The idea of "who asked for a Street Fighter versus Tekken game, cuz there's not a lot of cross over in those casual audiences" is weird to me. I was super pumped to hear this and I was super casual with fighting games.
I like the change of Max's expression about KOF Allstars collabs became from "JUST MAKE IT AN ACTUAL GAME!!" to a "Oh shit...fuuuck" when Justin said "Just throw in Mario, Luigi, Peach, or Wario, if you want shotos in there and call it a day" while Matt added "Hell throw Bowsette in there!!" It's just hilarious xD
This game needs a rerelease with updated graphics, no gems, a refined pandora system, balance patch and of course new characters like Feilong so that we can get our dream match of Law vs Feilong
I’d have loved the ‘Tekken x Street Fighter’ version to be Bandai Namco’s ‘Tekken Tag Tournament 3’ Imagine how huge that roster would be and the tag mechanics (but have a small change where you have to beat all members in a team to win the round/match)
This is probably the greatest podcast I’ve ever watched, I know it’s early on but this is such consistent high quality!! Only way I can see it being even greater is perhaps guests from game devs to other FGC content creators BUT only occasionally, don’t want to taint the chemistry between the 3 GOATs here
Would love to hear you guys talking about fighting controls. The old school (button commands and combinations) vs new school (specials tied to a button), your preference, how it effects the fighting community as well as how it impacts the entry level for bringing in new players.
I always loved how capcom went all out with this game post sf4 hype, they put in a lot of work with the trailers and characters and the single player content was loads of fun. Whatever they were smoking thinking that gems would be a viable mechanic are what made it not really have any legs to stand on years later
That was crazy ono idea, he wanted a fighting game where you can build up your character ala street fighter 3 alpha however capcom CEO’s were like can you make it profitable? And thus dumb ass gems were born lol.
Another great episode! SFxT was so hype when it was first announced and was so good concept wise but its rep for on disc dlc and gems and such really destroyed what could have been a game that have been absolutely amazing. I personally still love it cause they managed to make the Tekken characters stupid fun and translated them so well but damn it still stings a lot.
I remember after the patch I was so obsessed with this game playing this game all of the time but the capcom hate was always over me that put a bad taste in my mouth. I remember playing this game a lot like King/Law was my duo
The game has an amazing concept, and honestly the final version is a solid game. The roster is really good, tho I feel like some of the guest characters take away from the experience imo (PAC MAN is fine, but then we got the wrong Mega Man, and three characters who are just there for marketing in Cole and Toru Twins) And as Matt said in his “What happened?” video, the way they did content and the gems thing was so bad (ON DISC DLC 😵💫) Very interested to see what Max and Justin think (as we already know what Matt thinks from said video)
That megaman was such a spit in the face for fans, years have we asked for a playable megaman since the MVC2 days. They added megaman from legends into tatsunoko but it isnt rock or X. And then they release this fat fuck with a gun as megaman. It was a disgrace man.
I also would love to see a Namco vs Capcom idea considering how many franchises both companies have, if you don't count Namco x Capcom and the Project x zone series. Another crossover for Capcom Vs would be Sega since they too have many ips and also own Atlus, so a Demi-fiend vs Dante rematch would be awesome and final fight characters vs Streets of Rage characters. The pipe dream Capcom Vs i would like to see but will NEVER HAPPEN is a Tatsunoko sequel or any Anime/Manga Company like Shueisha/Shonen jump or Kodansha/Shonen magazine, unfortunately anime/manga licensing is a HUGE Nightmare.
Mega Man and Pac-Man were NEVER released on the Xbox 360 version. They were in the DATA for that version, and hackers had access to them, but they were never officially released for it. Also, Matt was probably thinking about Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale when he mentioned Evil Cole.
I love this game. The sheer amount of cool shit you can pull off at almost all skill levels is incredible. Pandora and the time limit were disappointing but I think the gems and on disc dlc is what killed it.
Thank you Justin, Matt, and Maximillian for this episode. In all honesty I had a lot of high hopes when this game was initially announced since I had hoped that it would usher in a new era of VS fighting games (still hold up CvS2 as the best thus far). As you gentlemen had mentioned the monitazation of this game really left a bad taste in my mouth coupled with Capcom's other finically motivated repeated nonPlayer-friendly policies really spelled the end of any good will or financial support that I was willing to give them. I continue this stance even now with the KOFAS SFV collab since the devs noted that half of any money earned during a collab time period goes to the parent IP. Looking forward to watching next week's episode, continue the great work and think it's great that you guys are having a blast while making these.

