To new RBTs… I have a 3 month old baby and a 5 year old. All I did was rewatch these videos and watch additional ones that he would link within the videos and then do mock exams. Thanks to Mauricio’s videos I passed my exam today. With little time to study because of my kids, If I can do it than anyone can.🎉🎉🎉

Mauricio has a wonderful way of explaining things that may seem complex to a beginner in a way that is relatable and easy to remember. Sharifa Brown I did the competency test through the job I was hired with and no it wasn’t. The BCBA that did the competency assessment with me explained each part that was listed on the paper in detail and gave me an example of what each section meant and then tested me on it. And the exam honestly is just like the questions on aba rocks. If you can get all the questions right on aba rocks like their mock exam and practice questions in each section then you’ll definitely pass the exam

I was very nervous before taking my exam. I studied my notes, flash cards, took sample tests, etc...when I found these videos. I found them informative and helpful, with lots of insight and even humor. I like how things were broken down by section and included hints on what to expect. There’s a lot of terminology to remember and these videos helped so much with that, and gave great examples. When I took the exam, many of the examples given here came to mind. I honestly don’t think I would’ve passed without these videos. Many thanks!!!

But honestly my main source of study came from watching all of these videos like 5 times over and I was so confident while taking the exam. Good luck, you’ll do great!!!!

I passed my test on my first try all thanks to your videos! This was my main source of study material along with some quizlet sets and online practice exams (from ABA rocks and quizzma). For anyone that is worried about the test, I didn't absorb a lot of material from the 40 hr modules so I was freaking out about what I was going to use to study. I HIGHLY recommend watching these exam review videos and all the videos that he suggests to view. He also created a study guide to go along with these videos! Thanks! Yeah I was thinking of making a video explaining those concepts. But in the meantime, I'll give you a short explanation. Behaviors always have something that happens before (antecedent) and after (consequence). The consequence can be a reinforcer which makes the behavior more likely to occur in the future. How motivating the reinforcer is, is the MO (motivating operation). There are two types of MO's: EO (establishing operation) and AO (abolishing operation). *The reason there is sometimes confusion is because MO and EO used to have different definitions*. EO makes a reinforcer stronger so an example would be not eating in 2 days, this would make food a much more powerful reinforcer. AO is the opposite of an EO, it makes a reinforcer weaker, an example would be giving someone a ton of candy in an hr, after that candy will not be as effective a reinforcer. So long story short, MO includes both EO and AO, EO makes reinforcers stronger, AO makes them weaker. Hope that helps!

A lot of positive comments and that’s great. Anyone out there that failed the test? I took mine today and failed by 10 points. So disappointed and mad at myself. I used these videos as a study guide but I guess I have to try harder or borrow a brain. Having to pay again to retake the test sucks

Thanks! Yeah I was thinking of making a video explaining those concepts. But in the meantime, I'll give you a short explanation. Behaviors always have something that happens before (antecedent) and after (consequence). The consequence can be a reinforcer which makes the behavior more likely to occur in the future. How motivating the reinforcer is, is the MO (motivating operation). There are two types of MO's: EO (establishing operation) and AO (abolishing operation). *The reason there is sometimes confusion is because MO and EO used to have different definitions*. EO makes a reinforcer stronger so an example would be not eating in 2 days, this would make food a much more powerful reinforcer. AO is the opposite of an EO, it makes a reinforcer weaker, an example would be giving someone a ton of candy in an hr, after that candy will not be as effective a reinforcer. So long story short, MO includes both EO and AO, EO makes reinforcers stronger, AO makes them weaker. Hope that helps!
