This song reminds me of an older friend that passed several years ago. He used to play this album when we worked together. For a long time after he passed, I kept thinking that I’d seen him on the street. Somebody wearing his cap, walking like him, or the back of a slightly balding head. I’d have recurring dreams about him coming back. I listen to this song occasionally and it brings back all the fond memories of him. Miss you, Chris.
I started reading this message and I stopped half way through as it made me sad and I didn’t even know your friend. But after a minute I realised just how nice it is that you obviously thought very highly of your friend and you had a great friendship. Music is eternal

My favorite Talking Heads song of all time, brings so many good memories of my friends. The Talking Heads were geniuses at making songs that made sense of feelings that don’t make sense.
I think this has to do in part with David Byrne being on the autism spectrum! He views the world in a quite a different way. I’m also on the spectrum and his music has deeply resonated with me since I was a kid.
The Talking Heads were all White. All were students at the Rhode Island School of Design. The addition of Black band members seems intentional and artificial.

This is without a doubt, one of the top ten songs of all time. I could listen to this song on repeat all day. My two year old son and I dance to this song. Warms my heart
This feels so nostalgic. back then, it was special to watch a movie. People were so much more connected. Now everyone is on their phone. I miss the enjoyment of just really being together. Doing something together.
i don’t think there is any other song that exists that straight away makes me happy or puts a smile on my face every damn time i listen to it, no matter what mood I’m in. It’s Just pure happiness
I was introduced do this song when I was 17, I’m a few weeks shy from my 25th. This songs somehow explains all the things I wish I could say out loud. “I’m just an animal looking for a home.” I cry and I cry to that lyric. I have friends who are getting married and those who are having children. I’m so conflicted about the things I want but am not ready for. I don’t even have a lover who truly understands me. I want someone to truly and deeply love me. I desperately plead to be loved hard.
Girl, i know this feeling. I am almost 23 but I have this deep desire of found someone who really loves me and understand me, and who also has the desire of build a family. Sometimes I think I will never have it. But hey, stay strong. God bless us!
This song makes me cry of joy every time I listen to it, i want it played a lot of times the day of my wedding, i want it played throughout my life and i want it played the day i die, this song makes me understand life and be happy with it, makes me happy with what I have. This is my favorite song ever and it makes me happy that a lot of people feels the same way about it ❣
Dec 30th 1991, This was the 1st song played by Lin Brehmer, new morning host on WXRT Chicago all of those years ago! He was the epitome of the "Chicago" city life style, music aficionado and a real Gentleman! Taken by cancer at only 68 years old... 1/22/23 R.I.P. Lin! Maybe pretty much a Chicago thing but I'll personally think of all of the years I listened to his radio show every time I hear this song.
Oh No! Lin is gone?! He was *MY* DJ in Albany NY in the early 80's. The Reverend of Rock and Roll. Had the 9:02 Unusual Moment every Wednesday night. I left for college in August and by Columbus Day when I came home, he had left. I only knew he was in Chicago 'cause of the internet all these years later. I thought he was still spinning. All hail Lin. One of the best.
I'm 55 years old and I started really liking the talking heads when I was in high school freshman sophomore. Talking heads 77 was the first album I bought. This band is so underrated forward thinkers genius God bless the talking heads
@@laurynjade79 lol the egg on your face. ‘Talking Heads lead singer David Byrne has called this "a very personal love song," and has said it was written about a specific person, likely Adelle Lutz, a costume designer he had recently met. The couple married in 1987 and had a daughter named Malu before divorcing in 2004.’
My favorite Talking Heads song since I was a teenager in the 90s all into the 80s stuff. I finally got to see this live when David Byrne toured in 2018. I cried, it was so beautiful.
💖Could not possibly love them more!! Here listening in October 2023, the world's toast but I'm out dancing in my yard with this on my headphones having a moment of sheer bliss!! Thank you guys, I love you💗💯👏🏼💖✌🏼
A thousand years later this song will still bring you home. ❤ Timeless melody and beautiful arrangement. TH is one of the most talented yet underrated music bands of all time.
The Talking Heads is one of my favorite bands of all time!! Nothing quite like a bunch of people just stimming and vibing together. Truly a group of people who found their “tribe.” I want that for myself more than anything. Just putting it ✨out there✨
I turned my 23 year old son onto the Talking Heads about a year and a half ago and he has become a big fan just like I was and still am. There music is timeless
@@saltyscoundrel4368 just tired of people acting like the 80s are so great now when these same people bitched about the 80s and would say things Ike the 1950s were cool and they wished they lived in that decade because the 80s weren't as good. Now these same people are nostalgic about the days they used to say sucked and now are pushing it on their kids. Just let your kids discover and enjoy their time. Geez
@@danceswithcomicbooks7733 Fair enough, I apologise if I myself sounded confrontational. While I partially agree with what your saying, we shouldn't ram old music down peoples' throats, a little nudge in that direction can sometimes be the best thing to happen to you. It's like when parents get their kids to try different foods, personally I am so grateful to be saved from the awful modern "music" mess that has come about, and it wasn't forced on me, merely suggested.
@@saltyscoundrel4368 the thing is my dad and mom let me discover things on my own. They didn't push their childhood music or movies on me. So I was able to enjoy things I grew up with and also look back at old stuff if I wished. It's It's terrible things when parents today push their childhood stuff on their kids and say that modern stuff is crap. Kids don't think that way. They want to be separate from their parents as teens and want to figure some stuff out on their own. If they decide to look back at classic stuff their parents liked they will. Today's helicopter parents are way too involved. Let them discover some entertainment on their own from their generation because that's the stuff they'll reminisce with their peers in 30 or 40 years not some music that will be 80 years old by then.
I cant explain the grip this song has on me. It fills me with joy and sadness at the same time. The lyrics hit me on a personal level too. A masterpiece of a song.
I've instructed my husband that I want THIS recording played at my memorial. It has brought me joy from the first day I heard it in college..and I was relatively late to the "Talking Heads". I know lyrics are open to interpretation beyond what the artist may have intended -- but for me this song has always been about celebrating the circle of life and the power of love. "If someone asks, this is where I'll be."
This song makes so much Sense in Todays world as it did way back in the 80s thank you to you tube for keeping all these precious Songs that would be lost forever....Alive and in our Hearts.....

