FINALLY ! Finally someone who explains wtf he is doing, thank you for that
A concise, detailed, step by step tutorial in 10 minutes? Amazing! Thank you for giving us the information we need to recreate this efficient and effective compact farm with no padding. I would love to see more tutorials like this for early game simple farms. 🥰
Glad it was helpful!
If you wanted to improve the lag on the farm you should have the hopper minecart sit on an activator rail that is powered. And use the observer to unpowered the activator rail so that the hopper minecart can pic up items.
Or better yet. Run 1 hopper minecart for all sheep.
From the lag testing I did these are the rough values. (Numbers represent how many empty barrels it would take to make equivalent lag.)
Sheep that can’t pathfind. 170 BV (barrel value )
Hopper minecart 170 BV (doesn’t matter much if it’s moving)
Hopper minecart that is turned off via activator rail. 70 BV
Empty hopper 4.5 BV
Dispenser that is constantly activating 3.8 BV
Dispenser that is not being activated 0.8 BV
Observer 0.7 BV
I do like the off circuit. It keeps the hoppers from trying to push items into a full chest. And prevents loose entities on the ground. And keeps shears from being wasted. I just wanted to suggest adding a method to lock the hopper minecart would be a big lag benefit
Great lag analysis, thanks!
Great video that instantly triggered a "I need 14 modules" build session... now I just need to think about what to do with all these wool... :)
Hey prowl 🤗 Karbaum from way back in your commcraft days. So glad to see you are doing well and still making videos! Your tutorial is great, I’m going to use it! It popped up one of the first results in my sheep wool search-you’re doing awesome!
This is a stylish and very compact farm, nicely done there Sir. Loved The Fifth Element reference as well. Lol Bada bing bada boo
haha thanks! I did watch that recently.
@@Prowl8413 does having the red stone block touching two farms affect anything? What do I do with that?
Man, you consistently impress me with your farms. I got into Minecraft 10 years late so the knowledge behind the farms is seriously appreciated so I can tailor them to my needs
Thank you! Great video! Simple, but with extra features of you want them... I appreciate it! Rock on man!🙌
Thanks!
Good timing! Looking to build a wool farm in my industrial area :)
Go for it!
Love the colored wool under the chest! Subtle. Nice variation from item frames.
Clean look = win
Thanks for the video… I found that wool would stay near the hopper at the back sometimes so I put the hopper on the side of the dispenser so that I would catch all the wool. Cheers!
Very cool. Gonna have to build one just because it’s a smooth design.
Great video! I remember you saying that having more grass around increases rates. I may need to upgrade the sheep farm on Eternia now!
Upgrade!
Perfect timing for me. Wool is the next farm I need in my world.. 😁
Do it!
This farm works fantastically. Easy to setup. Built mine to house all 16 color sheep, fits in 2 chunks, though I don’t believe it needs chunk aligned. I did that anyhow.
So good! I love this design!
Glad you like it!
Great tutorial 👍 !! Simple and crisp to the point !
Also really like the way of presenting the tutorial
Thanks!
An underrated farm. It is awesome.
Thanks Prowl enjoyed the video. I need to give it a try.
Please do!
I came here to build a sheep farm and ended up learning how comparators work. Sub
Love this. Will def build in my world.
I already have one of these in my world with the light system as well lol. Just wanted to get you an extra view, comment, and like!
Great design! Depending on what you surround it with, light sources somewhere on the grass would be a good idea. Grass needs light to spread.
I was thinking the same thing!
Good catch!
That sheep in the way... 😂
Go away sheep!
It paid the ultimate price for hogging the camera like a ham😂.
First big fan on your server also
Thanks!
Great tutorial like the wool farm
I usually just cut out the second hopper, so if you fill the hopper next to the comparater you'll get your test without having to fill the system up. And you can test with any item that stacks to 64 to test it.
I needed this
You are a legend
Thanks
It's like a compact JC playz wool farm I wish this came out sooner haha :)
Yes!
im a casual player and i got a question on why we would need a wool farm? what are all the uses for wool? just building?
regardless i want to build it looks like a great farm
Wool can be a great building block... you use it to make carpets of course, which can be useful both for some farms, mob proofing, or for builds as well. Also wool is used around sculk sensors in the deep dark and ancient cities as it keeps them from hearing you and summoning in the warden!
@@Prowl8413 that is some cool info i didnt know about the warden may have to do this now
Niceone thanks Prowl
thanks :p
Thanks
Welcome
Great video. Now I just need to repeat it fifteen more times for every other color of wool. I’ll be getting your views up lmao
I want to put it in a wall but I'm not sure how I would get the sheers in without leaving a hole.
I just set this up yesterday. My sheep made 4 stacks and a bit more. When I checked on the farm this morning I had wool, cooked mutton and no sheep. Ideas to why that happened?
Lightning strike maybe? Cooked mutton only happens when they catch fire, or are killed with a fire aspect/flame enchanted weapon
Once the chest fills up and it powers up the dispenser, dont you need some sort of "reset" button to get it going again after the sheep has regrown wool? Or will it continue to eat grass and will just kick back on automatically?
It's completely automatic. It stops collecting wool when the chest and hoppers are full. It resumes collecting wool once there is room in the collection system. :- )
@@upthedubsguy so the sheep will keep eating even with their wool regrown?
Yes they eat regardless of wool
@@Prowl8413 Awesome, thanks! I just never paid enough attention to my sheep to notice!
@@briand7157 Hi. Yes, that's correct. Just as they do when they are in the wild. Each time grass grows back on the block they are standing on, they will eventually eat the grass at random intervals.
When I set up the glass the grass won’t grow anymore
What's wool used for?
Does it work in java edition?
Yup
:p
Pizza
Its not that much efficient :( but its ok
Can you show me a more efficient one? To my knowledge it doesn't get more efficient than this. We have maximized the rate at which grass can grow, automated shearing, and are at a point where we have to wait for the sheep to decide to eat.
@@Prowl8413 sry for inconvenience :|
Thanks
