@@ericjohnson1472 hey man! Yeah, great system isn’t it! I spoke to coober about this when I first did the mod. So, the system actually doesn’t require any extra airflow. However, I thought the stock exhaust was rubbish, so… What you can do is remove the stock exhaust, then drill all the rivets at the end of the exhaust (where the outlet is). Then you can get the black end off. Once it’s off, you’ll notice the narrow tube internally. Use a grinder to cut it off at the bottom. Smooth it, then re-rivet the end back ok with some high heat silicone. Job done! Great exhaust with extra flow. The whole kit is great and completely transforms the bike below 7k rpm. Side note… remember, the coober filter had some issues with being stuck down when I got it. Just triple check it’s ok when you get it, as it’s a primary filter (not a pre filter). I oiled mine too.

There are surely some compromises on this bike. Not the greatest on rough trails, but it is a super fun ride on dirt/gravel back roads and also does quite well on the highway. I love it!
I agree ,this bike makes a lot of compromises like you said not the greatest in really rough stuff, This summer I'm riding the Alpine loop in Colorado and I'm not looking forward to the beating I'm gonna get from the short travel suspension 🤣😂
I've had my heart set on a 2024 KLX300( priced $7200 OTD) until I sat on a 250KLX . Not only is it too tall but the seat KILLED my butt bones. (I'm 55 with a 32" inseam. ) Checking other dealers, I stumbled upon a 2023 KTM390 like yours. According to "specs" this bike will suit me perfectly including seat height, the type of riding I plan to do, being able to carry gear, etc. Best part is the price. $6649 on sale ( plus tax etc) with what appears to be alot of factory items already added that I'd otherwise have to add myself, aftermarket on another bike. So basically I'd have more bike for just a couple hundred more than a bike with less power that I'd have to invest MORE into mods to fit me, accessories ,etc. I don't plan on raging through the woods like i did on dirtbikes in my 20's. But I "could" with this. As well cruising dirt roads and everything in between. I've even discovered they make an ACTUAL OEM lower seat If I end up needing lower. As a returning / new rider, I think this just may be the one for me. I'll know after today. Hell, I still have an orange motoX helmet that even matches. LOL. So funny how I started with Honda, worked through Kawwi and right to KTM. A bike I've never even thought of considering. Thanks for the video dude. Helpful more than you may realize.
You are selling me on this. I have a few fast bikes in the garage, looking for a little backroad burner for some offroad stuff too... seems good to me!
Hey, great coverage of the KTM 390 adventure! I've been eyeballing the bike, thinking maybe I'll finally pull the trigger & get a motorcycle & it will be my first.. BUT, I saw a leaked image of the 2024 Duke 390, & I'm thinking "Maybe I should wait a little".. b/c I noticed the ground clearance on the new Duke.. & I figure that might carry over to the 2024 ADV, but even better?
KTM could upgrade a lot of things about the 390 to make it more competent especially off road. My riding is about 80/20 onroad to off , that 20% off road could definitely use some help 😁 .
Thank you for the video, I am in 🇨🇷 and just bought a RE 411 Himalayan and saw the KTM 390, very torn because I love the specs of the KTM, worth every penny… Yours is beautiful! I a, thinking either selling the RE now or wait for the 450 to get here in a few months but the KTM still amazing and maybe wait and see if the new 2025 KTM 390 gets a still better look. Any thoughts?
KTM 390 is a really good value dual purpose bike. BUT.... I am afraid it does have cons. The main one being the clearance, which is a serious limitation when going Off-road. This, in my opinion, is the biggest flaw of this bike. You WILL be hitting bottom in rough terrain. Another thing that bothers me is the limited turn radius. Making a U turn with this bike in some places won´t be a given. Still, it is a GREAT light weight BIKE. Price is ok and power, for a 390cc, is rather acceptable. I would say this bike is ok for a 65% road and 35% light off-road use. Mainly because of its height. (The chasis comes form a road bike, the Duke).
Bought mine at noon on Saturday & Love it.. have been chilling in the hospital since 2 pm on Saturday 👍🏻 Lol. Don’t go on trails you’re not familiar with. 2 broken ribs and slightly punctured lung after landing on a tree root ☹️
Oh man I’m sorry 😞 hopefully you’ll heal with no issues, bikes can always be fixed but the body is another story. These things happen to the best of us 🙄 .
i bought a himalayan and feel like i made a mistake. The ktm offers so much more. My himalayan lacks power , and the headlight is not great. But i scheduled a test drive for the ktm 390 adv.
Buyers remorse is a drag. I haven't ridden a Himalayan yet ,some people really like them but i hear they are heavy and underpowered . best of luck with your choices :)
@@thebelligerentmechanic8916 thanks! The only time i enjoy himalayan is at low speeds and offroad its actually quite fun. How is ktm offroad? Is it easy to maneuver?
