+Max “HiFiPanda” Mach I once had an amazing Empress with a 4/5/6 who ruled for 108 years, her Heir was 93 when she died. in that game I named a colony after her. this was on ET playing as Tuscany attempting to rebuild the Roman empire, cause you can actually become Rome as Italy in the game..
you do realise the series is literally called EU4: ASS right? but anyways, im _SO_ looking forward to this, my 2 favourite youtubers playing my favourite strategy-game together-ish!
Separate peace will make him still hate you since you didn't give him land in the final peace deal. For 30 years any allies will refuse to join your wars when promised land, and their trust of you drops by 20.
Not gonna lie, the original ck2 succesion game you did with arumba, shen and kailvin is how I found out about those 3 guys. It's just a great format for these games.
+Moayyad Ali Would be too long before players would be able to play again, some rulers can live up to 5 or 7 episodes of gameplay, and that if you play in a rather fast way, cruising along the years. But Neither Quill or Arumba does that except when there's nothing to do bu wait x)
+HMS “Epic0201” P. 5 to 7 episodes would be great in my opinion. Btw some times I have horrible luck having my leaders die within a month of rule :p Plus, nobody plays like Shen. His style is radically different compared to Quill's and Arumba's
I think it would have been a lot less confusing and a lot more hype-building if you two did an intro video together that was posted on both channels at the same time.
And that's why I don't watch him. He's too good, he blobs so much and so fast that after a while it gets really boring, and uninteresting. That's why I try to watch people who are bad-ok at the game when it's a game in which you can snowball really quickly and easily, like EU4.
When I read the title I thought it was just going to be multiplayer with you two at each others' throats over control of land, but this is far more interesting.
+Joshua Ford It depends how you look at it. It does take a while for the province to recover, but usually its only like 2 years and a few months after the war. Meanwhile, you can take a few ducats immediately, which especially early game can really supplement a players immediate income. There are arguments either way, I kind of see it as a wash because the negative long term seems about equivalent to the immediate short term benefits.
+Joshua Ford well depends on how long the war lasts. If it's a short one, then it might be better not to loot them, but if a war is going to last more than 2 years, then you can safely loot the provinces at least once.
The money made by looting is typically greater than than the sum income lost after taking the province, especially since it will have high autonomy and be a non-core for a while after the war so you'd barely make any money off it even if it wasn't looted. You also need to consider that money paid in the short term is always more valuable than an equal amount paid in the long term. When you're a poor nation war can easily put you into debt, and looting helps you maintain your economy longer during wartime. The only time looting is really detrimental is if you're doing a reconquest war and looting your own core. Generally you should prioritise looting the provinces you don't intend to take, but if that's difficult or impossible there's really no harm in looting provinces you intend to conquer.
I'm so exited for this! I love your EU play through's and will be interesting to watch when the game goes to Arumba. You should make it so he can't watch your videos so he won't know what he's dealing with right when he starts.
Quill, don't forget to add Arumba's vids to your playlist. I caught it just before the advert finished and was able to go view the other vids before getting the spoilers :D
+ozis ponas I presume they will wait a week or even two for the main fix patches to come out. Currently the devs are releasing hotfixes for the critical issues (like Crash-to-desktop level stuff). But in a week or two will the first broader bug fix patch likely to come out, estimating by Paradoxs past record.
+sitrilko i hope in a month or two. The game really is not worth playing right now, so many things still obviously in development. But it will be awesome when its ready.
Yaaah! Really love the MP stuff, I do also hope their will be a Stellaris MP, maybe not with NorthernLion (he does not seem to play it?), but should be possible to find one more?
Why only Arumba, why no Shner or more of other players? I found your chanel with CK2 sucsesion series btw, so it's a great idea to have more people on this project ;)
If you hadn't called in your ally I believe that the enemies ally would have needed to get access through them so in essence would have been unable to fight
+RarePepeGaming The next person will probably still take over since it is a regency for that person's character. Example: Quill's king dies. Heir is too young. Therefore Arumba takes over because the regency council is for his character.
+RarePepeGaming I would say that it passes to the next player. The Regency for a ruler is still part of that ruler's reign in a way. Getting a few back to back might make things mildly awkward.
Im doing an Inca campaign and i have fully westernized and caught up to the western powers technology. Whenever i go to battle with Great Britain he destroys me even though i have almost twice as many troops as him and equal generals, pretty new to this game can anyone tell me why this is happening?
