A level crossing found on the A28 within the village of Sturry, a few miles to the east of Canterbury in Kent. The road which this level crossing is located on is incredibly busy with road traffic, and long queues of traffic quickly form on all the level crossing's approaches when the barriers are lowered. This means that it is incredibly difficult to safely cross the road here whilst the barriers are raised. Despite this, both of the rather old-looking alarms here are quiet, possibly too quiet given the relatively frequent amount of pedestrian usage which this level crossing sees. Each of the four barriers here is rather old-looking despite newer barrier arms, and the signal box next to this level crossing still controls it from on site to the day of filming.
Both of Sturry Station's platforms are staggered around the level crossing as to prevent the barriers remaining lowered whilst the train stops in the station, but as can be seen, any trains longer than four carriages overhang the level crossing increasing the time period for which the barriers are lowered back to what it would roughly be if the platforms were the other way around here. Recent (to the time of filming) proposals to bypass this level crossing had been rejected and it continues to be guilty of all traffic problems on this section of the A28 (the arterial route between Canterbury and Thanet) and on the surrounding main roads.
The station's hourly service is seen in this video, with two stopping trains overhanging the platforms onto the level crossing and two high-speed non-stop trains also making an appearance. The level crossing was raised and lowered four times. Apologies if the audio in part of the third clip has been quietened quite a lot as this was due to loud music being played from a nearby vehicle.
    Thanks for watching!
