      Damn another important flub from Doug although to be fair they don't make it too obvious in the film other than mentioning it specifically on two or three occasions but he essentially treats her as if he were her daughter like any good family member.

    Can't wait for the *sequel*: _Finding Dory_.
    (Can't _believe_ they actually made a sequel, to be honest)

    • @paradoxacres1063
      @paradoxacres1063 8 лет назад +3

      ***** Yeah...I guess you have a point. It _has_ been *12* years since the original.
      Maybe back then Pixar actually thought they were good enough to _not_ rely on sequels (kinda like Disney)..? I dunno. I'm just hoping it's a fun movie.

    • @paradoxacres1063
      @paradoxacres1063 8 лет назад +1

      ***** I really don't know about _Force Awakens_; I'm actually *nervous* as hell that JJ Abrams is gonna screw it up, somehow. Here's hoping it turns out good!

    • @paradoxacres1063
      @paradoxacres1063 8 лет назад +1

      ***** I liked _The Phantom Menace_, too. Loved _Revenge of the Sith_.
      Personally, I think JJ Abrams loves to pander to the Nostalgia crowd a bit too much. I dunno.

    • @paradoxacres1063
      @paradoxacres1063 8 лет назад +1

      ***** Really? Because from where I'm standing that's not fair to the kids born in the 2000's.
      People growing up in the 70's had their Star Wars, as did people growing up in the 90's. Kids in the 2000's deserve something that panders to _them_, in my opinion.

    • @jewelsims8805
      @jewelsims8805 8 лет назад +3

      +TheDRAWINGhand But parents have probably shown Finding Nemo to their kids, even if they weren't alive at the time when it came out, because it's a Disney film, people just buy those no matter are they new or old and show them :D And the kids who haven't seen it will still watch it, they don't even necessarily know it's a sequal, because there is no number 2, it's just Finding Dory, adults will find it nostalgic so they'll watch it and show it to their kids. It'll work!

  • @alixjamieson2177

    This is my favourite Pixar film. Here's why:
    1. It was the first CGI film I saw in the cinemas when I was four. I loved it so much, that even to this day I can name every species and recite every line...which is sad I know!
    2. Has anyone else noticed how incredibly dark this movie is? Seriously. We have
    • unborn babies being murdered
    • disabilities of both the physical and mental kind
    • the beauty but also harshness of nature and evolution
    •Child Kidnap
    •there's a danger around every turn
    If you think about it, it's very similar to the format of Don Bluth's who's philosophy was that you can show children anything as long as there's a happy ending. Which is what Finding Nemo is, there are dangers, there are times to relax and you feel great when father and son reunite with each other.
    3. The animation is beautiful. You feel as if you're underwater. I found out that Pixar actually made the ocean look too realistic and had to make it look more animated. The details of the light playing from the surface to the tiny specks in the open water is amazing! I love the sea, and this really brought me joy!
    4. The characters are incredibly 3Dimensional. Marlin is just a brilliant character, he's overprotective but it's made clear why, he's kind, but has a hard time trusting others because of past trauma and he incredibly broken by the idea that his son could be gone forever. Dory is hilarious, cheery and optimistic and is the kindest creature in the sea, but she also has her own depths of loneliness and carries this great wisdom and maturity despite her silly nature. I think it's open to interpretation whether these two "got together" at the end so to speak but we'll find out with Finding Dory which I can't wait for! :D (but to be honest, I secretly ship them...haha ship, fish puns) The kid characters are perfect! Not annoying and not pandering. They just act like...kids. Nigel is one of my favourites for just how helpful and honest he is, and Bruce for the ammount of willpower he has.
    The voice acting is superb as well, Albert Brooks, Ellen Degeneres, Barry Humphries, Alexander Gould, Geoffrey Rush, Willem Dafoe, Alison Janney, Vicki Lewis, Brad Garret, Andrew Stanton are all great choices and play their parts really really well!
    5. There is NO Villain! They're all just animals trying to survive and following instincts, or humans who are just being human.
    Bruce isn't the villain because he was overcome with natural instinct
    Dr P Sherman isn't the villain because he's shown to love fish (he cancels an appointment just to clean their tank) and thought he was saving Nemo when he saw him leave the reef, if he knew he was doing something wrong, he never would have taken him.
    Darla isn't the villain because she is five and really loves fish but unfortunately she's just one of those children who plays too rough. She only shook the bag because she was worried Nemo was dead (ironic) and is sad when she loses him, and come on...everyone tapped the glass when they were kids who didn't know any better. The fish are scared of her because she's big and looks like she means harm.
    Honestly one of the greatest animated films of the Western World and the best from Pixar alongside Toy Story, Up, The Incredibles, WALL-E, Ratatouille and Inside Out. 10/10 :)