This is without a doubt, one of the top ten songs of all time. I could listen to this song on repeat all day. My two year old son and I dance to this song. Warms my heart
Psycho killer is better
nah
My three year old and me also dance to the Talking Heads. He loves them! ☺
@Joe Barnhart jr. not sure its a good dance song for 2 year old , lol
What a beautiful moment to share with us all❤️ I can’t wait too one day I dance around with my children to this song 💯
This feels so nostalgic. back then, it was special to watch a movie. People were so much more connected. Now everyone is on their phone. I miss the enjoyment of just really being together. Doing something together.
Hey you should look up a band called The Doublejumps if you like Talking Heads
Watching this and feel like we are watching together. Love to my fellow brothers and sisters 🩷🩷
The most multi cultural band I’ve seen
This was my parents song. I’ll never hear it without crying
i don’t think there is any other song that exists that straight away makes me happy or puts a smile on my face every damn time i listen to it, no matter what mood I’m in. It’s Just pure happiness
I’m always covered with a blanket of love and happiness when I hear these humans making such beautiful noise
Song makes me simultaneously happy and sad!
Me too.
I know how you feel. Im still an animal, nearly 42 years old. Take it easy, you will get it. Greetings from 🇦🇷
Girl, i know this feeling. I am almost 23 but I have this deep desire of found someone who really loves me and understand me, and who also has the desire of build a family. Sometimes I think I will never have it. But hey, stay strong. God bless us!
58 yrs and still Optimistically searching...!!!
It's an inside job. Love yourself the way you want to be loved.
Honestly, this must be the best song ever. I think my life totally changed after the day found this band. I just love them.
I'm 40 today what a great present to wake up to!
Happy Birthday bud
Happy Birthday!
happy birthday
Happy birthday
On my 40th birthday I worked a double shift with no overtime pay doing work that didn´t need to be done.
I'm 55 years old and I started really liking the talking heads when I was in high school freshman sophomore. Talking heads 77 was the first album I bought. This band is so underrated forward thinkers genius God bless the talking heads
this is the most beautiful song i’ve ever heard. reminds me of the happiest times of my life
2:16 he’s so ahead of his times. I love this song. What a multicultural group too.
Play this at my funeral. Fr.
Talking heads was ahead of its time
You guys know this song was written for his dog that passed away. Absolutely mind blowing and beautiful ❤❤❤.
it was written about a human
@@joshblair8344 Nah . It was about his dog.
@@laurynjade79 nah it was about a woman lol
@@laurynjade79 lol the egg on your face. ‘Talking Heads lead singer David Byrne has called this "a very personal love song," and has said it was written about a specific person, likely Adelle Lutz, a costume designer he had recently met. The couple married in 1987 and had a daughter named Malu before divorcing in 2004.’
she sounds like a real dog to me :) Good research!@@joshblair8344
Just finished watching the umbrella academy season 4 this song was at the very ending such an amazing song

