The firmware update was a big bonus for Pint X owners. Buying the footpads was a good move, and it’s a good plan to ride the tire until it wears out. The one I tried probably wore unevenly, which caused some speed wobbles.
Nice review! I liked adding the other riders' takes, so we can see a variety of experiences on it. Agreed that it doesn't really merit a different model name. If anything, something like they did with the rally edition, to acknowledge the accessories without claiming better motor. As for your next step, at your height and weight, I think you'd probably have to pick either torque headroom and speed, or nimble form factor. Dropping a GTV kit in your gt is a great board, with plenty of speed and torque. But it's not light and small. You could sell your GT and have Mario build you a lighter XR board (VESC). But even if you vesc the pint you won't get confidence at 20+ unless you're 150 lbs! 😅 Good luck with the decisions, and I look forward to seeing your journey online!
Thank you, John! I would like to have a lighter and more nimble board that is safe to ride at my weight. The speed isn’t the priority. I think your suggestion of getting Mario to build me a lighter VESC makes a lot of sense. Thanks for watching and commenting your suggestion!
Pushback depends on your weight and tire pressure. I weigh 195 lbs. If I pump the tire up to 20 PSI as it comes from the factory I hit pushback at 19.5 on Pint S, riding pavement not trail.
Interesting! Perhaps I'll try it again at a higher tire pressure and have one of the lighter riders record their speed. Thanks for sharing your perspective!
2:05 No matter how you look at it - it really is fast! Now imagine that you suddenly fall and are falling head over heels. In that respect this board is damn fast!!!

Very happy I made the move to purchase the new Ps & still keep my Gt I've had for 2 years now. Definitely love the pintS especially beings I have the same performance tread tire on my Gt so I'm already used to that tire but dam does it feel better on the pintS for sure & absolutely love those flared foot pads 😎 so dam dope 🔥
I’m glad you’re enjoying your board. I agree that Pints are super fun to ride. That’s why I’m considering selling my GT to get one. My GT S-Series is there for performance the Pint S would be there for a fun, carvy ride. I might have to make it into a Pint V to get more performance out of it though.

@@followdon if you do please make a video! I’ve looked at the VESC but I have no background in the electrical field So that stuff looks like gibberish’s to me lol
@@followdon I haven’t built on the Pint platform, it’s not really something I’ve yet been into. Just did a couple of GT builds, one of which I have a long video on coming out this weekend. Pricing ranges, a full build can be between $2400-3200, a GT conversion to VESC can be between $500-$2600 depending on how much oomph you want to put into a project. There’s a good array of parts from different places that can come together to make something pretty hefty.
@TheBoardGarage I don’t feel like the GT S-Series is lacking in anyway that would make me want to invest in something more powerful. Extra range would be nice, but it isn’t a priority. The Pint-based builds are interesting to me because they’d provide a different ride feel. But the FM Pint options are underpowered for heavy riders like me. I’m looking forward to your new video!
@@followdon I believe it’s based on the XR. But with unlimited options to adjust it how you want it you can get that Pint feel. My biggest gripe with Onewheel is the ability to level my boards.
What was your psi tho? That makes a huge difference my pint x pre firmware update with the 18 mph top speed would buzz at advertised speed with the psi they recommend in The manual, (17-20) otherwise if you have lower psi then increased rolling resistance... and then the pint x would buzz at 15 to 16 so the speed was there...
@WyattPhillips-zh4kc I’ll be sure to check the PSI before my next test. Thanks for calling this out. Are you able to hit 20 on your Pint X now? I also had a lighter rider, @mygoalfaster test. Unfortunately I lost his footage. He weighs 145 and hit buzz in the mid-18s. The tire pressure was likely the factory default. We were riding a local vendor’s board.
@@followdon I’ve had the Burris trail pro for pint x, and now the s series treaded. Never tried anything over 25 psi, but at that pressure I’ve noticed crazy differences is speed, range, power, and shape of the tires. I’m 140 ish lbs and hit haptic buzz at 19 in pacific and can hit twenty when I need it for just a quick throttle, hard to hold it there for long. Again at 25 psi. I’m curious if the tires could take 30 psi, because I set the bead at over 50….
