I've been playing the AG version of these since April. This is one of my favorite boots ever. The best part for me is that when I put them on, they disappear. No foot pain, no stud pressure, no weird squeezing on foot or toes and no dead spots. It really feels like I'm not wearing anything, which is great most of the time, except when I get stepped on.
@@chpagnepel I've played with the AG version on both AG and FG. On AG which it's perfect even in wet conditions. On a sloppy FG pitch with some mushy spots it did pretty well, but the relly wet spots it didn't quite have enough grip.
I had to go a whole size down. I use a size US 11 in Vapors. I got these exact black Alphas MIJ in US 10 and they fit like a glove. I’ve been obsessing over these boots 😂I’m going to get them …been watching all your videos the same videos eveyday for the past days about them …so what a nice surprise to see another review
I haven't been able to buy a pair myself, but someone told me that the AG version of the Mizuno Alpha MIJ actually lacks the karvo half-board. Instead it has the nylon half-board of the Morelias. That really bugs me if its true, because the price doesn't change. The AG version also lacks the external heel counter. That's confirmable just by looking at photos. Anyone have any idea why Mizuno thinks an AG specific soleplate shouldn't have an external heel counter? If the AG soleplate Alpha MIJ lacks the karvo, seems to me it's a bad purchase, because the studs on the normal Alpha MIJ shown in this video really aren't that bad for artificial grass, in part because the studs aren't terribly long. It's an HG soleplate in all but name.
Because while the FG soleplate "isn't bad" for AG, the AG version of the boot is solely focused on being the best version of itself on AG. Which in this case, means toning down the aggressive functional elements.
@@rousseau327 That doesn't explain or justify the subtraction of the karvo half board (if true) and the external heel counter. Those aren't elements which make the boot less suitable for AG, so far as I can tell. And the price-point is the same, so you're getting less value and performance for the same price. I'm just reiterating myself now.
@@CognizantCheddar You are reiterating yourself, but that's because you're not understanding that what I said absolutely does provide an explanation on why they removed the karvo insert and external heel counter. They want their AG boot to be less aggressive. To do that, they remove what makes the FG version aggressive. The effects of an AG surface on boots/your body isn't just the studs getting stuck. Having a stiffer soleplate and more locked in heel can absolutely contribute to discomfort on AG, where it wouldn't on softer ground. And you'll notice that I didn't respond to your point on value. Nor did I say these changes make sense for people who are only looking for a stud pattern change in their AG boots.
@@rousseau327 _"And you'll notice that I didn't respond to your point on value."_ Okay. Then, this _"Having a stiffer soleplate and more locked in heel can absolutely contribute to discomfort on AG, where it wouldn't on softer ground."_ is what you've should've led with. Thank you for clarifying. That does make sense. I think... now I'm confused now as to why Alder's boots with full-length karvo don't seem to be an issue for anyone on AG.
@@CognizantCheddar Adlers boots have classic, thick, conical studs, plus there are other differences in the upper that make it less aggressive as a package...
Thank you for great detail review. I didn’t quite get about the your sizing recommendation. I normally wear Morelia Neo Beta MIJ 7.5US. My feet are not narrow nor super wide? What would you recommend on these alpha model? Also do you feel pressure point from the studs under your feet?
Damn now I’m stuck with sizing. I went down half a size in the MN3B and yeah they were tight but more glove like in the way they break in and mould… maybe I’ll try true to size if I can find a pair!
Advice please, I’m so torn. In Morelia2 I’m US11/29cm perfect. In alpha mij ag which I really hope to have as a go to AG boot, that size is a full thumb width long but everything else perfect. Half down to 28.5/us 10.5 length has perfect amount of room, a little snug through midfoot, little flaring near heel. Not uncomfortable. Do yo think it will play out? I got them at a great price and can still return. But the larger size felt clownish. Can’t tell exactly how much extra length you’re taking, but seems similar. Just don’t know what to expect after a few sessions as far as give/moulding. Thanks Noah!