That's the problem right there I was anticipating that game but it never showed up during the PS4 and XBOX ONE Era now the PS5 & XBOX Series X /S are here and we still don't know much about the game it's non-existent and vague
SFXTK started out as a complete mess but by the 2013 update it became such a solid fighting game. FAR from amazing but it's such a fun footies based fighter. Getting hit once is really dangerous because the amount of damage that can be done and even after the combo ends your opponent has so much advantage, so every hit and whiff really matters and i think that makes the neutral so exhilarating. Especially with neutral like Street Fighter. I honestly really like Street Fighter X Tekken.
Dave Lang is a really important figure in games period and I need him to get that recognition on a larger scale. Just his history with Midway (MLB Slugfest Loaded and NBA Ballers!!!) and then what he went onto do with fighting games, and also keeping the Chicago games industry flourishing with Iron Galaxy being in the forefront with Netherrealm. Plus, his history with sites like Giant Bomb are legendary.

Akuma in tekken was touched on but I would love to hear what characters you guys think could thrive within the rules of a different game
@@thelightseeker94 I don't care for those who abandoned the game because I just didn't, I love to play the game casually even in these days in arcade mode watching all endings and rivals cutscenes, the AI is actually funny in the hardest settings, and if I am lucky enough I can find people to play online in ps3. The same I do with my fav game USFIV 🥰.
When I played Street Fighter x Tekken, my younger mind ignored the gem system and played it like a Tag Team version of SF4. Had a lot of fun with that game.
I could see MK vs SF working if they leaned more into a cartoony style... That's like the solution to half of the problems when it comes to art style it seems. But if you had something more Todd McFarlane for the MK characters and Joe Madureira for the SF characters, you would get the brutality, but couched in a decent amount of stylization so it isn't the excessive gore we saw in MKXI.
My favorite SF x T memory was getting the game day 1. There were about 40 people waiting for the Game Store to open and I was the only one there for SF x T and everyone else was there for Mass Effect 3 so I got to get my game right away and leave the other people in the DUST!
Mine was missing school at morning on release day to buy the game and play it in my cousin's house with some friends And then going home "after school" to be invited to play the game in my cousin's house with some friends!
Street Fighter X Tekken is still one of my favorite fighting games of all time. Being able to jump online with one of my best friends and take on the world as a tag team was a game changer. I realize it has a ton of issues but being able to move up the ranks online with a buddy in the same room as a tag partner was fantastic.
Honestly a game that I loved. Our little scene didn't use gems and had an amazing fun time playing. They had a good game on their hands but got entangled in a bunch of bad choices.
bro the way my ears perked up when max mentioned one of my favorite games is wild, I never thought I'd hear armored core mentioned in a fighting game podcast
This game came out right when i was getting fascinated by fighting games. I was a sophomore in high school playing doa4, street fight 4 vanilla and tekken 6 and gawking at the early talk of ttt2. Tekken 6 took me by storm and id trade in doa4 for sf4 so i was enthralled by the announcement of this game and the promise of TxSF. I got it day 1 and its actually the game that i used to really learn sf character playstyles. The gems i always thought was a bad move but i truly never understood the true resentment of this game at a casual level. I was watching full combo videos and the music trailers got me going even more
Great video and what’s funny is that this day I still love this game. The trailers hyped me up and I got it first week and haven’t been disappointed since. I do have some things that I would consider cons but it’s definitely top 3 favorite fighting games on the ps3 without a doubt!
An awesome crossover concept idea. Gem system could have been so much more.. but it was a headache Then tons of characters behind a paywall I only rented the game. It felt like a punch to the solar plexus. This game was a mess But those cinematics looked pretty sweet. Sigh wish the game looked just like that instead Akuma in Tekken 7. That was epic
This was the only game to ever give me a nervous breakdown in a tournament. We were using my 360 for finals and matches kept going to time limit and it took fucking forever because no one could do enough damage to kill their opponent ever. I was stuck till almost 3 in the morning and had to work the next day. By the time they patched it to be a decent game I had already sold it off. One of the most miserable fighting game experiences I ever had. Also fuck gems.
