could chip in points.
His brother surely was flashier, but Mikko had a very good career on his own.
