I really like the BKD engines, I’ve not been in another 2.0 TDI that pulls as well as standard, can’t imagine how this feels.
When it comes to tuning vag dervs Darkside are in a league of their own.
Another nice vid. So glad you put the acceleration pulls of speedo in the vid. Had my fingers crossed that you would. Needed in all your vids. Nice.
Having an a3 Quattro tdi myself the grumble reminds me I’ve got a very unique and powerful machine, a price I’m happy to pay!
PD engines. Can't go wrong. Even the BXE variants are pretty solid if you don't over boost em.
Got a BXE to 140, BKD at 160 maybe, and yh both nippy, but BXE is so much more responsive, BKD in comparison, feel dead until 2 and then just dump
The amount of traction control I've seen, I'd say a haldex system is a good edition especially if it can be used to induce over steering through acceleration
Now this is a serious piece of kit

Spot on about the seats, all they've done is used rear headrests in the front so don't have to put up with the GTD logo in them.

To be fair it is a Quattro and is 100 more hp than that generation S3 would have had been , 😃 but yes you're are Right just doesnt work , Should have jus left the Quattro badge there.

@VW25 Wouldn't hurt to ask them! Guess it depends how much you're looking to spend! Unfortunately, rust got mine. There's just too much of it. Engine is perfect since DS worked on it, but the body is too far gone :( It's being stripped for parts now.

Can you upgrade 1.9 TDI motor like that?
We've done a Fabia 1.9 with 322bhp for a daily tune all the way to over 400 with full boost and nitrous. There are plenty of builds similar on our customer car page www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/vag-customers-cars-page/
If you had a choice, would you start with a BKD or a BMN?
Probably BKD...they have there issues in the early BKD's but BMN are known for injector issues which a more expensive to replace than on the BKD
"80mm PIPE" for the air intake, oh yes please. I suspect that car creates smiles alround, very very nice, again cheers ofr the vid.
The "speedo" footage SHIT ME that is outstanding, also how far into the redline you get it and it didn't explode man alive.
My only question with a build like this is... Why not buy a S3 and run way more power for less work?

@@DarksideDevelopments I'm thinking they would cost similar price in this case... Normally it makes total sense but surely a stage 2 8p S3 for 5/6k would be less?
@@Marri-Tech dont forget MPG when cruising.. s3 burn 2x more fuel easily..so if you want to cruise 50/60 mpg and same time make some s3 /st /bmw owners surprised and angry this is the way to go ;)

How come only front wheels on dyno if it’s Quattro ? Haldex disconnected or something ? Also do these guys do bmw or vag only ? Just seen previous post lol.
How do you reduce the smoke output from pd engines? I have a 150 golf and it chucks out a lot of crap in 2nd and 3rd. Hasn’t been touched in terms of tuning no map either. Cheers

This never had a DPF
Most VAG diesels before 07 have no DPF.
TT quattro mk1 or A3 quattro 8p, who one have better stability?.. HP do not important, stock HP.. wich one is better for driving?

in comparison witnn the older generation like the 1.9 tdi are these 2.0 tdi bkd engines good and reliable when tuned and inceresed horsepower or what cautions is needed when doing a project not so strong like this one but like 300/300 ish hp??? (with only bolt-ons if possible)

BKD's are known for head cracking issues so get a late spec one, 300hp is easy with our turbo kit and big injectors, no need to open the engine.

A3 with the S treatment are gorgeous but the Mk5 is for me, R32 exhaust, Gti , Gt sport, R32 in that order front, side skirts, shadow blue or Black, stunning, plus your a golf, exhaust note is the only thing, say you redo the red strip into a grey lime the wheels, you blend with the background but any enthusiastic person is gonna see a odd GTi with a PD noise and never expect a haldex system

Yeah it's easy, just don't lift and smash the gears!
It you don’t care about clutch and drive shaft lives, go ahead. :-)
...or just run a DSG with increased clutch clamping rates if quickest changes are your thing.

@@DarksideDevelopments So going by website prices, this car has had about £10k spent on it? I'm just curious where the benefit is to building this diesel when a modified S3 would be so much cheaper?
@@Scarffo123 Does there have to be a benefit? Modifying cars doesn't have to make sense or be financially viable. It's what the customer wanted to do with his car :)

they just pull the plug from the haldex unit, so it wont engage awd.

Easy to deactivate the Haldex pump, making it FWD only.
mondo odnom it will be gen 2 Haleex since it’s a PFL 8p, it would still engage the Haldex clutches with the front wheels turning and the rears not. That would be interpreted as massive wheel slip. So still needs the fuse pulling or the Haldex controller cable disconnected to run in FWD only.
So you cant claim the horsepower is they only did fwd run. And to be honest i dont believe this is quattro anyways 😃
EVOGUE Official quite a few videos of Haldex equipped cars running FWD on a dyno. Pretty sure they will have used the drivetrain loss percentage factor for 2WD instead of AWD. So would think they can claim the figures given.