These boards are simply reskined pint x boards with a firmware update. It seems to me this was all a big business move to boost sales of the pint x inventory.
Yes, esk8 and EUC beat Onewheels for speed (and range in many cases) for sure! I don’t care as much about the speed for my backup board. Mainly the ride feel and that it has sufficient torque to be a safe ride. I’m happy with the speed and power on my GT S-Series.
I have E-Skate, Pint X and Gt, and I reach for the ease and carveabilty of my Pint X every single time. Being able to stop and go backwards without turning around. Or even just turning around in a tight circle is so much easier. E-Skate, I have to stop and pick the board all the time. Plus you don't need a controller
Hi! I had a Pint X but I found it too unstable. My choice is now between the Pint S or the GT-s. I would like to cruise on streets and trails also. Any advices? Thanks😊
For stability, the GT S-Series has the advantage due to the wider tire, footpads, and the perceived stability that comes from the torque. The prices are vastly different between Pint S and GT S. The Pint S will feel the same as the X at its core, but the footpads will give you more room for your feet. No matter which board you choose, you’ll want to practice to improve your stability.
@@followdon Thanks for your answer! Does the new tire of the Pint-s give you more stability and confort compared to a slick tire on a pint X? If I had the garantee that the pint--S IS more confortable and stable than than the Pint X, I will probably choose it. However if the GT-s is really more stable, don't you think the price worth it? Thanks for your help:)
The performance treaded tire on the Pint S is better than the slick. But I wouldn’t say its characteristics make it more stable. The GT S-Series is a different class of board. The wider tire makes it more stable than the Pint. It’s the best Onewheel Future Motion makes for a rider like me that enjoys the speed and torque advantages.
That’s my exact experience. My top speed on the GT is 23.7 mph. Since I have the GT S, I don’t really need another fast board. But I don’t want something that’s going to nosedive on me when it hits rougher terrain.
That’s exciting! It’s still a fun board to ride if you adjust your expectations for speed. As a heavier rider, I’d feel safer it has more torque. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!
As someone who has a Pint S and GT, I can confirm it's not hitting 20 MPH. It's not like the GT where you'll hit 20 MPH and not even know, because you're not thinking about it. As an 180lb rider, I'm typically cruising at 16-17 MPH which is ok given it's a Pint, but it's not the 20 MPH as advertised, which would've made me not buy this board TBH if I had known. Unfortunately, I bought it when it first came out so there weren't a lot of videos to watch on it and the ones that did exist mentioned this issue, but said it could just be lack of a software update, which doesn't seem to be the case...
Yes. It’s a bummer that you have to discover these things after buying and trying them. Especially because open boards are non-returnable. I hope you’re still having fun with it!
@@c0pyimitati0n FM lied. You’re not hitting 20 MPH on the Pint S and if you somehow do, you had to fight against pushback. I’ve had the board for two weeks I think and my top speed is 18.5 which isn’t me intentionally going at the speed but more so the board maxing out there.
@@followdon I am. I’m ok with it maxing out at 18 even though we were sold a Pint X with some better accessories lol. I only got it so I can ride the same board with my GF when I buy her one also since I know if she’s on this and I’m on a GT, ima want to leave her behind 😂.
My dude. It’s there but FM isn’t giving it to you. I’ve got a Pint X-V kit in mine and it’s amazing. 19-20mph with no haptic or pushback unless you want it to in settings. I’m 160-165 and it’s amazing. I’ll be doing a review on our channel at some point in the near future. Don’t dismiss it quite yet! Also, if you want to chat you can feel free to hit me up! -Tyler Hamline
The only thing that sucks is you’re paying over $400 for another 2 mph. I almost went vesc on my pintX, but the cost/benefit didn’t convince me it’s worth it.
Watch out PintS riders. Mine completely shut down at 18mph throwing me onto the pavement. No warning. No heptic - no pushback. Just shut off. Horrible experience. There is something going on with these boards. Be aware. I'm not the only one to have this happen to.
After riding my pint for the first time in 6-8 months I was thrown off it twice because the motor stopped mid ride at 10MPH. Like a jitter in the motor. Can you help me find out why this is happening?
That’s scary! Do you know which shaping setting you’re riding (e.g. Pacific)? Definitely reach out to Future Motion. Their contact info is in the footer of onewheel.com.