Rather a bit late but maybe either you forgot to change troop types from the bad early troops to the later type of troops, since I don't think just ideas would let them punch twice above their weight
Good God, I bought Civilization 5 just now. Running Win 7 Professional 64bits. All sys reqs are met. DirectX9 and X11 are updated, so are the VCredist and my nvidia drivers. Everytime I try to play the game I get past the loading screen in the main menu, then, after 1 or 2 clicks I make the game freezes, no crash pop-ups, just freezes. I check at the CTRL-ALT-DEL-thingy (don't know the name of it in english) and it lists as Not responding. I've tried some of the tips from the comunnity, such as deleting all video files in the /Assets/Expansions folder, and before it forcing the game to skip the intro, none of it worked. Any ideas? Currently away from the computer, will download it again soon to try making it run. Please help me you wonderful people, I need to drop some nuclear bom - I mean spread peace and love.
Lol. Troops attached and would have walked away so he gains control of the siege. What does he do? Makes them up-attach , so they DO stay and control it. Earlier, mentions losing stability due to no-CB wars, and I just watch his 2 idle diplomats with sadness... COME ON!
+Ivan BIndarovich Some people play for fun and not efficiency. Compared to myself, Quill is very efficient. It will be interesting to see how Arumba handles this
+Smutnovsor unless it's an interregnum, you still have an heir (so Arumba would be playing), and you'd play until that heir dies, though due to the regency council you couldn't go war offensively until you turn 15+. In the case of an interregnum (no ruler, no heir) I imagine whoever was playing when it happened will keep playing until an heir is born or a new monarch is declared.
African Succession Synergy? I mean, props on the subtle ASS joke, but it sounds a bit forced. After a few minutes of looking through a dictionary, I've come up with "Abrupt African Alternation," or "Absolute African Absonance," or any other combination of those words. (If it's not clear, I stopped at around ab- in the dictionary, which is obviously not far, but I have a short attention span and I'm hungry, so looks like that's as far as I go.) Looking forward to the rest of the series!
Knight Elfarion A regency can last for quite some time, followed by a new ruler that comes in at a young age, I can see how that would shake things up, hence the question. Not to mention you could consider that the regency itself is its own ruler... Since it is a seperate state of rule.
"we have dabbled in the northern african nations before" -watches Arumba ruin Northerlion as Songhai.
Rename your leaders after yourselves so you can track them for us in the ledger.
+Joshua Ford well quill named his heir arumba, so i think that is already planned
Good. lol
Play until death of ruler?! Here comes 0/0/0 immortal bastard for either Arumba or Quill..
+Max “HiFiPanda” Mach Quickly followed by the 0/4/1 who comes to power at age 60+.
Of course it will be one year after the death of Alexander at the ripe age of 20
Yes. Yes! YES YES YES!..
... oh, its not a multiplayer? Well its AMAZING non the less!
That's what I thought, but this seems fun!
+sitrilko Yeah it's really nice, was starting to run out of lp's and videos to watch before bedtime!
you do realise the series is literally called EU4: ASS right?
but anyways, im _SO_ looking forward to this, my 2 favourite youtubers playing my favourite strategy-game together-ish!
+flog353 you know it was on purpose. I would be disappointed in Quill if it wasn't.
+flog353 Well, Ass is also German for ace, so it's somewhat fitting that way.
Aww i tought it would be Arumba and Quill playing at the same time, but ehh this is realy nice as well.
This is not the lets play we deserved, but it is the one we need right now.
I hope Quill is ready for a rant from Arumba about how bad he is at the game after every succession.
+Drav Mtp he didn't even assign his merchant:P
Separate peace will make him still hate you since you didn't give him land in the final peace deal. For 30 years any allies will refuse to join your wars when promised land, and their trust of you drops by 20.
In my Rwanda game i had 2000 sailors and did not even have coastal provinces :p they sure love to swim in those lakes.
+Inhimilis Not sure if that's a feature, or intended...
+Inhimilis If the Swiss can have a Navy, so can the Rwandans!
This is a great idea for a play through love both you and arumba. Cheers!
Not gonna lie, the original ck2 succesion game you did with arumba, shen and kailvin is how I found out about those 3 guys. It's just a great format for these games.