      this is my favorite Pixar movie too! And you my friend just explained why :)
      I was three when I saw this movie and I loved it, the animation, story, music, characters, and just how it shows what life/nature is.
      it's so unique and has so many memorable characters that are hard to forget.
      Finding Dory was great too, but I felt like the characters were a bit forced into the story.
      What I like about both films is that both fish (Marlin and Dory) have one goal, and that's finding their families. No one is stopping them from doing so, (like you said "There are NO villains.") Just obstacles and advantages, and that's life.
      Both films are wonderful and I enjoyed them. But to me, Finding Nemo is just more deep and emotional. (not that Finding Dory wasn't deep or emotional.. it was, I cried in the theater ;-;)
      I agree with you when you said that you ship Marlin and Dory. I ship them just a little bit too much. .^.

      I hate to say lt, because I grew up with Toy Story (Literally. I must have first watched lt at 0 years old.), but Finding Nemo is the better Pixar movie. I fought myself on this a lot over the years, but a lot of Toy Storys argument is nostalgia & me being unwilling to change a favorite that has lasted forever. But when lt comes right down to lt, logic is a much better argument than nostalgia. I listen to the Finding Nemo score all of the time. I still cry multiple times during lt. I make references to lt all of the time. Toy Story, I rarely listen to, I don't recall ever crying in & I don't make as many references to. I mean, just look at how much effort, heart, soul & brain they put into this. I think Toy Story invented lt, but Finding Nemo perfected lt. It's a lot like comparing Snow White & The Seven Dwarves to Dumbo. I have much nostalgia for the former, but in my heart, I know Dumbo is better. What am I even talking about?

      I liked toy story 3 the best. And, (Well a lot of this is DEFINETELY due to nostalgia) my favorite pixar film is cars. The characters are interesting, the plot is very well done, and paul newman does a fantastic job as doc. Also Owen Wilson as Lightning was great, and mater is pretty funny (he did WHAT in his cup?). Also the love story was well done.

    This is, MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME. The voice acting, Perfect! The characters, Perfect! The story, Perfect! This was also the very first movie I ever saw. It was this, Ice Age, then Elmo in Grouchland. The imagery is absolutely PHENOMENAL. I freaking love these designs! The music is also one of my favorite things about this movie. The Nemo Egg Song always tears me up, and The song that plays when Marlin and Nemo are playing around, I can listen to that for hours! It’s just a nice calm soothing song. The comedy is also the best I’ve seen in years. Dory is a blast, the kids get funny lines, the fish in the tank also get a good laugh outta me. I can watch this movie over and over, and love it just as much, if not, more. For the few people that haven’t seen this movie, it is a must see in my opinion.

    I worked at a daycare that had a movie day in the preschool room every Friday, where the kids would pick and watch a movie at the end of the day. Let's just say that Finding Nemo was so popular that it was the only thing the preschoolers wanted to watch each week for over two months straight. It's such a classic I didn't get sick of it playing in the background so often, but I did get the "Just keep swimming, swimming swimming" tune stuck in my head several times, Lol.

    • @sandrols7
      @sandrols7 7 лет назад +11

      Honestly, it was influential. like RTA says, it's the first CGI movie, but also a good CGI movie when movies with CGI didn't do very well, because of how much people depended on it. YOu might understand that nostalgia will have a lot to do with a movie that made a little revolution possible, even though it might not hold up to modern animation. I mean, face it, the animation in, lets say, Moana is incredible, while the animation in Toy Story 1 is really dated.

    One of the few films that actually embraces CG animation. Movies about human characters have rarely if ever translated well in 3D, but this underwater world embraces it very well. Even when the technology doesn't quite hold up over time, it's still watchable because the visuals still work for the world that's been created here. Not every animated film needs to be CG, but this one clearly does.

