    Regular old household Waxed Paper that you probably have in your kitchen works really well for a fire starter! Wet or Dry!! It also folds up pretty compact and a little goes a long way!! Thanks for the vid!!

      @wmluna381 2 года назад +1

      I use wax paper to wrap pieces of pine pitch 'drips' I pull off conifers in parks and parking lots. It allows me to keep the pieces contained and get everything sticky. You just shred up some of the attached wax paper and it goes up quick and stays lit for awhile even in damp weather. Adding little bits of dry shredded cedar bark is a little bonus. Just about as free/cheap as you can get.

    Empty toilet paper rolls filled with dryer lint make excellent fire starters!

    Another good fire lighter is dried orange peel. Potassium Permanganate when wet will stain your fingers purple and takes forever to get off. If you make a solution of sugar and potassium permanganate, soak string with the solution and let dry you now have a lightable fuse.

    Potassium permanganate can also sanitize water and wounds. It’s quite multi purpose.

    I like the l bracket idea, here a hack for you get a pencil sharpener and find a stick that will fit in it and you can have fire starter material in no time, the money hack is a good idea but in a long term grid down (at least 6 months or more) paper money will be useless so I'd suggest having silver coins stashed away

    I've heard of using tuna as a candle, but hadn't thought of it this way. The best thing about that is that you can cook the food without bothering with starting a fire. It uses its own easy and temporary fire. 👍

    save the chap stick to use as fire starter use with cotton or fibers works great ....you should include hacks for the "waste"

    You haven't priced crisco lately , have you. At Safeway it was over $11 a can. Crap! Thanks for all the useful info. Hope I never have to use it, but if I do I will be thinking of you.