KTM is easy to ride off road , however the shock is a bit oversprung for my weight and the stock tires could use some help :) otherwise its a breeze offroad.@@miha4443
You can connect your phone to the KTM screen as well for GPS no? This makes this bike an appealing choice for me. I don't think any other MFG has that for their adventure bikes.
I'm so close to buying one of these....just not sure about the negatives. I have a CRF250L and it's too slow on the highway. Would the 390 Adventure be more capable to keep up to highway speeds on hills?
mine does fine on hiways. Its pretty underwhelming when its brand new but after the break in it really perks up. Also a 14 tooth countershaft makes a huge difference. I've done alot of miles at 70+ mph with no issues. It should be much more highway friendly than the 250l just by engine size alone. best of luck with your decision 👍
Hi Bro, Loved your honest review. I would like to know one more thing about the spoke wheels vs cast wheels. Are the rims tubeless? Ride hard.. Ride safe.. God speed! Love from India!
Great video! Question, I own a 2021 Honda CB500X and I’m thinking seriously of trading it in for a 2023 KTM 390 adventure. What are your thoughts? I am 5’7” with a 30” inseam, I only weigh 145 pounds but I’m very strong for my size. 90% of my riding is on country roads and the rest on dirt roads. I’d appreciate everyone’s feedback. Thanks.
If you lived near me i'd let you ride mine so you could do a back to back comparison :) . I haven't yet ridden the 500x but i may have an opportunity soon i have heard good things but otherwise i cant speak to it. My experience with Honda in general has been quite good ,they make good bikes across the board. The KTM is a bit tall especially for its displacement . It is however very light and more so when rolling. My advice is to ride them both and make your decision accordingly . 👍
Maybe I am selling the seat short! Wouldn't be the first time. FYI I did find a 3 or 4-inch taller windshield replacement on an Indian channel. Here in Colombia, doesn't come with crash bars just got spoked wheels though. Is there any reason you didn't do paniers with soft bags on side and a box on the back?
I've used panniers soft and hard on other bikes but I don't like hard bags off road " I've broken them in tip overs , soft bags just squish , the setup i used for this bike is one I've had for years and i like it for its simplicity and ease of removal at the end of the riding day or in a tip over. I always say " Go with what works best for you" . IMHO there's no right or wrong method as long as it works for you .
hey man great video! subscribed I'm considering buying this bike and I was wondering if you think it is good to do like 600 miles long trips with a person on the passenger seat plus some side bags or some other stuff possible extra weight needed for the trip
I can doo 600+ mile trips on mine but i'm not sure about taking a passenger depending on the terrain you intend ride. If you're doing mostly pavement i think you'll be fine just a little crowded on the seat . I did see a RUclips video of a guy doing pretty rough off-road riding with a passenger on his 390 so it can be done depending on your desired comfort and performance level..
Bro, It got spoke wheels update but its tube tire rather than tubeless tire . Isn’t it downgrade , As tube tire’s after tire puncher it won’t able to travel like upto 10km. Like tubeless tire does .
there was a time when i couldn't afford a new bike like this in fact most bikes i've owned were bought used many years after they were popular. In time this one will not be popular and that is a good time to buy it. It will still be good and capable and fun and it will be a bargain. :)
i haven't ridden a 22 model but i have ridden a 21 duke and the seat was pretty bad. I can ride this stock seat all day with no issues but apparently some folks really don't like it. we're all different I say go with what works for you . 😁
They are tubeless tyres fitted to a tubed rim. Causing lots of confusion. So the tyres are compatible with tubeless rims so the tyres are tubeless, but the 2023 390 does NOT have tubeless rims so you need to use tubes with these tyres on this bike.. hope that makes sense
@SLAKK oh wow!! That makes perfect sense man. Thanks a lot. Much much appreciated !! They have just released this version in India and I was curious to know about the tyres ! Cheers 🍻
@@PuineaGip hi mate, i just bought a 2023 250 adventure about a month ago.. and all i can say is, it is a great bike.. almost similar with the 390 in term of size (chassis, seat height, weight), but without all the fancy electronics and adjustable suspensions.. i'm 5'5" and 120lbs asian, i can ride the bike comfortably.. being 250cc single cylinder, please expect it to vibrate a little.. but other than the vibration, i've got no complaint on the bike.. i'm not really into the "top speed" thing, but i managed to get 158km/h on the bike, and it actually can go further, it was just me who don't have the balls to pull the throttle more.. 😅 i use the bike as my daily ride to work.. no problems at all wading through traffic.. i'm living in south east asia, the most densely populated area on earth, bet you can imagine the traffic here..

