    I’m so glad that I have found your channel, it’s now my number one channel. You have an incredible talent, absolutely mind blowing, perfection. You show how truly beautiful but sometimes unforgiving the African wild life is. I know it’s nature, but thank you for not showing any kills. Stay happy and well. God bless. ❤ 🇦🇺

    Great episode as always, Byron.
    I did 3 nights in Marakele this March and saw... not a single mammal 😊 Not even an Impala 🙈 But then as I was packing up at Tlopi, a Malachite Kingfisher came right to my tent and just posed for a thousand pictures. It really was a dream sight. I've seen nothing on both my Marakele trips, but they were still amazing 🙏

    Ever since I first visited Marakele I've been lured back. Not for the abundent sightings as you experienced on this trip but for the beauty of the park, the peace and rest I find there. I have visited six times in the last two years in all seasons. I've seen lions twice (60 second sightings), leopard once (in and out of sight in the distance) and hyena once yet I still want to spend more time there. What I love the most are the rhino sightings, in all thier full majestic horned glory. The male rhino in this video is an exceptional example and there are not many places to see this. That alone was worth the trip. As for the mountains, well there isn't another park that can compare and when you can view the vultures taking flight above the cliffs it's even better.
    Enjoy the WildWild Journeys and keep sharing!

      Thanks for sharing that - I agree fully. Like you said, there’s a certain lure about Marakele. I feel like it’s a very meditative place. Great point on the majestic Rhinos too 💯

      @@WildWildJourneys the largest or second largest (Marakele vs Blouberg) Cape Vulture colony in South Africa. Awesome to watch them take flight in the morning and catch the thermals. In the afternoon you can see them above the mountains opposite the view point coming in to roost for the night.

    I could really relate to your feeling about not seeing Lions and needing to come back.
    Cheetah is probably my favourite animal and I couldn't find it on my first visit to South Africa (and Kruger) so one year later I felt the need to fly again. Luckily I could see a male and a female from a distance on my last day on my 2nd visit. To be fair - It still wasn't enough for me and on my 3rd visit I managed to watch a female and 2 cubs from quite close. I enjoyed it SOOO much. After my 3rd visit, I stopped lying to myself - I come back every year not because I didn't see X or Y, I'm coming back because I'm having a great time and I enjoy the animals I do see (Lions, Kudu, Elephants, Giraffes, even Impalas!). I should be grateful to be able to watch these animals in their natural habitat.
    Great video, again. The Rhino sighting was beautiful. I'm sure you'll find your Lions next time :)

    Another great episode
    Thanks Byron great way to start my wrek
    The part about speaking about failure really spoke to me, I feel its so easy for myself to get grumpy when you dont find a specific sighting...but it doesnt have to be seen as a failure
    I also find it almost funny how in the other episodes the lions play a vital role but for some wierd reason Marekeles lions dont want to play ball...

    • @WildWildJourneys
      @WildWildJourneys  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks Christiaan! Yup, I’ve had to learn the ‘failure doesn’t exist’ thing a few times to really understand it…
      Right? Lions have been so kind to me everywhere else. I feel like Marakele is mysterious like that. It always wants me to find something abstract that I’m not looking for.

    So my wife is from South Africa, she immigrated to the USA over 20 years ago. I had never been to SA before. We went in 2021 as a new wedding honeymoon and again in 2022 to bring our new born son to see family. It would be the first time she had been back in over 10 years to see some of her family. I just wanna say, I completely fell in love with the country. The raw natural beauty. There is definitely something special about it. And I too, feel the call to the bush. Every time I hear a certain song, thing of an animal, I am immediately transported back. Waiting for the day to return once again. Keep doing what your're doing. ruclips.net/video/Tt0vFQViYng/видео.html
