  • Two Class 375s in old Southeastern livery stop at Sturry station, heading to Canterbury West and Minster respectively. This crossing is on the main A28 road just outside of Canterbury. This is the third of three crossings on the entire A28; the other two being gates operated by hand on the Kent & East Sussex Railway. As this is the main road, the platforms are staggered as to not cause any more congestion than is necessary. It took 5 minutes to cross the road to get to the other side of the crossing. The barriers are very old here, and are still controlled by the Signalbox adjacent to the crossing. Traffic can build up tremendously though, so I'm surprised that any plans for a bypass have not been put forward. This can be a notorious bottleneck at some times, being the main east west road through Canterbury, with a massive junction right next to the crossing here. Good work Kent County Council (sarcasm).