Crossovers like this are FUN..i suck at the FG:s but this stil looked like a cool idea.Hopefully there woud be a game that has KOF,tekken and SF characters in the future
I played a lot of SFEX3's 4-player-at-once mode back in the 2000's. It was so fun and chaotic. Grabs were not allowed, unless it was command grabs, reason for this was that the rest of the players couldn't do anything while the grabs lasted. But you and your partner could do absolutely insane stuff together when you were on a roll 😆
I always wanted to see a version of SF4 (Official or Mod) that ported the Tekken characters over like they did with Rolento, Hugo, Poison and Elena. I know that's a huge task to pull off, but it's sad to see all of that awesome work only contained in that 1 game.
The only thing i really know about SFxT was the whole on disc dlc controversy. I remember that playing out and people losing their shit because of how scummy it was for Capcom to pull that off. That event alone changed how DLC was handled really across the gaming industry just because it was that big a PR scandal for the company. Even as an outsider to the FGC, i could tell that was bad.
I mostly liked SF X Tekken, but it sure as hell had issues. Gameplay-wise, you guys touched on a good deal of my angst with this game. But among the most glaring missed opportunities I think the game suffered, for me, was the complete lack of potential in-lore Street Fighter and Tekken character partnerships. Ryu mentoring Jin on how to better control his inner devil? Elena and Julia fighting to protect Mother Earth? How about, after a cut scene intro of a misunderstanding, Zangief decides to help Kuma find Heihachi? Well, that and how the in-engine rival cut scenes genuinely outclassed the pre-rendered ending scenes. Honestly, most of my interest in this game stemmed from I just can't figure out how Tekken works. Every time I play, I feel more like I'm fighting my controller/arcade stick than I am fighting the AI or opposing player, just trying to get my dude to move how and where I like. I don't have that issue with either DOA, Soul Calibur or my first 3D fighter love, Virtua Fighter. By interpreting the Tekken characters into a Street Fighter format, I thought I might finally get a sense of what made these honestly cool looking doods and doodettes so damn appealing. I honestly hope Capcom and Namco can come back together and really REALLY get the X series right and proper. That said, if there's a Vs game that's long freaking overdue, in my opinion, it's Mortal Kombat Vs Killer Instinct.
Man street fighter x Tekken is one of my favorite games. I wish people continue to play it. I wouldn't say I like the gems and auto combo systems. So many combo options! I loved it so much! And the company gets greedy.
I bought SFXT for my PSVita a couple years ago. And I love playing that game. With all the DLC characters already on the catridge and pretty much an updated version of the game it is really fun to play on a casual level (I don't want to "learn" SFXT). The most fun I have playing that game is playing the Tekken characters...by far. No matter who it is they all are amazing. Even fighting Tekken characters is more fun. Steve is for me a far FAR better version of Balrog. With his kicks you can dodge like in Tekken and when you fight Jin for example and he does his machine gun punch and you dodge every all of'em right in front of his face and DP his mishimia face in the air... that simply feels amazing.
It's funny how they talk about a possible Capcom & Namco crossover game when there was a game literally called Namco X Capcom which then became Project X Zone that included SEGA characters as well.
I enjoyed SFxT on the PS3 for what it was. I never got great at it, though. I really liked the PS3 exclusive characters like Cole, Toro and Pacman. I know the game didn't do well with the FGC, but maybe a re-release with all the DLC (and PS3 characters) could do well. I still want TxSF.
Honestly, its just WILD to me that not only does that game exist, but the fact that it cratered so fast. This, and Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe. Just wild....
When Matt was talking about evil Chole, I think he was thinking about PlayStation All-stars Battle Royal where Chole and Evil Chole were two different characters
I ignored the Gems system, Street Fighter X Tekken characters was was so cool to me and still is (Kazuya) was my main guy but I cycled everyone. The juggle/links/gamespeed was perfection. I wish they would re-release it
I really would like to see a street fighter vs. mk. I think they could work around it with brutilities instead of fatalities by adding more combos like killer instinct ultras, and they get beat down.
I loved (and desired) the idea of a crossover with those 2 but now i simply accepted it won't never happen Let's say that capcom can be... "special" sometimes
No joke, SFxT is my favorite Street Fighter game. Granted, that's coming from someone who wouldn't consider himself a big fan of Street Fighter (or Tekken for that matter), but still, I loved it having the team mechanics it did, and I loved the way the Tekken characters played in it, particularly Hwoarang, Alisa, and Lili. It's such a shame that Capcom's stupidity with the gems and the DLC doomed it the way it did. Also, Max mentioned the color editor, which I think is criminally underrated. I've always wondered why that didn't become a standard in fighting games, because it was fantastic, and doesn't seem like it'd be that hard to do. I liked it so much more than most alternate colors we get standard in most fighting games.