@followdon oh that’s awesome! I used to ride my diy ebike down capital crescent, past Georgetown and the Kennedy center and loop around Hains! Maybe I’ll come down next Sunday when the hurricane has passed.
Yeah, when I think about it, Pint Math has never added up. Saying an OG Pint goes 16 mph is pretty ludicrous. And since they started with those claims, they had to scale up the overstatement as they released the Pint X and S.
you can push it into the 20s, but you'll go down. respect it's 18mph limit and you'll be just fine. probably shouldn't go that fast if you're as old as I am. 190lbs.
Is it worth it, I’d say get a Pint X and upgrade the firmware then move on to the dark side of Onewheels and convert it to VESC. My PintXV smokes my GTS reaching speeds over 25mph with the same battery capacity as the stock pint X/S but with more torque.
@@followdon AvaSpark Pint VESC Kit and Indy Speed Control Custom 20S1P P45B 21700 battery pack and an Enduro Mid compound tire and had to get a hardware kit for missing screws and battery and controller screws bases on just having a controller and battery box to work with
I’d love to try that. My first VESC experience was a little meh, but it was tuned to the preferences of the rider who let me try it, and the tire pressure was low. I believe in VESC, but I need to spend more time with it.
My Hot Take on that: For safety reasons, the GT S-Series should be the power standard for all Onewheels. You have to push it to truly unsafe speeds to get a nosedive.
It’s definitely a 20mph board, just have to learn how to push it to 20mph. I’m 196lbs and I was able to push a pint X with S firmware to 20mph. However, it still sucks at hill climbing compared to a VESC pint. It really isn’t a pint S it’s a rebranded pint X with a tire that sucks and foot pads that also suck.
Can’t understand why they didn’t upgrade the headlight. To be as good as XR. It still sucks for nite riding. Literally the only negative thing about this board
Get comfortable and Get all the ppe. Like riding a bike, the slower you go the harder it is to keep balance toe and heel side. Go a medium slow, not too fast speed. Building those knee and balance muscles is key to gaining stamina! Good luck and float on my friend!
1. Learn to jump off the board with both feet at the same time. This way you can jump to safety at a stop or very low speeds. 1B. Turn on Simple Stop to start. I found that the hardest thing starting out was getting off the board, and that’s when most beginner injuries happen. Once you’re comfortable on the board, start trying the heel lift or even quick stop. But that comes later. 2. Lower your tire pressure to make the board more stable. Rule of thumb is your weight in pounds divided by 10. But you might want to lower than by 2-3 psi when starting out for more stability. Get an electronic air pump if you don’t have one, they’re handy. 3. Practice putting pressure on your toes on one foot, your heel on the other (counterbalancing), and viceversa. You can practice and get a feel for it off the board. You’ll do this subconsciously in no time, but for now know how you can twist and balance on the board. Lastly, wear a helmet! 😊 Have fun!
Everyone is sharing great tips here! I’ll add some things about mindset that I think will help. I sucked at Onewheeling for a solid week before things started to click. I was worried I wasted my money on a board I couldn’t return. Give yourself grace and some time to push through the learning curve. Definitely master your dismount as a first priority. Jumping off with two feet at the same time - ensuring you get off of the sensor pad on the front with the light on it is really important for safety. Simple stop was helpful for me in the beginning. The heel lift took me another few weeks to learn. I tell beginners NOT to “try to balance the board”. The board is self-balancing. It will handle the front to back balance. You’re responsible for heel to toe balance. When you try to balance it, you give the board new inputs to respond to. It responds quickly to shifts in weight, so it’s best to stay relaxed and only make subtle moves. Be mindful about your foot placement. Evenly distribute your foot with equal toe and heel overlap on the footpad. If you’re too toe or heal heavy you’ll have to overcompensate to return your balance to center and you’ll fatigue faster. Keep your center of gravity over the tire and shift your weight using your hips. Keep your eyes focused on where you’re trying to go. Not on your feet. Turn your shoulders and eyes in the direction you’re headed. Tumbles will happen. Please wear a helmet. Elbow pads and wrist guards don’t hurt either. Here are my beginner videos: ruclips.net/p/PLMChOH7CfkCC6So52h1dRuMaZYPZxi18f
Definitely try dropping psi below 14 if you haven’t and it will be a lot less tippy. I like 12.5 psi at my 160 lb. 11 is even smoother but I lose a little pop on bonks if going to low. I know others who ride as low as 10psi.
