Red rooster started in WA unless an American bought it. It is still an Aussie business. I agree about the food comments she obviously did not try much. Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, indian all very spicy foods

Is Red Rooster American or Australian?
      Australia
Red Rooster (Reds) is Australia's first and favourite chicken shop with over 50 years of satisfying Australia's chicken cravings. Reds is the only fast-food company in Australia that now truly specialises in both roast and fried chicken and is in an exciting time of change and innovation for the brand.

In UK we would call it a facecloth and we did have wash cloths when I was a kid but I've never used one since I had my own home. I heard they provide a perfect environment for breeding bacteria. I don't look for them but I have a feeling that you don't normally get them in UK hotels. You also don't typically get a fridge in a hotel room so the tea and coffee making stuff will usually include UHT milk.

    • @CheekyKoala
      @CheekyKoala  7 дней назад

Yeah, I thought it might be a hygiene thing - here I’ve heard them referred to as wash cloths, face cloths, face washers & something that my family used to call them, but I’ve never heard elsewhere is: “flannel” (odd?) I guess because of the climate, it’s normal to have a little bar fridge in a hotel room, but at the same time, you always get the long life milk - UHT: they’re those little pots of milk?

The trouble with Americans , they are use to eating fast foods . The Australian food isn’t bland . Asian food is spicy . There must be something with their taste buds . I visited casino’s in the USA and they do gamble .I noticed that us Aussies don’t complain too much when we travel overseas but when tourists come to Australia , they complain about trivial things like putting beetroot on burgers . I hate how they say things that isn’t quite true . Two British backpackers were recently in Victoria and it has been cold . They complained that they thought Australia was always hot and they thought that they would be in their swimming costumes . Then they tried to say that the Aussie winters are colder than in the UK . I am just over people that want to exaggerate things while travelling . I love your videos because you say the true .

Admittedly we’ve had a bloody cold start to winter here in Victoria, but to say it’s colder than the UK? 😂😂😂 I think that when it comes to Aussie food, there are a number of food additives which are used in America that are banned here in Australia, so maybe this couple eats a lot of highly processed foods with lots of additives usually?

We stayed at an AirBNB with no hand towels let alone no washcloths and also no top sheet! It had a flat sheet used as a bottom sheet and a doona, and this was in the summer! Ended up unmaking the bed to use that one sheet as both a top and a bottom. I think AirBNB's vary a lot, far more than say a hotel chain.

I had to look up the word "doona" and it sounds like it is a duvet without the duvet cover? In UK you normally get a bottom sheet and a duvet in a cover but no top sheet. If you are too hot you have the option of removing the duvet and just sleeping with the duvet cover over you.

    • @CheekyKoala

@@Phiyedough How annoying to be putting it on and off all the time. Why no top sheet?
Sheet sets normally come with a fitted bottom sheet, a flat top sheet and 1-2 pillow cases.
I know the word duvet but would not use it in conversation. To me if it isn't a blanket or a spread but something warm and quilted or warm and filled with feathers or some acrylic stuffing, it's a doona.
Not to say every state in Australia uses the same word, I'm from Queensland and I live inland rurally which only about 15% of us do. It's a large state so someone on the coast or city may use different words again.
Summer nights can be so hot all you want is a sheet and air conditioning blowing.
Koala sounds to be from Tasmania which is the furtherest state south. Completely different climate, Tassie is more like England and we are more hot and dry. The coast is more humid and I was reminded of that when we stayed over to see our daughter. You would be sleeping in a sauna under a doona.

She is the fist American I have heard saying the food was bland. Maybe their taste buds are use to a ton of salt, sugar and MSG, American food labels do read like a chemical factory.
I guess we are not known for Mexican or Italian food, but I doubt it's as bad as what they claim, unless they just had bad luck and went to bad eating places.
I am wondering if they tried any Asian food. Most Indian or Korean or Filipino food places are run by Indian, Korean and Filipino's so its normally very good.
I do know that gambling isn't as open in the US. I don't think they have pubs with pokies. I think they would have to go to a casino.
Lawn bowls? Well that's also a first. We do have a Commonwealth Games lawn bowling team, so its more than retirees, but huge? No.
American football? I can't think of anything more boring to watch- apart from lawn bowls. 😂And yeah I don't give two hoots about it. I'm from Queensland and while we are not known for being the biggest AFL state I will watch AFL.

Gambling - while Australia has pokies in our pubs and casinos adjacent to our CBD; I believe that gambling is more regulated in the US. state by state basis. Except Nevada which is gambling from top to bottom.
NFL - there is some interest in Australia, if only limited to the Superbowl. I think Triple M give away a trip to America and free tickets to the Superbowl or at least they used to. The TV station will show the Superbowl live here.

Full Cream = Whole Milk; We use stainless kettle on natural gas burner to heat water. 115 Volt electric kettle takes WAY longer than 220 Volt one. Some people have a hot water source in the kitchen sink that runs on 240 Volt US power. They are about equivalent to yours. You have met a "Karen"; and they think no one else's way of doing things is right.

Older two wire plugs were line & neutral and much less safe, Common 240 volt was for electric stoves, dryers and some HVAC equipment. It had two lives out of phase and a neutral. Some plugs also had safety ground. The choice of 115 volt happened when US switched from DC to AC power along with the 60 Hz frequency. DC and AC coexisted for a while as different compnies ran the service.

I think she was in NSW. When I drive to Sydney, I do notice that the drivers are far more aggressive than in county NSW. I live in the Shoalhaven area of NSW and lawn bows is very big, with many clubs having a large function center with a large restaurant attached and serval bowling greens, some clubs also have a golf course. Clubs and pubs in NSW are also big in gambling and do have banks of monitors, displaying all sorts of sports and gambling games.
I do not think she is talking about a restaurant, but 'fast food'. I also am sick of 'fast food', and I also think it is bland and expensive. But Americans do cover their food with a lot of seasoning and, I for one, do not like all this seasoning and I think American style food would not sell in Australia.

I haven’t even got to the end yet. Honestly I’ve never heard anyone nit pick or correct Aussies so much . We like American football more?? First I’ve ever heard that one.
Our food is bland? There used to be a vid on American food with additives that have been banned in so many countries. Apparently, their bread is also full of sugar and additives. Food colourings so many countries have banned are still used in America. You can get, as you know, many countries food made here by people who come from different countries as One Pack Wanders discovered. Some things we’d all have to adjust to in another country - but complain about so much , I found to be a tad rude.
Oh and where is our lawn bowls stadium? many love the game, but where is the stadium ? If there is one I’ve definitely never heard about it - a game I don’t personally know one person who plays.