It be nice to see a rerelease of street x Tekken, I'm with max the casual modes make fighters fun to play for those of us that just aren't that competitive. I'll pay 60 bucks for any fighter that has more than 2 players 🐣
To your point on the Tekken representation in SFxT, i definitely owe my grown enthusiasm for tekken to SFxT. Until then i had a passing interest in it, often preferring Soul Calibur to tekken but when SFxT came out i fell in love w/ Julia, and Asuka to some degree. After that i made it a point to start getting my feet wet in tekken and played quite a bit of T7, getting moderately okay at it. but The fact that Julia had such great chemistry w/ my SF main (Chun-li) just made everything work.
I followed this game ever since they released that first gameplay of ryu fighting kazuya when their supers were super cinematic. Personally they dropped the ball not adding Sean to that game. His playstyle would've been perfect for it. I played this game until got to A rank. I stopped playing because my data got corrupted anytime Steve or bison were chosen, my game would crash and I had to reboot it. Max is the reason Ken/kazuya was my main team until Cody came out and I swapped out Ken for Cody. I still have my matches against max when he did his week of yoshimistsu on SFxT on RUclips
54:00 I get the sentiment in general, but as a casual with even more casual acquaintance, i can confirms that there are many who would'nt mind playing bot Tekken and SF. In the FGC, where people are really technical about stuffs many will stick to their favorite game and get gud at it, and reflect on the difference between 3d fighters and 2d ones (not to mention, many will see other fighting games as rival to theirs). But a casual? it's a cool game and another cool game that plays differently. They'll focus more on the tropes than the type of game, and in that regard, i think someone who enjoy Street Fighter casually could appreciate the Tekken characters. (of course everyone will have their preferences in terms of games) Back in the days, i spent hours playing Tekken 5, Mortal Kombat or Budokai Tenkaichi 3 indiscrimately with my friends and we didn't really think much of it. they were just different games that where all enjoyable.
Excellent as always guys! Here’s a potential topic for the future, abstract fighting games and which ones you guys think are good. I love Waku Waku 7 lol or like weaponlord. There are many out there! Just a thought
I only played tekken 3, i was more of a sf fan but i wanted that thing to happen And waited for a while like a kid waiting for some guy dressed in red until december 25th at 5AM
Even thought Street Fighter X Tekken had its bad rap. I still love that game. Enjoyed the love that they put into Tekken character. The Vita port of both UMvC3 & SF X Tekken were great. Tekken Tag 2 was around that time as well and that game didn't so well.
I wanted to like this game a lot. The gems and DLC nonsense along with the timeouts really soured me. But I probably played SFxT more than any other fighting game just because its netcode was so much better than SF4. Plus with Poison and Rolento... Zangief AND a Bear... it was made for me lol.

I was watching full combo videos and the music trailers got me going even more
Man I can't believe street fighter x tekken is 10 year's old now i remember when I was a kid and my mom and dad rented this from the red box 🤣😵
2012 doesn't seem that long ago
@@redgamerpins3377 yeah
Great video and what’s funny is that this day I still love this game. The trailers hyped me up and I got it first week and haven’t been disappointed since. I do have some things that I would consider cons but it’s definitely top 3 favorite fighting games on the ps3 without a doubt!
An awesome crossover concept idea. Gem system could have been so much more.. but it was a headache
Then tons of characters behind a paywall
I only rented the game. It felt like a punch to the solar plexus. This game was a mess
But those cinematics looked pretty sweet. Sigh wish the game looked just like that instead
Akuma in Tekken 7. That was epic
I wanted SF vs MK as a kid, but now that makes about as much sense as having Zelda vs Call of Duty.
I can feel the hate inbound...
but I legit liked SF x Tekken.
I liked the core concept. But they screwed that game with some super trash decisions.