100% that it is not deserving of the S moniker. It's just a bundle board PintX. I think FM rushed / made this release on the fly as some half-measured response to the PintV kit. Put one in that lime X and let's see a comparison between PintS & PintV!!
Pint V is sounding really good to me these days! Perhaps Future Motion is trying to sell through the Pint X inventory and make room for an actual new Pint flagship.
Hells No on the S for you, how you ride it will not be enough board/range/power. You carve, but most often you just FLY nose heavy like your late for something. I was suprised when you got the GTS being the range was not as good. I think if you want one just pick it up and tell yourself it's for friends when they come over to justify it. And let the stable grow!
LOL. Often, I ride fast because I am late for something. If I bought a Pint S, I would likely transform it into a Pint V to get the extra torque. But I think I’ll wait until there is a new product release. I haven’t been bothered by the GT S range as much as I thought I would.
@@followdon it's just like on the XR, it doesn't hit 19mph without a little extra poosh, at least for my fat ass 😂 I gotta bend my knees to really get in the flow and then I'm hitting 24mph and I'm 6' 230lbs
@c0pyimitati0n The XR had a very mellow pushback curve before the Haptic Buzz update. It was possible to exceed 20 mph without the Captain Morgan stance. It isn’t the same feeling for Pint S or X.
I have a pint x and I have had a blast on it but honestly this type of thing is really frustrating to me. It's just false advertising which feels dishonest to me. Plane and simple. Do I need to go 20mph all the time? No. But if the limit is 18 just say it's 18! I didn't even know that the top speed was accurate on the other boards (GT platform) until watching all these videos and I feel cheated honestly. There is competition out there that is starting to look very enticing. It's a serious bummer as I wanted to love the Future Motion company and support made in California but with the battery pack wiring issue coming out and the false advertising on speed it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
I agree! Onewheels are fun and have a unique ride feel. To compare it to other PEVs using stats like speed doesn't make sense. The Pint S is a fun to ride 18 mph board.
My GT collects dust because I always reach for my fastest and safest board, the GT S-Series. If I had a different form factor available, I might occasionally go for the smaller board. If I had unlimited storage space in my apartment and unlimited dollars, I’d probably have all the boards and experiences at my disposal 😅
It’s sad that FM released a pint S wannabe when compared to the jump from GT to GTS when the motor, controller, and battery were all upgraded. That’s a true S upgrade not this nonsense pint S when it’s really a pint X with foot pads and tire upgrade. VESC is the future. ruclips.net/video/vavHkPGQjW8/видео.html
1:21 FM false advertising need sued to stop lying about performance of their product, it is dangerous to try hit 20mph on that with it starting pushback and haptic buzz @ 18mph, FM greed still showing with this “old pint-x” an couple minor changes raising price🤦♂️
It does seem like blatant false advertising. The Pint S seems to be priced fairly. It’s the original price of the Pint X before the 10th-anniversary discount, and it has a much better default setup. But it’s just a rebranded X and not a new product-just a new tire, firmware, and rail color.
@@followdon as technology ages and manufacturing gets easier prices are supposed to drop, people accepting this from companies is the problem, old tech supposed to lower in price so new tech can come in at that price but instead all these greedy companies think it’s ok to keep charging new technology prices for old tech then bring new tech out at even higher prices, appreciate your videos
So sorry to hear that! I have a RUclips friend who tried one and broke his foot before he was supposed to run a marathon. Riding is definitely risky. You have to master dismounting first to reduce your risk of injury.
Not cool of FM to sell it as a 20mph board just to have you push through the safety features to get there. They told other riders who emailed them that "only the most skilled of riders can reach 20mph." Like wtf is that about?

Very happy I made the move to purchase the new Ps & still keep my Gt I've had for 2 years now. Definitely love the pintS especially beings I have the same performance tread tire on my Gt so I'm already used to that tire but dam does it feel better on the pintS for sure & absolutely love those flared foot pads 😎 so dam dope 🔥
There was only one other rider who commented and said the haptic didn’t hit until 19. Seems like it might be programmed at a pretty consistent speed.

