New to the channel? I do Let's Play videos -- these are like walkthrough guides of gameplay with continuous English commentary trying to explain my decisions and what strategy I use. If you're looking for hacks or cheats, you're in the wrong place! Игры
If you attack anyone - go after Spain. You will likely be at odds with religion, whereas Japan should be friendly if you have good military + good faith.
To take the churros luxury resource? :D
Churros best luxury resource, +1
But they gave him Churros. You NEVER betray someone who gave you churros.
Civilization VI: Quest for the perfect campus location
I am so happy for the mass upload of these, I am just watching them back to back and can't get enough
+1
+1'd. I saw Yogscast Rythian's one go up, and got to watch a bit of TB's stream, but I've been itching to be able to watch a bunch at once. Good thing I remembered Quill's channel, which for some reason I was not subbed to. No idea why, I watch his series from time to time.
Yogscast's "one 15 min vid per year" is so annoying and retarded and forced, that it makes me shiver.
Wow, you didn't go for Stonehenge, or even research Irrigation for the Hanging Gardens on PRINCE difficulty. I'm rioting.
Wow, those Civ leaders are High Def.
They look so good, espically compared to rest of game
I too was a sceptic, then I went out of my septic and found what seemed eclectic to be increasingly electric!
Yaratoma its skeptic. Nice try. I'm skeptical that you are ethical. Find the relics
Irishman I’m a little late but it’s sceptical unless you live in the US
"Some people are gonna be new to the channel and will be a little confused by that". Dude. I've been following you for years and I still don't get what's up with that Brussels joke.
he once said that brussels was the capital of france.
In Quill's first ever civ 5 game back in 2010 (playing as Babylon) Quill made the mistake of thinking that Brussels was a French city after meeting them in-game; the subscriber reaction and thereafter self-correction in the next video made the joke of Brussels actually being a french city, and Brussels in general, the oldest running joke on the channel.
People need to get out more -_-
That's a lot of work. I'd rather just sit on my ass.
I've been watching quill for years now
"Brussels is the capital of France" TRIGGERED
Philip II's dumb, smug face when he becomes friendly towards you might just be the funniest thing I've seen all day.
That massive long mountains range that goes from NW towards SE is spectacular! And the great lake near Toronto that actually makes it so damn hard to pass, what a natural wonder huh?
Would like to have seen more attempts at wonders. It's only prince and there's shiny new cinematics to show off.
"I'm gonna lay down a Veto on that", he is in Rome, vetoing stuff! :-)
quill forgets he is playing prince difficulty and not deity xD
I love the fighting animations between units. I don't think I will ever get tired of it.
3:28
I don't know why, but I absolutely lost it at "This guy can Triforce"
got me to man
Wow that smile Philip.
Dude, so excited for this game. Thanks for posting these so close together.
As soon as I saw Philippe's smiling face I just couldn't help but laugh. He's like so happy.
Oh my god, the leader of Congo is so cute! I watched the trailer for all the civs, but seeing him in action with that warm smile and smooth as hell voice... Oh dear...
Kongo =/= Congo
Kongo is a kingdom, Congo is a democratic republic
Ongo bongo.
+LeaderofChickens ...and just a regular republic.
LeaderofChickens Thank you. My bad.
Patrick Bunney
"This guy can tri-force." Genuinely wheezed with laughter for the first time in a while. Stay golden Quill.

delicious
I love the Garrison Keillor quote.
I was skeptical of this art style but I think King Phillip here won me over. He's so great.
When you didn't get Stonehenge I'm pretty sure you forgot you were playing prince
I've been wondering for almost 2 years what the Brussels - France reference is... But watching all your older civilization videos is a daunting prospect.
pretty sure it's early on in his first Civ V game
Nope, he saw Brussels as a city state and said that he thought it was a city in France.
thank you! finally I know.
+2 per citizen clearly means what civ 5 called specialists. I can see the Library gives you a citizen slot for the district.
Ugh, that's so confusing. It does look like specialist slots, but they're calling population as a whole "citizens" as well.
Ye, but it instantly made sense to me. You build the district, then build buildings into the districts that give you slots, into which you can stuff citizens. Like, lategame you can have 4 people working on a single tile. This means you can now see all your citizen working on the tile display, not one half on the tiles, the other half in a seperate 'Specialists' tab.