@@broadwayjayhenry6602 won't argue with that. The way they handled dlc alone made my blood boil 😤
I think the stuff that i hate more are the things that got exceedingly hyped like pandora or gems
This video was so nostalgic from 2011-2012, wow, good times
Whoa, with just a little purple lighting and a backwards hat, for a second I thought Mutahar was taking Matt's place in this show
Guys! Do a show talking about fighting games music/songs/OST. Specially for Capcom and SNK ;)
Yes yes
SNK games OST ❤️
If there's not a bit where we headbang to some KI songs I don't want it
Dude the music of 90s fighting games is so goated it's not even funny.
Color Edite Mode was my absolute jam. They added it just for me.
Crossovers like this are FUN..i suck at the FG:s but this stil looked like a cool idea.Hopefully there woud be a game that has KOF,tekken and SF characters in the future
Those portraits of you guys at the start go so hard
Mortal Kombat vs Killer Instinct ..
could work, since they're both bloody.
But i'd like it to play more like Killer Instinct though.
I absolutely loved to play Vega, Hwoarang, Cody, Lars, M. Bison, Juri, Heihachi, and Kazuya.
I enjoyed the 2v2 tournaments that got held for this game, that's such a fun concept to me
I mostly liked SF X Tekken, but it sure as hell had issues.
I love Triple K.O. ❤
Really a great moment every time.
Do you really think a Street Fighter Team could happen for KOFXV ?
Love the podcasts guys keep em comin
Man street fighter x Tekken is one of my favorite games. I wish people continue to play it. I wouldn't say I like the gems and auto combo systems. So many combo options! I loved it so much! And the company gets greedy.
love it, quick 10 min hype...this that ish that make me want to pick up the sticks again. Might be on that Capcom Collection on the Switch in June
You three have a podcast together, I'm in! Subscribed!
The soundtrack is *slappy.* Very rock-'n'-roll, MegaMan X type stuff. It's a very Capcom sound.
Tekken 7s ending cinematics into gameplay were pretty dope as well.
Loved this episode of the pod, you doods nailed it here
46:10 Matt is thinking of Playstation All-Stars, where Cole and Evil Cole are two separate characters for no raisin.
WAIT, 1:14:20 I DIDNT KNOW THIS WAS A THING IN THIS GAME, I BEEN TRYING TO BUY THIS GAME ON STEAM FOR THE PAST LIKE 2 MONTHS, NOW I WANT IT EVEN MORE
It's funny how they talk about a possible Capcom & Namco crossover game when there was a game literally called Namco X Capcom which then became Project X Zone that included SEGA characters as well.
Gotta talk about the current state of 3D fighting games and it’s future. Would love to hear ur takes
Love this game! Great talk guys
Great topic, and you guys must be settling into the podcast because something about this episode really gelled.
Oh, SFxT... What a missed opportunity. I still kinda love it, but boy oh boy did they ruffle people's feathers with this one...
I would love to see SFxT 2 which can fix the hate from the previous, the redemption like SF6 did to 5.
I loved (and desired) the idea of a crossover with those 2 but now i simply accepted it won't never happen
Let's say that capcom can be...
8:07 omg this is the first time I've seen Max with that hairstyle lol
Checking ya guys out for the first time...Good podcast guys!!
Past episodes are also worth checking out too
I own this game love it and still play it. I love king and law
It be nice to see a rerelease of street x Tekken, I'm with max the casual modes make fighters fun to play for those of us that just aren't that competitive. I'll pay 60 bucks for any fighter that has more than 2 players 🐣
Love what you guys are doing
(of course everyone will have their preferences in terms of games)
Back in the days, i spent hours playing Tekken 5, Mortal Kombat or Budokai Tenkaichi 3 indiscrimately with my friends and we didn't really think much of it. they were just different games that where all enjoyable.
this is gonna be very interesting LETS GOO!
Where's Tekkenx Street Fighter? It's in your heart
firs ttime watching, great podcast! I hope one day we get a re-release with rollback
48:11 he should have said "Get good, scrub!" 😂
Excellent as always guys! Here’s a potential topic for the future, abstract fighting games and which ones you guys think are good. I love Waku Waku 7 lol or like weaponlord. There are many out there! Just a thought
TEKKEN X STREET FIGHTER. It’s gotta happen someday
I only played tekken 3, i was more of a sf fan but i wanted that thing to happen
And waited for a while like a kid waiting for some guy dressed in red until december 25th at 5AM
god these talks have been so fucking good. i love these so much. thank you Justin and Max and Mcmuscles ive been loving these so much
This is definitely my type of channel!!
