I have a bkd and after 4 years of ownership I genuinely don't see the point. For what it would cost there is way to many other cars e.g bmw 335d. Get that the person wants it done but I bet it will cause so many issues. Mine is on 200k and I be honest I should have looked after it better but still no issues what so ever being standard
I've got a BKD and my biggest headache is boost leaks from Volkswagen's shit boost pipe connection design. Rather have a pipe go over a tube and use a hose clamp.
@darkside development Why did you use the 1.9 block, crank and oil pump? Is the BKD block and crank weaker? Don’t the bkd and 1.9 use the same oil pump?
In my experience the 2.0 is not very reliable in standard form never mind tuned it takes a lot of money to build it properly before it becomes reliable, the 1.9 is a lot more reliable, VW shortcuts maybe.....but this is just my opinion.....
It is running one of our custom stainless exhaust - www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/darkside-developments-custom-exhaust-systems.html The BKPs are worst, they have a balance shaft design that is prone to failure, they also run the Siemens ECU and Injector system that is limited to around 270bhp

we have done swtchable on EDC16 but it was not easy.. 1287 Bosio's should be smoke free but a lot of those had issues when we used them. If its our turbo kit and injectors we can tune.
@@DarksideDevelopments thanks for the reply, the reason being for testing proposes, i know the NCT over here in is more intense than the MOT in the uk so i need a switchable smokeless map, the turbo came from xman and i had the metal work fabricated locally unfortunately , i have another question, probably stupid one, how is that car reading the EGT's on the gauge, i have no sensors on the manifold should it be taking a reading from there, its a 3" stainless turbo back exhaust not stock
Hello, i have a3 with 2.0 tdi cr engine , bmm is engine type, is bmm better or worse than bkd when it comes to reliability and getting about 250ish hp from it?
BKD is easier to get power from. A remap alone will get around 170-180hp safely whilst the BMM is around 160-170hp which can make a difference. Then you can easy reach 250hp with a turbo kit and have no troubles
top work , I know next to nothing about diesel tuning iv noticed a few videos and a lot of cars have open cone filters rather than cold air kits or shrouded filters , does it make a difference to power on diesel cars like it does petrols, cheers
Our opinion is an open cone is better than a restrictive closed airbox. we have done the testing and not just on the dyno. Visible smoke is reduced at these power levels

Flywheel(Sachs) has less than 6k miles, so its pretty new. Is it possible to get this kind of power with a hybrid, and how much have you guys made the most with a 1856? Thanks in advance!
@Jay Leno I easily reach this conclusion for two reasons. First, the manufacturer volkswaguen says that the 2.0 BKD is a version that is superior to the 1.9 tdi engines. "The 2.0 ltr./103 kW TDI engine is the first in a line of new TDI engine generations with 4 valve technology from VOLKSWAGEN. It is a further development of the 1.9 ltr./96 kW TDI engine. The increase in engine size compared with the standard engine was achieved by resizing the bore. " www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_316.pdf Stronger, bigger block. I will not contradict the volkswagen manufacturer itself. Secondly, my BKD already shows that. Strong, robust, 200 HP (Remap, Turbo) which has already tested against ARL, ASZ engines etc.
Is the BKD the same engine as the BMP, just that the BMP has a DPF? I have a Passat with the BMP engine with 180.000km on it. Runs really good, but I am worried about the oil pump failures.
Shall get one ordered from yourselves, noticed over 3k'ish like a limiter when full throttle in every gear, loads of smoke behind, no engine like, Thanks very much for any help 👍

what exactly would decrease chances of cracking the head? also, should I check glowplugs because of rough starting at 70ºC? already had injectors recalibrated oh, and what top speed should I expect from a stock engine on 17's? I seem to not be able to get past 215km/h, despite seeing people going 226 stock
The early BKD heads go porous, you cannot stop this so the issue just needs fixing when it occurs. You can check the glow plugs but you may also want to plug the car in for diagnostics. These suffer from a hot start issue that we can fix in the software. As for the top speed we cannot say, we've never done a top speed run in a stock car

Ryan, I'm gonna ask something you're probably sick of getting asked...soz... I'm after a fairly quick and cheap daily to play with and I've been chewing over VAG tdi's for ages. I'm after whatever is the most reliable and cost effectively tuned engine. If "you" were starting out on a hatch, which you were happy to mildly tune (turbo, exhaust, injectors, remap), what would you buy?
Fabia vrs? Ibiza fr 1.9? Polo 1.9? 1.9 A3 Quattro? 2.0? PD or CR? Anything else?
I had a remapped Leon PD170, it was fun but it often felt a bit crap, I think the map was toss (done before I had it - holes in the power band)....anyways, that went with the Mrs. Wanting to get back in a derv now though.
I'm waiting to win the A5, but need a back up plan 😅.

@darkside development
Why did you use the 1.9 block, crank and oil pump? Is the BKD block and crank weaker?
Don’t the bkd and 1.9 use the same oil pump?
In my experience the 2.0 is not very reliable in standard form never mind tuned it takes a lot of money to build it properly before it becomes reliable, the 1.9 is a lot more reliable, VW shortcuts maybe.....but this is just my opinion.....
The cranks are weaker, no counterweights. block is slightly weaker also. below 310hp its not a problem.

That could be a long discussion, just find the car you like! All new diesels have various issues, most that can be solved

It is running one of our custom stainless exhaust - www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/darkside-developments-custom-exhaust-systems.html

Top BKD 👍
Is bkd the best 2.0 pd to get?
@@wakaflockaproject In my opinion as an owner, I consider a 2.0 bkd very good and strong. One of the best 2.0 and better than 1.9
@Jay Leno yes, better
@Jay Leno I easily reach this conclusion for two reasons. First, the manufacturer volkswaguen says that the 2.0 BKD is a version that is superior to the 1.9 tdi engines.
"The 2.0 ltr./103 kW TDI engine is the first in a line
of new TDI engine generations with 4 valve
technology from VOLKSWAGEN.
It is a further development of the 1.9 ltr./96 kW
TDI engine.
The increase in engine size
compared with the standard engine was
achieved by resizing the bore. "
www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_316.pdf
Stronger, bigger block. I will not contradict the volkswagen manufacturer itself.
Secondly, my BKD already shows that. Strong, robust, 200 HP (Remap, Turbo)
which has already tested against ARL, ASZ engines etc.
Is the BKD the same engine as the BMP, just that the BMP has a DPF? I have a Passat with the BMP engine with 180.000km on it. Runs really good, but I am worried about the oil pump failures.
