Hi! I just have 2 quick questions in section A. Could you explain what the basic principles of behavior are? Is pragmatism a philosophical assumption? I ask these because I read the Cooper book and it’s not very clear. They say that reinforcement, punishment and extinction are the basic principles but it also says that it’s not limited to just those 3. I’m not sure if there’s another book I should be looking at where it outlines all the principles. And also in the Cooper book pragmatism is not a part of the assumptions but every video or study guide I see includes it and I just wanted to clear it up.
Multiple exemplar training refers to using a variety of stimuli and responses directly related to the skill in your training to promote generalization. "practice with a variety of response topographies which help to ensure the acquisition of desired response forms and also promotes response generalization in the form of untrained topographies. This tactic typically incorporates both stimulus and response variations" (Cooper, Heron & Heward, 2019) General case study/analysis is going through and selecting the different stimuli and response examples you might use in teaching. "systematic method for selec ti ng teaching examples that represent the full range of stimulus variations and response requirements in the generalization setting" (Cooper, Heron, & Heward, 2019)

I have a very important question. If I study this BCBA task guide by watching all of your videos and practicing all sorts of questions, will I be able to pass my QASP-S Exam? Because I just noticed that the content for both BCBA & QASP-S is highly indentical. So would these videos suffice or should I study more? Because I have started to feel overwhelmed with a lot of info. I think you made a mistake when it came to methodological behaviorism, it’s associated with Watson and radical behaviorism is associated with skinner. Also the assumptions of science in aba I believe your missing philosophic doubt and replication as well as experimentation unless the 5th edition doesn’t have them. Thank u 🙏
If I were to say "what is that" and I place a picture of a cup on the table and the client says "cup" if that is not a tact then what verbal operant would it be? I'm confused because I was taught that Exp ID's and REC ID's were tacts.
A tact is evoked by a nonverbal SD. The stimulus becomes the SD (the item, the action, etc.) Your example is an intraverbal - evoked by a verbal SD with no point-to-point correspondence, but with formal similarity (a conversation). bcbastudy.com/what-are-verbal-operants/

Hi Wanda, congrats on starting your prep. You want to start with these full task list study guide videos and the individual task list study guide videos. During this time, you should focus on fluency and mastering the vocabulary. Once you feel you are comfortable with the terms and definitions, move to the practice questions. At that point, I would do one of the practice exams. After the practice exam, you'll have a good idea of where you stand and where you need more work.

I think you made a mistake when it came to methodological behaviorism, it’s associated with Watson and radical behaviorism is associated with skinner. Also the assumptions of science in aba I believe your missing philosophic doubt and replication as well as experimentation unless the 5th edition doesn’t have them. Thank u 🙏

If I were to say "what is that" and I place a picture of a cup on the table and the client says "cup" if that is not a tact then what verbal operant would it be? I'm confused because I was taught that Exp ID's and REC ID's were tacts.
A tact is evoked by a nonverbal SD. The stimulus becomes the SD (the item, the action, etc.) Your example is an intraverbal - evoked by a verbal SD with no point-to-point correspondence, but with formal similarity (a conversation).

Hi, Gabriella, I would recommend doing a masters that 1) you will enjoy 2) is cost effective for you 3) you can apply to the field. The course sequence is built into a lot of masters programs if you find the right one.

Hi Wanda, congrats on starting your prep. You want to start with these full task list study guide videos and the individual task list study guide videos. During this time, you should focus on fluency and mastering the vocabulary. Once you feel you are comfortable with the terms and definitions, move to the practice questions. At that point, I would do one of the practice exams. After the practice exam, you'll have a good idea of where you stand and where you need more work.