AWSOME!!!
But why not more RUclipsrs? With shenryyr this series would've been amazing. I'm guessing this has already been prerecorded....
Awesome*
+Moayyad Ali Would be too long before players would be able to play again, some rulers can live up to 5 or 7 episodes of gameplay, and that if you play in a rather fast way, cruising along the years. But Neither Quill or Arumba does that except when there's nothing to do bu wait x)

Plus, nobody plays like Shen. His style is radically different compared to Quill's and Arumba's
I second that x)
+Moayyad Ali What's so different about his playstyle?
I think it would have been a lot less confusing and a lot more hype-building if you two did an intro video together that was posted on both channels at the same time.
Arumba is s much more effective, this should be an awesome series to see the different play styles
And that's why I don't watch him. He's too good, he blobs so much and so fast that after a while it gets really boring, and uninteresting. That's why I try to watch people who are bad-ok at the game when it's a game in which you can snowball really quickly and easily, like EU4.
Love the idea of this series Quill. Can't wait to see how different your country ends up given how different your's and Arumba's play styles are.
You did the worst possible peace. Why not separate peace the other guy for money and war reps once you decided to give nothing to your ally?
And allies DO count is as getting land in the war if you separate peace.
Time to see who screws up first!
Oh, that is a nice surprise.
Will be great to see, how you guys ruin each others realm. :P
Nice to see somebody reviving the old succession game again, used to love doing these in civ 4 and old PBEM (play by email) stuff.
Thank you Arumba for putting all the videos in one playlist...
Your Ally lost 20 trust, also you shoulda seperate peaced the other enemy
When I read the title I thought it was just going to be multiplayer with you two at each others' throats over control of land, but this is far more interesting.
you really shouldnt loot provinces you plan on taking during wars because you get their negative effects when you peace out.
+Joshua Ford It depends how you look at it. It does take a while for the province to recover, but usually its only like 2 years and a few months after the war. Meanwhile, you can take a few ducats immediately, which especially early game can really supplement a players immediate income. Quill, don't forget to add Arumba's vids to your playlist. I caught it just before the advert finished and was able to go view the other vids before getting the spoilers :D
cool idea for a series!
+Ahmad Sammy Actually it existed for long. Quill played two CK2 succession multiplayer series.
+Natheniel Becken Yeah, but this kind of format fits well in CK2. In EU4 it's a bit of a different story.
LOVE the succession idea between you guys!
WOW, so we get to see Arumba fixing Quill's mistakes. Then we get to see Quill mess it up again, FUN!
2 of the best RTS/4X players collab ? Yes please.
stellaris mp play trough when ?
+ozis ponas I presume they will wait a week or even two for the main fix patches to come out.
Currently the devs are releasing hotfixes for the critical issues (like Crash-to-desktop level stuff). But in a week or two will the first broader bug fix patch likely to come out, estimating by Paradoxs past record.

The game really is not worth playing right now, so many things still obviously in development.
But it will be awesome when its ready.
if you'd made peace before you ally stackwiped the enemy army, he wouldn't have demanded any land. his participation was quite low
it's no mp session but wow am I happy to have you two play the same game. if only you, arumba, and shenryyr did a campaign...
Oh man, I'm really exited for this series!
This is brilliant. Good job on you both.
YES! Been waiting for multiplayer (sorta) since common sense! I literally just started playing as Kongo a week ago.
This'll be cool. I've never seen a EUIV LP like this before.
That is amazing idea! Can't wait for how it will play out!
So begin the reigns of the legendary kings of Buha: Arumba and Kwill! ^_^
Oh man! OH MAN!! This sounds really fun, good luck ;D
Everytime Quill says "potent" take a sip of vodka.
You missed the chance to feed your ally and get gold by peacing the Northern dude separately first
+Xyzzyx Lol, I was screaming that at the screenXD
Yaaah! Really love the MP stuff, I do also hope their will be a Stellaris MP, maybe not with NorthernLion (he does not seem to play it?), but should be possible to find one more?
We need more series like dis
Very interesting video. Two minds, 1 goal.
Nice. I randomed up Buha just this week for a run. Halfway through the slog and I need to take a break and watch some professionals do it properly XD
Why only Arumba, why no Shner or more of other players? I found your chanel with CK2 sucsesion series btw, so it's a great idea to have more people on this project ;)
Respect to whoever(s) came up with the idea to switch upon death
GG Arumba. You chose someone who doesn't know how trust works to play with lol.
