Good simple explanation of how this lock works 👍🏼 However, not knocking you, but from a safety point I would personally prefer to have a locking mechanism from the inside. In case of an emergency in the event that you’ve forgotten to remove the lock while inside, perhaps sleeping, this lock eliminates a crucial emergency exit… may be there is another lock that’s made to use from inside.. again not knocking you personally, just my opinion. Yes I realize there are windows and a hatch but in an emergency the easiest/fastest exit would be the doors..
When you were drilling the handle, i was squinting with you hoping the metal shavings spinning around the drill bit did not hit you in the eye. Said to tell you what I'd do different. Wear Safety Glasses
Your "Awl" is actually a auto center punch, you should be able to loosen or tighten the back to adjust the divot it creates. That's a nice clean look for a back door lock, thanks for the tips Isaac.
You are so entertaining. Question. Do you leave it so you can exit from the back door in case of an emergency when you are staying overnight somewhere? Can you lock it from the inside? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks 🧘🙏🌎☮️
Looks great! Question from a safety standpoint … at night, do you remove the outer lock, so you have another working egress? What type of inner lock system would you go with?
Love these! 🔐May have to think about going this direction. I’d still love to find a good deadbolt style lock way of doing mine so that it can be unlocked from both sides.
Great How to Issac what would of made it excellent is safety glasses when drilling metal. My son is a mechanic and it was painful to have metal removed from his eye.
Hello Isaac I would love to learn more about building a bus. And you guys have talked about my hometown. Kiezer,Salem, and know Portland. I will get back there very soon lol
Just watched a guy with a deadbolt and a key lock on the outside. Someone could cut yours of with a bolt cutter. Mine has a sliding lock on the inside, but the bus won't drive with it locked. But it can be locked when I am stationary.
On market Place 1973 Winniebago brave D18 short. Gutted , product,go to move 1800 obo. Cute thing on outside with back rack. Thought let you, your friends where. Ore.
I'm thinking they only lock it from the outside when they leave the bus unattended.. lock from the inside when sleeping.. I thought that too at first. :))
Am I the only one that thinks that's not at all a bright solution? Anyone can take bolt cutters and they are in. Plus its a fire hazard you can't use it is a fire exit. Hopefully you have an emergency exit window or hatch right back there by your bed if you lock a door from the outside that can't unlock from inside. If there is some way to use it inside that would be great!
Emergency exit in the bus. Two other doors. 8 windows to choose from. That door makes no difference. Also if someone wants in. Again 8 windows. I’d go thru that before the door
This does not fit international bus bodies fyi. I just bought two and it doesn’t work you’d have to modify it at the least wood a piece of wood as a spacer and it completely doesn’t work for my side handicap door. For any one out their with a international bus
** Storage units sell some pretty cool locks. they are round and the bar is circular and slides out from inside of the lock, it's a pretty thick bar too.. yeah that didn't explain it very well but they are harder to cut off bc of the shape and thickness. Google Circular Padlock.. that will be better to see what I am trying to say... hahaha
I love all your rawness! You don’t hide your difficulties with anything and that to me is how real life is! Great job!

I agree with Bonnie. You are a natural born teacher, clear, aware of your audiences interests and always- interesting! Thanks Issac.

So many easier ways outside this bus

There are literally so many other ways to exit this bus
Looks great! Question from a safety standpoint … at night, do you remove the outer lock, so you have another working egress? What type of inner lock system would you go with?
I wouldn’t have a different lock
Love all your tips and overlook of some common issues. Much ♥️ and hugs to you Isaac. Got to go so I catch the rest in a bit ♥️♥️♥️✨😎

Old-timer Full-timer in a Japanese bus. For deburring drilled holes in metal, try using a larger size drill bit by hand. Works for me
That’s genius
Those brackets are cool!
They are!
Your so knowledgeable you should invent things patent it. So many people are into bus building. I am sure you would do very well.
Why wouldn't you lock from the inside that way you keep the back door as an emergency escape.
There is an emergency exit in the bus
How about a simple deadbolt that blocks the inside arm on the existing handle?
Done all that. Like this better
Very Informative! I learn a lot about building Skoolies from you. 💜💜💜 AuntieEllen 🤟🏽

Another great choice the best I’ve seen yet.
Same!
I’m not building a bus but you make everything look so interesting so much better than TV❤️
Well snap!
Cool l am planning on doing something like that on the inside. They have already stolen lots of fuel. Now that's locked too!

This is what I should’ve used🙃

She just posted today :)
I like this lock..Might work for u too.....ABUS 92/80 Monoblock padlock - Protected Shackle.
Oh I was looking at those
@@isaacturnerit Had one now a few years. I like it.
Dude you are a hoot
Ha ha
Only I say is that what happen if your need to get out quickly from you bus?
Windows
You go out the emergency exit. One of the two other doors or even one of 8 windows.
A friend used an L bracket from home depot. Holes on both ends.
Good idea!
Yep that's the deal. How much do those brackets cost ? 👍👏✌✌🎅🚌🌻
I think 10 bucks
As far as using Master Lock brand locks...you might want to check out the Lock Picking Lawyer's channel.

I want to just remove the entire handle system, I’m having a hard time doing that but I’d rather fashion my own knob/lock!
how about emergency if you have to get out in case of a fire.

Don't like that lock once lock is engaged you can't exit from in side in case of an emergency

Couldn't you just replace the handle with a locking one? It's just a basic L-handle
I was wondering this .. because I need to lock mine

Walmart sells them cheaper than the storage place. I found one on clearance after I paid the storage place for one.
