    If you save the original fabric from the chair you could use it to make pattern so you know where to snip. And it will also save you a ton of energy but great chair!

    I like learning how you reupholster different pieces of furniture. I have a love seat I'd like to tackle when I get up enough nerve. It's either that or buy a new one and that could get expensive.😬👍❤️

    Great tutorial!!! I've got 2 vintage chairs I bought from a friend and they have great bones but I had to strip them all the way down. The old burlap was almost dust. I've gotten hung up on needing to tie the old springs...but I'll get there. Your videos have been so helpful....thanks!!!

    Excellent video! You made it look so easy. I have an upholstered chair that I painted with Dixie Belle chalk paint. I want to add some patches to the chair. I have a cute stencil that I want to stencil on a scrap of fabric then attach it to the chair. Do you have a recommendation of how to attach that fabric to the chair? Spray adhesive, wonder under, gorilla glue sticks? I would appreciate any advice you could give me. Thanks so much!

    I am not sure what I think about this. I have never seen this style here in SE NC. We have lots of 1800's -1900's historical homes so there are plenty of formal chairs that have faded fabric. I would have to work up the nerve!! Thanks for the inspiration!

    I was looking for help on cutting the the fabric in the back corners of the seat to be able to pull it to the back and sides because that's the difficult cut. I know you cut at an angle and then a "Y" at the corners but I keep messing it up and am running out of fabric! You do a great job of showing how to cut for the front sides, but you did not include how you cut for the back corners of the seat. Do you have any hints or videos of that?

    I've loved deconstructed chairs for a few yrs now. And I'm with zeb I won't use the trim . But I do love the trim you used for this chair, and fabric choice. Is it ticking fabric? I love it .. And it's very durable.. Jami you did a fantastic job.I have a chair In need of a face lift and I'm so doing this. My family is going to flip because I know they aren't going to like it but I don't care... I do...lol tf all the TiPs.. Hugs Deb

      Zeb would totally do exposed beams and heavy leather furniture with these deconstructed wingback chairs all over the house! This is our happy compromise because I can put a grain sack on them and pass it off as farmhouse! 😂

    • @anibird3144
      @anibird3144 6 лет назад

      Jami Ray Vintage Oh I get you. Wanting to compromise! And who knows maybe once I do start it I might change my mind. My chair has springs in the back and bottom of the seat. I'm alittle nervous but if it doesn't look right I'll just recover it . I already did once with drop cloth and it's getting dirty on the arms and head, so time for a change. I don't have any grain sacks . Would so love to use that. It's an over stuffed chair that I got thrifting for 15.00 bucks. I will have to wait until the weather break's cause I painted the arms and legs ...I'd like to go back to the wood . Thanks! You

    Hey Jami and zeb!! I have a question😀 first off I was soooo inspired by this chair I went out and found a matching pair, exactly like y’alls for $40!!😱I found 5 grain sacks on Etsy for $50 whoop whoop! They are the Bemis seamless ones though, i could not find the one like yours anywhere! But anyways, this is my FIRST time upholstering a chair in my life, I’m pretty much done, the only thing left is stapling the fabric on the back two vertical wood pieces (and the trim). That’s where I realized the fabric I got is not the same as yours...I got a ticking stripe fabric but mine is stark white on the back side and it looks like yours is printed on both sides....?? I think my fabric is “duck fabric”...I’m kind of sad because now when I go to staple the fabric on the wood on the back of the chair, it shows white instead of the stripes like yours 😭 this is just the first chair so I’d like to use the same fabric as you on 2nd...I’m selling one and keeping one ..oh and I got my fabric at hobby lobby too..if you could steer me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!!!! but sorry for the year long message!😄I watch EVERY SINGLE one of y’alls videos! Y’all have inspired me soooooo much on all of my projects AND house updates! Hope to here from you!
    Bethanee

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  6 лет назад

      Mine wasn't the Duck cloth if I remember right, it was a lighter weight material. I'll have to try and remember to look next time I'm at hobby lobby. I can't find the receipt and can't recall.

      What do you use to Scotchguard the fabric with. I know Scotchguard makes various sprays. I am not sure what will provide the best protection. Any advice wouod be great. The chair looks so great. You 2 are a great team. Could I also use that Scotchguard to protect different fabrics and materials that are used on shoes.

    How many yards did you buy of the striped fabric?

  • @1jmass
    @1jmass 6 лет назад

    Nice look. You need to invest in a really sharp craft knife to make cutting the fabric easier. It gets much closer than scissors. They sell silicon finger guards and such to protect you from the hot glue, or you can just use a silicon spatula. This particular look is not my style, but I do like the fabric choices.

  • @donnaprzybilla2936
    @donnaprzybilla2936 6 лет назад +1

    So, can't you kinda use the fabric taken off as a template? I am just saying maybe easier.😕

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  6 лет назад

      Sure can! But you usually have to pull each staple out individually so you don’t rip the fabric up. We’ve found that takes way more time and effort than just trimming to fit afterward.