Also note that quill himself said that was how it worked in the LAST video.....then promptly went and completely forgot how it worked in the, what, 5 minutes between them? This is one of the things that make his videos so frustrating to watch. That, and his apparent inability to actually READ TOOLTIPS and descriptions.
Starfury MS I have a feeling that the 'changes' video was recorded after he played the Rome game and uploaded it first.
not talking about the 'changes' video. He was talikng about it in, literaly the previous 'lets play' video, when he was trying to decide where to put his second city.
this is going to slow so i love watching your videoes before i go to bed, you make it really easy to sleep
22:16
Dat smug face xD
Profile pic checks out.
Its interesting watching these because I would make so many different decisions. At 12:40 for instance, I would have gotten a trader set up, since Rome is set up for trading, then a builder, then a settler. Then maybe a military unit, then back to buildings.
I just watched episode 2 and was like
"Noooo,I can't wait"
and I saw this in my subscriptions as I closed the video
I cried when you didn't choose the toundra pantheon. COnsidering holy site gets +4 points next to a natural wonder and the fact that if it was next to the wonder it would also have +4 via the toundra it would make a 10 faith worth holy site.
I'm glad they fixed Laozi (usually known as Lao Tzu) from Wade-Giles, now to fix Sunzi (Sun Tzu).
It's the fresh water that adds plus 5 housing, and the palace adds 1.
I keep seeing Crater Lake as a natural wonder. I hope there is more variety in the release game.
Zailors, prepare for docking. We are approaching the Cumaen Canal.
- Just a random Zee Captain
Quill, the quote for Early Empire is from a prairie home companion, you should take a look at it, specifically News from Lake Wobegon
I'm really thinking that it might be a thing to just run a bunch of high promotion scouts as an early army. Not to expand but to sweep the lands clear of barbs. There is probably a rapid promotion policy in there somewhere.
I just looked it up, its called survey from code of laws.
I'm from Oregon and crater lake is here
22:22
how utterly ridiculous is carlos' grinning there? :D
IKR!
Just saw the IGN video on the nukes in the game.
Even more excited now, they went more hardcore with the nukes this time, they're devastating.
My 21st birthday is October 12th and Civ VI comes out October 21st. Drunken Civ VI playing here I come!
You should have been built an encampment or Stonehenge and leave the campus for city next to mountains.
lmfao we'll not be settling near you don't worry.... but these legions will conquer your lands instead!
Waaah! I want a demo so bad! Even if I am locked at Prince difficulty! (I usually use Warlord difficulty for my first play-through until I know how the new gameplay works.)
the triforce symbol is actually based on the hojo family's crest
"Some people will be new to the channel and will be a little bit confused by that..."
I only understood the joke after 3+ years on this channel.
Spain guys smile now that he is a friend is so fucking great :D
Damn so many of those resources look great
Rewatching this 4 years later and getting confused with not getting era scores, diplo favor and loyalty "issues". :D
Quill18 the hard cap fore pop is housing +5 you just get a increasing growth penalty
I love how basically everybody's response to the Hojo Clan Symbol is "TRIFORCE!"
Notice how the borders became solid now. Does that mean the initial primitive-age "units can enter any borders" is over now?
Like having become a closed borders nation state now?
9:36 look a the city state borders, as he ended that turn it also became solid borders. Wonder what that represents.
I think one of the social techs enforces borders.
Yea, Empire i think it was.
It's not the palace that provides housing, Cumae does not have access to freshwater, limiting it's housing capabilities!
I am fond with pigs
Rome is so badass OP. You get a free Monument in each city and free roads built. It's like an inbuilt Tradition start. BTW, how do these trading posts work? Does everyone have them or is it a Rome thing?
is it possible to make all the boarders fluid around the cities? Not a fan of the hexagonal shapes it uses, reminds me of beyond earth..
Do you still need to focus on getting at least one unique lux in each city?
Wow, you actually founded Ostia on the coast!
The triforce is based of the symbol of the Hojo family in Japan? I think?
Dammit, I just wanna play!
What are the system reqs for this game? I need to have this:3
no, no, no, no, no. CS ain't gonna steal the classic quote from Rényi to Erdős: "A Mathematician is a machine for turning coffee into theorems".