I was little confused whether to go for Adv 390 or BMW GS310. Thanks for your review.booked this
I watch a lot of reviews when I’m considering a bike “new or used” . I’m glad my video was helpful for you 👍🙏👍
Nice review... this might be just the bike I need to get back riding
Definitely a really good re entry bike 🤗👍👍
Rear sub frame is a massive plus..
I am planning to buy this machine
All i see is the consistency of your videos ❤️ keep it up
🙏 thank you for the support 🙏
Thank you for the video, I am in 🇨🇷 and just bought a RE 411 Himalayan and saw the KTM 390, very torn because I love the specs of the KTM, worth every penny… Yours is beautiful! I a, thinking either selling the RE now or wait for the 450 to get here in a few months but the KTM still amazing and maybe wait and see if the new 2025 KTM 390 gets a still better look. Any thoughts?
I would enjoy your Himalayan and wait for the next model 390 adventure " i think it will be more dirt worthy" . thanks for the comment , ride safe :)
Very helpful for me.
Happy you found my video helpful.
(The chasis comes form a road bike, the Duke).
my video doesn't say there are no cons. I was focusing on all the pro's . Ground clearance is definately a con for this bike. :)
Liked
The review, would like to see how it handles highway traffic
Hiway speed at 70 or below with 14t counter shaft is fine but trying to run 80 plus is a chore 😁
Thanks, have a 790 but thinking of downsizing for the very reasons you did!

