Seeing them perform this nearly ten years ago live was so great. I never record music live because use your eyeballs not your iPhone. But I did record like the first minute of this because I knew I was seeing something special. Wasn’t played nearly as fast. Unreal band, unreal time. I actually went with a buddy who had maybe seen like 2 live shows ever. I was so desperate to go to the show and I actually said fuck it I’ll pay for your ticket If you come. He tapped me on the shoulder during stubborn love and goes bro, these guys are unreal. What a show.
The Rookie You've unknowingly answered your on question. (Imagine these words being said in the sweetest tone possible.) I mean that. I am Sincere. Like the Lyrics in this song I'm just an animal looking for a home And share the same space for a minute or two And you love me till my heart stops Love me till I'm dead. This band Is like Home to me, although a major part of society overlooks the significance of my ethnos' ability to say whats on my Heart. I'm African American and love a band that plays and creates beautiful music. I live In the "Hood" where all the Music you hear is HIP-HOP and Trap, If I played this song in my neighbor"Hood" people would laugh their head off. I was hoping to demonstrate a warm cathartic experience for myself and other fellow Lumineer Fans. However you didn't understand my life experience In sharing the fact that I'm black and Love the lumineers. When I discovered this band I couldn't help but Smile from ear to ear with the feeling of being at "Home." Sorry I wrote so much but I had to get that off my chest Thank you for reading this if you got this Far.
Listen to this version and the Head's version sometime back to back, it's a hoot. I love songs that work great at different tempos (the most famous perhaps being Smells Like Teen Spirit) and vocal styles. This definitely qualifies, it's a winner.
Listen and the bass line is tAd different. On the nonlive version its G Am Bm Am or Minor 7 And later the guitar switches later to G Am Em Am This maybe not their best performance but i love their version. Such a Beautiful song. Beautiful treatment. Its one of those songs that will be played 50 years from now. Love byrne's lyrics. Maybe my favorite of all song writers. To shit on this version- i guarantee, you dont play music or sing.
Wesley needs to not set the microphone so high that he tilts his head back. That increases the stresses on the throat and exacerbates the raspiness and voice breaking of multiple song performances. Just a suggestion.
i appreciate the tribute to the song because for real "this must be the place" could possibly be the best song ever written .. so that being said its a high standard to to try to cove it but at least they tried ..they failed but they did try props not sure anyone can do it justice except byrne

Why don't we come to an agreement and all say the original song is comparable to a book and a cover is relative to a movie. The book is always better. Awesome video though. Tired of people talking down a cover of any song.
Yea ... I just went over to the Talking Heads version because I didn't know about this song until the Lumineers ... and it sucked. This version is way better. =/
K Joseph You've never nisheard a lyric and spent the rest of your life trying to force yourself to sing it right? I do that to like half of my favorite songs
+Gmanbrooklyn Best version I ever heard. They really bring out the greatness of the song! Better arrangement. It is much better than the original version done by the Talking Heads.
If you like this more than the TH version should be deafened so you can never voice another musical opinion again. This is the most pussified version of the "This Must Be the Place" I have ever heard. They nearly ruin it with their soft, back bone lacking, soul-less, departure from the original. This band needs to grow a pair and try and separate themselves from the rest of those indie-folk-fad groups.
I can't get over this cover. While it is nothing like the Talking Heads version, it's a magnificent sight.
Listen to Shawn Colvin's version. It beats all and is, imo, better by far than the TH original
It doesn't seem like a love song when the Lumineers perform it
I was there, what an experience!!!
One of my favs......Also a heart felt cover.... Love it!
I don't listen to the Lumineers that much but I always respected them greatly for how often they cover this beautiful song.
I loved the original by TH; I absolutely love the Lumineers take on this song. Beautifully done.
why are there not more likes?! amazing.
Honestly, cause most people these day's like rap or taylor swift.
I'd like to rap Taylor Swift ,in a IETCHX sandmish.
❤ .....this cover is perfection, even with the imperfections....just like relationships

I was there too. So memorable 💓
This kid kills it......I'm still watching this since my last post. Keep it up!!
Gonna have a similar rendition for my first dance at my wedding. Such a beautiful song
I'm Black, I love their music.
I'm white and I think it sucks.
we are all the same...black,white, brun....we have the same sens...
Slugsongs lmao
I'm caucasian how is this relevant?

This is a great song to cover, I like the variations
WOOOOW super impressed
+Jbouf8 Sorry but you're obviously pretty easily impressed
+Anthony Phillips LOL
Great music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It brings tears
I'm still watching!!
Love his voice! Sorry some don't just enjoy the simple things!
all I know...is joy rapture. ..I will proceed to listen to Lumineers.
wow...I used to think they weren't really anything special, but this is a REALLY GOOD cover of a legendary song that's hard to top

awesome
listed to it live on Jools Holland later....David Byrne the original and then put this version out of your mind forever
Home - is where i want to be
But i guess i'm already there
"In weiter Ferne... und doch so nah..."
beautiful cover
great cover of a great song!
❤️
fucking great
This song REALLY reminds me of Chris McCandles from Into The Wild
This song reminds me of the person I love who reminds me of Chris mccandles
This is a great cover ! Does anybody know what chords the Lumineers use for this song ?
I think it's G, Am, Bm. Same as the Talking Heads. I use a Bm7 instead of Bm. I believe it sounds better.
Seriously this is awful. All they did was simplify the song...bunch of fucking hipsters..
Listen and the bass line is tAd different. On the nonlive version its G Am Bm Am or Minor 7 And later the guitar switches later to G Am Em Am

This coming July, it'll be six years. Six! zzzip.. fast huh?
Look for Sean Hayes for the best cover of this song
I've only seen one good cover of this song so far, and that was MGMT.
not bad

the talking heads are the shit this cover is decent I guess but not comparable at all to the original
This ones very good but Instill prefer the version with Andrew Bird singing the lead with them.
Nothing's wrong...
This is supposed to be a happy song. I don't know why The Lumineers make it sound calm.
i cant tell if this a cover or his just doing number 2 LOL
Yeah Lumineers you tried, but Nobody can be Talkin' Heads!
This version is completely different than the original so I don't hear how the Lumineers are trying to "be the Talking Heads"

Not enough
It’s not great but it’s not terrible.
(((
Clearly a studio band...
No....
Honestly this cover is not really that good
+Clark Tisdale ok?
What? Why are you asking me ok?
+Clark Tisdale new familiars are one of the few bands to do a proper cover...this isnt awful but its very high school talent show
Can you put a link up ?
Better than me , and I'm awesome .
Yea ... I just went over to the Talking Heads version because I didn't know about this song until the Lumineers ... and it sucked. This version is way better. =/
um.... please know the lyrics before doing a cover.
