Hi Alex, Thanks again for the videos and explanation. Question number 2, when I did the RBT online course, I actually learned that the 4 functions of behaviour were: Escape, tangibles, attention and sensory, the word automatic for me is kind of new, I am glad I'm watching this video and I am practicing with your mock exams, otherwise I would have fail in this question. Can I also refer to automatic as sensory? Thanks (by the way, my name is Angela, I am the one preparing for the RBT exam, I am using my husband's computer, this youtube account is his, reason why you see his pic and name) ;-)
Question: I thought we were memorizing the acronym SEAT for the functions of behavior (or the antecedent) and that it would be sensory, escape, attention, tangible. Please update me.
I love you so much and I thank you so much for helping me through this process because it is filled if you don’t want it it’s not gonna be given to you at all
Good evening, in the RBT manual and 40-hr training that I received and completed, it states that sensory is one of the functions of behavior, so I originally answered C for question #2. However, you picked A. Can you further explain please? Also, what is automatic please?
The four functions of behavior are attention, tangible, automatic, and escape/avoidance. Many people will refer to automatic as "sensory." They have come to mean the same thing. That's why C is incorrect. Automatic just means the behavior occurs without social mediation (another person), or, in other words, self-stimulation. Great question.
Can I ask how is question 3 differential reinforcement? DR is defined as addressing challenging bx. Raising his hand is not a challenging bx. Honestly, there is not bx to replace it. Why wouldn't it be punishment since it is decreasing his bx of hand raising?
Hey, Jamera, DR can be used for any behavior, not just challenging behavior. It is simply reinforcing one behavior while putting other behaviors on extinction. Receiving no praise is withholding reinforcement (extinction)
thank you for the info. I am new at this field . Please tell me where is the starting point School or classes. RBT . I am experience caregiver and from Out of State . Thank you
Could you please put the letters on the video larger than current are?. Your videos are amazing, but I can't see the letters well. Thank you in advance.
On question #6, the correct answer is A, but what is C? (You are taking the medicine to stop the sneezing). I'm confused with that example. Thank you very much.
Good question! Break it down: Antecedent: sneezing and sniffling Behavior: Take medicine Consequence: sneezing goes away (negative reinforcement) In the future you are more likely to take medicine when you are sneezing and sniffling.
I just came across your channel. I've been studying for my exam but I can't grasp the information. Must you know all the vocabulary? Does the test surround events? I have the printed study guide from my course but its so much information and i end up breaking down.
Hi! Great videos! thanks so much for all this info! I was confused on #10. As RBTs we are not suppose to modify plan even if necessary. I guess the question did not specify RBT/BCBA, it just said what is the last step...it was tricky for me... Got this one wrong...
Hey, good question! You are not supposed to modify the plan as an RBT on your own, but you will definitely assist your BCBA in modifying plans based on the data that was collected and analyzed. The last thing we do with a skill acquisition plan is look at progress based on data and go from there.
I disagree with in Q5. Seeing the phone is a SD not an MO. What set the occasion for yelling is the SD (the phone) . The MO is the fact that he is his friend which make yelling (behaviour) more reinforcing.
Yelling for his friend is always available in this situation. The MO of seeing the phone increases the value of yelling for his friend. See phone - yell for friend - friend turns around - friend walks back to you
I was thinking it was a SD because "yo" was the stimulus. "Yo" is the antecedent, the bx is "the returns to the house", and the consequence is he gets his phone. How can the phone be the MO when the individual didn't even know that he left his phone?
I just went and read the question again, the MO is for the friend that found the phone and not the friend who left the phone. These incomplete sentences or lack of context be getting me lol
Hello! I'm a little confuse with question #3 you say that it's differential reinforcement. I though that in differential reinforcement we ignore unwanted behavior. In this specific scenario I see the same behavior in different in class. It's because we are not adding or removing? Can you explain me why it's not punishment ? Because I don't see that this is a unwanted behavior. Thank you for your time.
Hey, Laura, good questions! When using differential reinforcement, a target behavior is on extinction, meaning reinforcement is being withheld for that behavior, while another behavior is receiving reinforcement. What makes this question tricky is the behavior that is receiving reinforcement and being put on extinction is the same, but the environment is different. However, it is still differential reinforcement. Answering questions is reinforced in science class, but is on extinction in English class. It isn't punishment because nothing is being added or taken away in English class. Reinforcement is simply being withheld.

Questions 2 is wrong. It should be " C" instead of " A" Sensory: Meet a sensory need or feel “inherently good” Escape: Get away from something negative/unpleasant Attention: Gain attention from a preferred individual Tangible: Gain access to a physical object or activity
I disagree with Q9. For me the answer is "a". The key words is that the client has never swallowed a coin. They mean that the behaviour is not dangerous. However choosing the last answer "d" you actually give the opportunity to the child to put sth else in the mouth that could be even more dangerous than coin just to get your attention. Putting the behavior on extinction (ignoring the putting coin in mouth behavior) puts the client in danger of swallowing the coins. You always place client safety (ethics) first.