    "Finding Nemo" is amazing Pixar move. I love this movie. I remember this movie when I was in high school and I enjoy this movie even for today it's still fantastic. I love the adventure were Marlin and Dory are going to find Nemo far away to the oceans of Australia. Dory is a fun character and Ellen DeGeneres is a funny actress which became so popular in her talk show for all these years. Yes, she is indeed lesbian which the movie didn't make her as a love interest, but a good friend to hell Marlin to find his son. All these colorful sea creatures were amazing and the ocean background looks beautiful with blue and neat experience. Such a quiet movie of watching the sea and became a strong summer blockbuster hit. Overall, amazing film and one of my favorites. Don't forget, just keep swimming. I hope sequel won't screw that up.

    This is my favorite Pixar film. People are always like "Oh the dad finds his son. That's the plot." But it's so much more than that. The characters are the plot - the dad is constantly haunted by his past, which dictates how he reacts in the present as he's constantly terrified. So, of course, he meets a character that literally CANNOT remember enough so she always acts on impulse. And neither one is shown as correct. It's the balance between letting go and also remembering why you care for others that is the real lesson. You can't be scared of the future, but you can't act entirely on impulse either, because most of those impulsive situations in the film almost got Marlin and Dory killed. Too bad the sequel kind of fucked up the characters into straight up tropes.

    I remember back in 2004 I was looking into doing a data entry job for some rich lady who owned oil wells. The job fell through, but I was still able to see her house, which included an aquarium with some of the fish from Finding Nemo. Which kind of goes against the movie's message. I do love this movie, and would like to see it again.

    I consider this to be one of my favorite Pixar films by far for all the reasons Doug mentioned and more. It's just so grand the way Lion King is. The animators took the material they had gift-rapped to them and brought it to life the way no one other than Pixar could have. They also worked in all the diversity of marine life to create some incredible scenes, such as those with the shark, the angler fish, the jellyfish, the sea turtles, etc. Of course, the story is the next strongest element. I can't think of a single problem with the narrative, especially given that it builds up a very unique moral. Perhaps there's a little much dialogue, but in a movie with such strong actors as the leads, that might be bound to happen.

    I recall going to the zoo after seeing this and i ran to the fish tanks excitedly where ive seen 'Dory' at.. The fish was swimming around without facing me and once it turned around i jumped back after seeing the actual face of that fish.. I expected the big eyes, cute face, but i saw tiny red eyes and a fish-like expressionless one.. I shook off the scare then i told my dad that i think Pixar nailed the visuals perfectly in this film :Y

    And still it's one of my 2 favourite movies of all time, tied with Spirited Away.
    It holds up even greatly today, something you can't say about a lot of movies from back then. Old Disney-Pixar always made great movies. I wish they kept it that way.
    But oh well, all good things have an end, and if they kept making good movies the good would just not be good anymore. Atleast we have the timeless classics like Toy Story, Finding Nemo, etc.

    I love Finding Nemo. When I first saw it (I was 8) I wasn't sure what to think. A year later, I adored it. Anytime I see it with kids, I enjoy every little reaction they have about the story. Kids were saying "Mine" with the seagulls in theaters, and each time I go to the Long Beach Aquarium little kids cry out at a clownfish tank, "Look it's Nemo and Dory! Where's Nemo (too many clownfish)."
    Going to see Finding Dory in a bit. For the record, I wasn't anticipating a sequel, but let's see how it turns out; my boss loves it.

    Heres and interesting fact with possibly massive allegorical implications: Nemo was named for Captain Nemo of Jules Verne's 20,000 leagues under the sea. In laten, Nemo means Nobody or no one. Think about this: According to the critic, there is messages to the parents. Now Marlin (the dad) is looking for nobody on a massive adventure. It could almost be considered that he found himself. Or Mabie it was just a nod of the head by Disney to Jules Verne.

    The animation in this movie is beautiful, Ellen as Dory just steals that spotlight (at least to me). Just keep swimming, can't wait for the sequel. I love this movie and can watch it over and over again. Love it. And yes thank you for pointing out the fact that they don't get together, I honestly didn't care if they got together, but I know some people are actually upset that they didn't, which I think is silly but whatever. I like that they didn't. This movie is right up there with Toy Story, Wall - E, Up ect. Love this movie.