4:35 Sean Bean spoils what happens at the end of this LP.
You should have taken Stonehenge instead of campus in Rome .
THIS! So many times, this. It could have 3 adjacent stone!!
No risk, no reward. The possible advantages would have been worth it. Religion in civ 6 is more powerful than in 5 and we now know that he would've beaten Spain to it by a couple turns. Missed opportunity.
Relative new to the channel. Can someone explain why he said that Brussels is the capital of France?
Ahahahahahaha.
In his 1st Civ V game on the channel he mistakenly called brussels as french city when he found it. the reaction from both the audience and his acknowledgement of his mistake the joke of Brussels being the capital of France
21:29 COFFEE!!! coffe, coffee, coffee....
Builders build 3-4 improvbements and then disappear, is that correect? Cause i build builders and they magically disappear after some time
CyStefanos Super late response, but yes builders have limited charges.
I'm not new to the channel and I'm still unsure I fully get the Brussels joke.
As with I.
Watch civ 5
I am really interested in how Quill will handle the warmongering penalties
You forgot about Brussels wanting a trader real quickly.
Quill you're on Prince haha just rofl stomp everything as Rome once you get those legions please
cafeine into code ... so true ... i'm going for another one then xD
Someone explain the brussels, capital of france line plz
Why is the civilian count at 22.00 reduced from 4 to 3?
Cumae will have big problem with grow (housing)
it supposed it's not the first time you play this so why not aware of this
"Cumae is gonna grow super-duper fast!" - .... until it hits its maximum population of..... 2.
is the advisor echoing?
so you will treat their people like the welsh?
Go check out the song light years from the movie red tails it awesome trust me
bringing back one of oldest jokes on the channel
Hojo's just really begging to be conquered.
21:12 steal city's away without steal :P
So close. Steel*
sorry, i thought it was steal :P
my english isnt the best
Dutchgames Pro It's both. Steel is the metal alloy, steal is the action of taking what doesn't belong to you. You can steal steel.
and if he can keep doing it, he can still steal steel.

"Your delegate learned that Japan has just received a foreign delegation. It appears they came from Rome." They're going to change that, right? Please tell me they're going to change that.
"I like it when people build wonders for me"
One does not simply build early wonders in Civilization
What did he mean by Brussels is the capitol of France?
due, you cant build/reaserch things that take 30+turns, when there are tecnologies and buildings with like 5 turn to choose from. it slows you WAY down. the game does not want you to go for legionares at 1720 bc. at this point your second city is garbage, guessing a builder first would have halfed the time a district would take. civ does not like you to rush TO much.
Mvemba a Nzinga looks exactly like Roger Mayweather for some reason.
3:35 he is ... link?
This game is insanely difficult to pick up
i thought campus gained a bonus from toundra ?
why don't you build it north ?
Unlesss I'm utterly blind or something, they don't. They get bonus just from Mountains (on any base tile, maybe here you're confusing things), other districts and rainforest/jungle tiles.
Is the pop drop after making a settler a new feature? I don't believe it was in Civ 5. Honestly not a fan of the change, but I do like most of the changes Civ 6 has.
It does that instead of decreasing your growth while a settler is building.
Not new, it's a throwback to the older games. Civ 2 dropped one pop for a settler (which did double duty as a worker), Civ 3 dropped two for a settler and one for a worker. Civ 4 and 5 just ate your food while you were building them.
Ah ok. Someone I forgot Civ 5 stopped growth. Makes sense now.
He said "for crying in France" for Brussels, Brussels is the capital of Belgium
Is it just me or are the roads quite hard to see? It was the same in civ5.
abit, yes.. but perhaps these become easier to see in fture era when they are pavement lol. one can hope :)
then turn to railroads perhaps?
is it editing or the game that jerks the camera to units very abruptly. it seems a bit jarring
same in civ 5, the whole.. lets jumpcut to whatever needs doing.. i turn it off i nciv occasionally. but it serves a purpose.. :)
17:38
What? isent Paris the capital of France???
You said cumae wrong.
Philip is basically the Jehovah's Witness of this game.
Poor Japan T_T. They where being so nice.
I have to say, I am not a fan of how the fog of war looks like.