Very good review!
🙏 glad you enjoyed it 👍😁
i bought a himalayan and feel like i made a mistake.
Which Himalayan do You have, new 450? I am interested to buy new one, any info will be helpful.
Perfect video. To the point. Just one question. Are these spoke wheels Tubeless?
Thank you 🙏 the tires are tubeless unfortunately the rims are not so you still have a tube 😔
You can connect your phone to the KTM screen as well for GPS no? This makes this bike an appealing choice for me. I don't think any other MFG has that for their adventure bikes.
I believe you can connect for GPS but I use a separate navigation device 👍
@@thebelligerentmechanic8916 Oh for sure. I like the idea of using it as a zoomed out map along with the Garmin GPS. Great for trails.
I just bought a 2023 and its full LED, blinkers included. Weird yours are not.
I guess some are some are not? Where do you live? I’m on the west coast USA
Hi Bro,
Loved your honest review. I would like to know one more thing about the spoke wheels vs cast wheels. Are the rims tubeless?
Ride hard.. Ride safe..
God speed!
Love from India!
yes m8 they are
Very common question, yes tires are tubeless but do have tubes because of the spoke rims common for most off-road capable bikes 👍
@@thebelligerentmechanic8916 Thanks for your input and offer to try yours. Unfortunately I live up in 🇨🇦… It’s much appreciated. Cheers!
IMHO there's no right or wrong method as long as it works for you .
hey man great video! subscribed
I'm considering buying this bike and I was wondering if you think it is good to do like 600 miles long trips with a person on the passenger seat plus some side bags or some other stuff possible extra weight needed for the trip
Love it - really useful. What rear rack have you fitted? Cheers
Apologies - just seen the answer in another of your videos!
No worries , it is a good robust rack that will last years.
The biggest problem with this bike is it doesn't have tubeless tyres
I really want one as a second bike tbh.
I think i could own this as an only bike but i do have a Triumph that i do most of my on-road riding on. As a second bike it is perfect :)
What about low end torque for offroading have they fixed that issue
I added a 14 tooth countershaft sprocket, really helps low end torque 👍👍
You're definitely not the first motorcyclist who plays a guitar. I wonder if there is any statistical correlation. I like your video, thanks!
Definitely not 😁 I do occasionally see other bikers with a guitar strapped on 👍🤗
Bro, It got spoke wheels update but its tube tire rather than tubeless tire . Isn’t it downgrade , As tube tire’s after tire puncher it won’t able to travel like upto 10km. Like tubeless tire does .
This variant has been launched in India now.. I’m thinking of getting one but I’m sceptical over tube tyres.. how is your experience
so far so good but haven't done any heavy off-roading yet , regardless most of my dual sport bikes have tube tires so i'm used to it.
I’m pretty sure my 2023 adventure came with spoked wheels and tubeless tires. That’s one of the upgrades from last years model.
I wish i could afford this bike.
there was a time when i couldn't afford a new bike like this in fact most bikes i've owned were bought used many years after they were popular. In time this one will not be popular and that is a good time to buy it. It will still be good and capable and fun and it will be a bargain. :)
remember that the seat has been upgraded from 2022 to 2023. Your model has a softer seat.
i haven't ridden a 22 model but i have ridden a 21 duke and the seat was pretty bad. I can ride this stock seat all day with no issues but apparently some folks really don't like it. we're all different I say go with what works for you . 😁
Great video!
Are those tyres tubed or tubless ?
They are tubeless but apparently they do use a tube? I need to look into it 👍
@@thebelligerentmechanic8916 so it comes with tube ?
They are tubeless tyres fitted to a tubed rim. Causing lots of confusion. So the tyres are compatible with tubeless rims so the tyres are tubeless, but the 2023 390 does NOT have tubeless rims so you need to use tubes with these tyres on this bike.. hope that makes sense
@SLAKK oh wow!! That makes perfect sense man. Thanks a lot. Much much appreciated !!
They have just released this version in India and I was curious to know about the tyres !
Cheers 🍻
Is it worth waiting for the 24 model? Are there major changes from 23 to 24?
I'm not sure , i've seen some news about a more conventional looking 390 adventure for 2025 ?
Hi " The Belligerent Mechanic "
If you had to say a few words for "KTM 390 ADVENTURE", what would you say?

I’ve never owned or ridden one, sorry
@@thebelligerentmechanic8916 oh well, cant seem to find anyone that does an honest reviee on it for some reason, nice video btw
Good (mature) perspective ... with which I agree.
What tank bag is that?
Factory Ktm tank bag , ordered through the dealer.

yes the tires are tubeless 🤗
The tires are tubeless, but the wheels are not. They have tubes.

No service station around seems like a con..
My dealership is about 25 minutes from my home.
Zero Cons? I dont think so. Vibration in the crotch and the feet gets intense over a longer trip down a paved road.

Get a Quadlock for the phone mount. You won't regret it! I used RAM mount X-grip and wish I'd gone straight to the Quadlock instead. I use them on all my bikes and the car.

maybe the most ugly headlight i ever seen so far on any bike on any category.i like more vespa headlight than this.
I actually really like the front end look of this bike, it looks like a wasp but yes it is a bit hard on the eyes for some people.
Hi brother Recently I bought 390 adventure standard model in india, and I have some doubts if you give your insta id or any contact I clear it brother 😊
Almost 22.000 kms on mine and still counting… sitting here getting ready to ride through the Dolomites 🇮🇹 today.
In that time a chain change, some electric problem during heavy rain (horn stopped working) and that’s about it.
Yes, sometimes I’m wanting a little more uphill grunt, yet off-road there’s all the power the the ground you need and (especially important) I can lift it by myself.