The biggest advantage of the pint for me is that it fits in a school locker perfectly!
I love the size and weight advantages for Pint. I really want to have one alongside my GT S-Series!
Keep the GT
Right now it’s the only legit back up to the GTS!
I’m considering going VESC on the GT or making a Pint X-based VESC.
@@followdon if you do please make a video!
I’ve looked at the VESC but I have no background in the electrical field
So that stuff looks like gibberish’s to me lol
Same to me. For now, I’m borrowing a VESC from a local rider to feel it out. If I’m inspired, maybe I’ll take the next step and build one.
Sell the GT and use that to fund a custom VESC build from one of the best builders in the Northeast. 🤪
Not a bad idea! What would that run? Have you done VESC builds on the Pint X platform?
I’m looking forward to your new video!
nice review bro. you should give the x7 from fungineers a go.
If I had access to it locally, I’d give it a go.
I've got a Pint X that I had purchased the footpads for so it's all of the upgrades without the treaded tire. I'll trade you for the GT! Lol
Lol! I need that treaded tire and a little room in the budget to experiment with VESC! Thanks for the offer 🙏🏾
I say no, go vesc. We have in my house 4 Onewheels. Next board for me will be a vesc based board, Fungineers is calling me by my first name.
If I bought one, I'd turn it into a VESC. Does Fungineers have a Pint-based VESC?
@@followdon I believe it’s based on the XR. But with unlimited options to adjust it how you want it you can get that Pint feel. My biggest gripe with Onewheel is the ability to level my boards.
@@followdon Floatwheel makes a kit for the Pint.
@@followdon the floatwheel pintV kit is incredible, so worth it. Will also have an upgrade path to 84V
@@followdonno, AvaSpark @4_Fools has a kit which I used for my PintXV build, or there’s the PintV kit from Floatwheel
I’m 190lbs and encountered haptic buzz at 18mph also. Definitely misleading advertising, in my opinion.
Yes, I watched your video! It’s a bummer they mislead you with the advertising and won’t accept returns when the product doesn’t match their claims.
@tommyaccongio654 very interesting. Maybe I’ll give it another run at the higher PSI.
These boards are simply reskined pint x boards with a firmware update. It seems to me this was all a big business move to boost sales of the pint x inventory.
I agree! Hopefully, they're selling them to make room for an ACTUAL new product for the Pint platform.
if u want higher speeds, u should get esk8.. 25-30mph is doable with 300-800 dollar boards 💯✅🤘🏼
@Tangeffect yeah, I agree. Nothing like the ride feel.
I’m 225 and can only get 18. I get 21-22 out of my GT
That’s my exact experience. My top speed on the GT is 23.7 mph. Since I have the GT S, I don’t really need another fast board. But I don’t want something that’s going to nosedive on me when it hits rougher terrain.
Did/can you test the speed on Skyline? Apparently only this mode enables 20mph? Pacific max is limited to 18 on the specs. Would be good to know.
Interesting. I’ll test it out on Sunday and will make a short or a full video with an update. I’ll also be testing a VESC this week.
@@followdon Cool, saw diff max speeds listed on the firmware info for S. Hopefully get mine next week when they become available in the UK.
20mph is top speed though, not cruising speed
If I buy a Pint S, it will become a Pint V. Thanks for watching, Tyler. Please connect with me on Instagram!
That is steep. But I would probably do it for the torque, and the speed would be the icing on the cake.

Watch out PintS riders. Mine completely shut down at 18mph throwing me onto the pavement. No warning. No heptic - no pushback. Just shut off. Horrible experience. There is something going on with these boards. Be aware. I'm not the only one to have this happen to.
That's scary and I'm sorry that happened to you. I hope you're doing okay!
@@followdon I always ride skyline. I have the pint riding mastered like I rip on that thing. I’m wondering if from the haptic update ?
@MrDoordude125 hard for me to say. I haven’t ridden a Pint post the haptic buzz update.

That sounds incredible! Take some pics and vids!
Is this Hains Point in DC?
Bingo! Yes, it is! A local vendor brings Onewheels there for a demo every [dry] Sunday.