The best title acronym ever.
how about a multiplayer with northern lion and mathas again??
the multiplayer sessions with you four were my favourite eu4 videos
yayayayayay!! i didn't realize this existed, how fun
Merchants Quill!
Yes it is BACK!!!
Finally! I Succession Game! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Awesome. I love these.
What if your new leader dies immediately?
A really quick episode
It would be interesting if Arumba sought passage to the west, instead of the east.
THIS... IS THE GREATEST IDEA EVER!!!!!!
Quill, you and Arumba both need to stop army tab splitting your armies during a siege. It's a known thing for the past two years at least. :P
If you hadn't called in your ally I believe that the enemies ally would have needed to get access through them so in essence would have been unable to fight
I hope you will "upgrade" to 1.17. It fixes and reworks quite a bit of stuff in really good ways. Especially when it comes to Espionage Ideas.
This is so awesome!!!
Great idea!
KUBALUBA
+Squishy Legend lol the Paradox stream, I think it was Daniel he was torn between playing Kuba or Luba so he said KUBALUBA. It's now a meme ahaha.
hay quill I am new to Europa 4 and was wondering if you are using mods to get the noble, etc
didn't arumba do a tyol conquest on tokyo series in the region?
Who plays during Regency Council!?
+H. Guderian I'd say, the next player. Your turn ends, when your monarch is dead. Regencies are part of the next regime.
Cheers, Ivan :D
+H. Guderian Maybe the Ai :)
+Postron Oh god no
What happens if you get a regency?
Quill is now an african warlord :0
What happens when you get a regency counsel?
+RarePepeGaming The next person will probably still take over since it is a regency for that person's character. Example: Quill's king dies. Heir is too young. Therefore Arumba takes over because the regency council is for his character.
+RarePepeGaming I would say that it passes to the next player. The Regency for a ruler is still part of that ruler's reign in a way. Getting a few back to back might make things mildly awkward.
With Arumba? Wow =)=)

nice opener
I see this and I think of Prester John
You should do one of these series in CK2
Cool Idea
would be fun to conquer Africa as Buha
I'm trying to learn how to play this game. Anyone have any good tips/tricks to start out. I've had some difficulties.
France is asshole, austria likes ravensburg
Save all the points
Watch quills tutorials, start of with easy/simple countries (Portugal, Castile, France?, England?)
imma guess right here that arumba is not gonna do well hahahahaha
It will be interesting to see how Arumba handles this
You guys serious named your series "A.S.S."
and who will rule while there is no ruler and council is ruling instead? AI?
+Smutnovsor unless it's an interregnum, you still have an heir (so Arumba would be playing), and you'd play until that heir dies, though due to the regency council you couldn't go war offensively until you turn 15+.

I like it!
Do you play in 1.17 or 1.16?

inb4 Quill Gets Interragnum.
*gets save with 15 year regency* XD
what if regency consul occurred?
+caroxvladek Oh, good question!
I guess either when Regency council occur, it's the other's time, or after when there's a new leader
Arumba actually sounds like an African name xD
Any formable nations?
What about regency councils?
Ooosome, awesome, awsome, osm
What about regencies? Is there a way to let an A.I. take over the country during regencies?
Ask Northernlion if he can play trough the regency? That would be..... FUN
What about regency councils? Do those fall under the new ruler? Or what?
+Danjal Veskandar "Every time our king dies, we send the savegame to the other player."
Knight Elfarion
A regency can last for quite some time, followed by a new ruler that comes in at a young age,
I can see how that would shake things up, hence the question.
Not to mention you could consider that the regency itself is its own ruler... Since it is a seperate state of rule.
Danjal Veskandar True but I reckon they will just swap over and sometimes the swaps will just be longer.
it wil be a reall burhaha with burha lol
It would be funny if you instantly die and have to send it to arumba
how far into time can you go in EU 4 (timeline from and time where endgame is like 1444 to 2025 ) :D new to EU4 ...
EU4 ends at the end of the year 1820
oh :( it would be cool if someone made mod that goes far into present and future ... :D
+Timi Lebar there is one, capped extended timeline
+PraetorHog TheHybrid called*
awesome !