Can't believe I've never heard this song until now! Thanks Umbrella Academy 💙💙💙💙💙
One of my dad's favorite bands, when I listen to you I think of him.
Never saw this video before today. Prime Talking Heads at their peak.
My song. Our song. Pure poetry. A song for all time. We love and salute you Talking Heads.
My favorite Talking Heads song since I was a teenager in the 90s all into the 80s stuff. I finally got to see this live when David Byrne toured in 2018. I cried, it was so beautiful.
I was 19 and went hitchhiking/travelling to Spain, with Chris and his twin brother from Leeds … reminds me of that time 😍
back when hitch hicking was only just a little dangerous. ha.
I could watch this video a million times
💖Could not possibly love them more!! Here listening in October 2023, the world's toast but I'm out dancing in my yard with this on my headphones having a moment of sheer bliss!! Thank you guys, I love you💗💯👏🏼💖✌🏼
I love everything they've done, but this is and always will be my favorite song of theirs.
same 🥲
A thousand years later this song will still bring you home. ❤ Timeless melody and beautiful arrangement. TH is one of the most talented yet underrated music bands of all time.
What a song. Top 10 of all time. I can't sit still when I hear this. I have to move or dance
The Talking Heads is one of my favorite bands of all time!! Nothing quite like a bunch of people just stimming and vibing together. Truly a group of people who found their “tribe.” I want that for myself more than anything. Just putting it ✨out there✨
The quirkiest group ever! And that’s why I love them!
'There aint no place just like this place anywhere near this place, so this must be the place'.
Thank you very much.
THE BEST SONG EVER
“Love me till my heart stops”…such a simple line but is honestly so deep.
"I'm just an animal, looking for a home, sharing the same space for a minute or two ..."
Gets me every time.
I turned my 23 year old son onto the Talking Heads about a year and a half ago and he has become a big fan just like I was and still am. There music is timeless
Oh no. Are you one if those parents? 🙄
@@danceswithcomicbooks7733 Is there any reason you're being so confrontational with people?
Best song ever written category
Damn i wanna get back in this time of my life 😢😢
I want to but then I imagine not having my kids and they make my world livable
This song is sad and happy at the same time. One of the most fascinating songs I have ever heard. Totally different. Guess, I will never ignore him.
I cant explain the grip this song has on me. It fills me with joy and sadness at the same time. The lyrics hit me on a personal level too. A masterpiece of a song.
I'm abliging to all who've written a comment. David Byrne a genius thanks to what you've brought to this 🌎 world thru your musical genius 🌴😎✌
This is the best song ever made, imo.

So many beautiful faces. Peace, harmony, joy. This video is priceless. Thanks for posting. 😂😂😂
Heard this age 13 when it came out - 40 years later it sounds better - I’ll love it till my heart stops - in my top 3 of all time tunes.

This song makes so much Sense in Todays world as it did way back in the 80s thank you to you tube for keeping all these precious Songs that would be lost forever....Alive and in our Hearts.....