@followdon oh that’s awesome! I used to ride my diy ebike down capital crescent, past Georgetown and the Kennedy center and loop around Hains! Maybe I’ll come down next Sunday when the hurricane has passed.
Who is honestly surprised that Future Motion is still being slimy? No Pint can hit the posted speed, never could, still cant.
190lbs.
Yeah. The Pint would be there for fun leisurely rides. I wouldn’t push it the same way that I push the GT S-Series.
Is it worth it, I’d say get a Pint X and upgrade the firmware then move on to the dark side of Onewheels and convert it to VESC. My PintXV smokes my GTS reaching speeds over 25mph with the same battery capacity as the stock pint X/S but with more torque.
That’s wild. I’m interested in making that leap. All-in, what did you invest to make the conversion?
@@followdon AvaSpark Pint VESC Kit and Indy Speed Control Custom 20S1P P45B 21700 battery pack and an Enduro Mid compound tire and had to get a hardware kit for missing screws and battery and controller screws bases on just having a controller and battery box to work with
I’d love to try that. My first VESC experience was a little meh, but it was tuned to the preferences of the rider who let me try it, and the tire pressure was low. I believe in VESC, but I need to spend more time with it.
One wheel nose dives. Give us your feedback
My Hot Take on that: For safety reasons, the GT S-Series should be the power standard for all Onewheels. You have to push it to truly unsafe speeds to get a nosedive.
Also yea thats bs. Ain’t a 20 mph board AT ALL
I watched Jeff Barksdale’s video, and seeing the board advertised as such made me sad, especially since it’s non-returnable.
I’m feeling a little defeated. Just got my pint S and it took me for a tumble. I feel like I can’t balance on it. Any tips for beginners?
Get comfortable and Get all the ppe. Like riding a bike, the slower you go the harder it is to keep balance toe and heel side. Go a medium slow, not too fast speed. Building those knee and balance muscles is key to gaining stamina! Good luck and float on my friend!
Not trying to channel snipe! (Be sure to follow followdon!!!) My channel recently made a ‘for beginners tips and tricks’ that might be helpful for ya!
Here are my beginner videos:

To be fair, it looks like you're standing up really tall. It doesn't look like you're bending your knees very much at all.
Should I bend my knees to reach Haptic Buzz faster?
@@followdon it's just like on the XR, it doesn't hit 19mph without a little extra poosh, at least for my fat ass 😂 I gotta bend my knees to really get in the flow and then I'm hitting 24mph and I'm 6' 230lbs
@c0pyimitati0n The XR had a very mellow pushback curve before the Haptic Buzz update. It was possible to exceed 20 mph without the Captain Morgan stance. It isn’t the same feeling for Pint S or X.
@@followdon I didn't personally feel like pushback on the XR was very mellow but again I'm a fat fuck so that's gonna make it worse
It dumped me today 12mph no push back just dumped me in street with yellow error
That’s scary! Sorry that happened. Are you okay?
The Pint S is a fun to ride 18 mph board.
why sell ur GT just to buy another board? just buy/own both. 💯 the more boards the more experience. and its all about the experience ✔️
Agreed. But maybe this shows them there is demand for a high performance Pint-sized board.
@@followdon now we’re getting somewhere
1:21 FM false advertising need sued to stop lying about performance of their product, it is dangerous to try hit 20mph on that with it starting pushback and haptic buzz @ 18mph, FM greed still showing with this “old pint-x” an couple minor changes raising price🤦♂️
It does seem like blatant false advertising. The Pint S seems to be priced fairly. It’s the original price of the Pint X before the 10th-anniversary discount, and it has a much better default setup. But it’s just a rebranded X and not a new product-just a new tire, firmware, and rail color.
@@followdon as technology ages and manufacturing gets easier prices are supposed to drop, people accepting this from companies is the problem, old tech supposed to lower in price so new tech can come in at that price but instead all these greedy companies think it’s ok to keep charging new technology prices for old tech then bring new tech out at even higher prices, appreciate your videos
i tried to ride one and fell and twisted my ankle :(
So sorry to hear that!
I’m not a fan of that response. On their website, they underline the importance of respecting pushback and haptic buzz, and they strongly encourage you slow down. “Only the most skilled riders” is a gaslighting statement.
